Well worth a visit for the experience - get changed in the car park - WHAT? Better if you take a dressing gown or robe - that's what we should have done. !!! You must go for the experience of sitting in sulphur thermal pools. So relaxing even in the rain.

Finding the location was slightly tricky, however once we discovered it, we were amazed to see how busy the location was, and that it was completely free.

We parked up, and being typical brits, we walked down to the spring to be nosey. Many people mainly italians turn up already in their swimming costumes, and carry dressing gowns (towelling). Many people were in the springs, and although it was slightly overcast, we couldn't resist a little dip. Racing back to the car, we changed into our swimming costumes there, as there are no changing facilities available. There is also no area to keep valuables, so would recommend leaving these locked up out of view in the car.

The springs are quite shallow, & rocky, and not the easiest to get in & out of, as the water was quite silty. Once in....you won't want to get out. Warm & relaxing, like a huge jacuzzi. The only thing we haven't mentioned is the smell. Yep, it smells of your partners backside, after a good night out...rotten eggs, however, although initially you think phoar...your nose gets used to it, and you forget the smell, & enjoy the relaxation of it.

There is a cafe on site, whereby you can purchase snack food, and hot drinks, as it maybe slightly cold when you get out, as it was for us in May.

Heaven on earth and free of charge. Its off the tourist track in southern Tuscany but a must must visit. This was the best experience for me on our 15 day italy trip. The water is so warm and nice that you would love to get in no matter how cold it is outside. It's a sight that words can't do justice to. If you are anywhere close to Saturnia so not miss this.

We drove from Sorano and stopped of at the via Cave first. The drive was very scenic. We had to stop at the Spa for directions but then found it without any further difficulty.

It was a cold day and there was a slight drizzle but it made the experience better. What a fantastic thing out in nature with no gates, lines or entrance fees.

We were considering not going as it meant a 40km detour on small, slow roads but it was definitely worth it!
