“This is simply the best hotel experience ever, and what a view!”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

Greeted warmly, personalized, friendly and with a view that takes your breath away. We spent our Christmas with Franz and Carmen and all their wonderful staff. The food coming from the kitchen is second to none, with a wine selection to match. The spa was warm and welcoming to young and old, with specific times when the kids can be kids, and others when adults can find quiet serenity. The many walking trails around the hotel made outings a bit of a challenge, with view points that made the walk well worthwhile. The drive from the valley below was exciting, where the Christmas market in Merano was fun and festive. Will we come back to stay at the Miramonti? At the first opportunity that comes along!

I stayed at the magnificent Miramonti Boutique Hotel for 5 nights (only). What can I say? It's been the most authentic, gastronomically appetising, visually impeccable, humanly touching experience we could have dreamt of in our wildest dreams.

THE ROOM: flavoured with essential oils, the comfortable beds overlook the purest mountains landscape. Minibar contains high quality organic fruit juices and every evening we would have an handmade baked good on the pillow. Shower is huge and the products are large format, so you can indulge in the over-relaxing bathing time.

THE RESTAURANT: You are, literally, suspended between earth & sky. Three choices of restaurants, all cosy and with an independent touch. The Stube, the Klassic and the Fine Dining option. We tried them all and may I add, there's no need to go anywhere else, since they provide the best price/quality/aesthetic option in the whole area. Every afternoon, from 2 to 5 p.m., tea and bakeries awaited us beside the fireplace. The apple strudel was deliciously handmade (just like anything else) and I could honestly say that I will keep that taste in mind for the rest of my days. Breakfast was delicious, all kinds of croissants, cakes prepared daily just like grandma would do it, salami, cheeses and walnuts, prosciutto and, for the dairy side, plenty of choice regarding yoghurts, naturally from the region, with a selection of organic seeds that reinforces the morning healthy start.

THE OWNERS: a special thanks goes to this lovely couple, Klaus and Carmen. They were incredible with us, filling every desire we could wish for: from the walk in the private hotel wood, through the memorable (very New York social diary) new year's eve, elegantly sitting over 100 people, to that time we got our petrol wrong and we got stuck with our car in the middle of the mountains. An experience which memory became a pleasant one because Klaus came and rescued us, just a very good friend would do in time of need.

Want a lifetime memory? Go to Hotel Miramonti.

We stayed at the Miramonti hotel the 6th - 9th of December. Having stayed the night in Verona on the 5th Dec, we travelled by train to Bozen/Bolzano, then onto Meran/Merano. On arriving at Merano, we were simply blown away by the views straight off the mark. Snow topped mountains on all sides really made a first impression. We took a taxi up to the hotel (30 Euros) the journey up was an experience in itself. First impressions of the hotel were “wow!” (this word was to be repeated many times during our stay). We were told to leave our luggage at the entrance to the hotel and invited to sit either on the terrace or in the dining room with a welcoming glass of ice cold Prosecco. We opted for the terrace and although a tad chilly, the view of Merano below and the surrounding mountains more than compensated. We had lunch in the Panorama restaurant, and knew then that the food was going to be excellent. We met Klaus, the owner, who was charming from the word go. Eventually we were taken to our room (we had booked the loft room) and, again, “ wow!” The room was enormous, spotlessly clean, with all the modern touches. The view from the balcony was beautiful; the sun bed on the balcony was a great touch, as was the telescope. We spent the rest of the day between the balcony and sofa just taking in the views.

At night we ate in the Klassik restaurant, the food was delicious, it doesn’t really make any difference which of the two restaurants you dine in, they have different menus, and the food in both is superb. The next day we went to the Merano 2000 ski centre, utilising the hotel’s free shuttle service driven by Klaus who pointed out lots of places of interest on the short drive. We had a great time on the mountain watching people ski, snowboard, and toboggan. I would definitely recommend that you try the alpine bob run (9 Euros for two adults), great fun. When we returned my partner had a nice surprise. After opening her birthday cards in the morning, she had put them on display on the dresser; the maid must have noticed and told Klaus & Carmen as there was an ice bucket with a bottle of champagne and a hand written card from them for her. A very much appreciated, lovely gesture. For the next two nights we ate in the Panorama restaurant and, again, the food is simply delicious and with a night time view of the lights of Merano, well I would struggle to do it justice in words.

The next day, Sunday, we were going into Merano to visit the Christmas market. You can book a taxi, or the hotel will take you for the same price. That particular day the shuttle was not running, and with our sense of timing we of course missed the bus. Katrina, the receptionist, went the extra mile to help us out which was very much appreciated.
We don’t usually name individuals when writing a review, but this hotel warrants these lovely people to be named, so a huge thank you to Meike, Barbara, Marcello and Katrina, and the rest of the staff. Also a huge shout out to the chefs and kitchen staff, your food is amazing
.
Klaus and Carmen have put their hearts and souls into this hotel and it shows in so many ways, to try to tell all would take pages. I would sum it up by saying, personally for us this is the best hotel we have ever had the pleasure to stay in.

Room Tip: We opted for a loft room but any of the front facing rooms will give you an amazing view.

Spent a lovely night at Miramonti, while in Merano to see the Christmas markets.. And I just can't wait to return to this place!
When we arrived at Miramonti we were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine sitting in front of the fireplace.. Exactly what we needed after a long day of sightseeing around the mountains!
The setting is amazing, the hotel is overlooking the valley from 1800 meters over the sea level and I could spend hours on my balcony staring at the beautiful landscapes if it wasn't for the freezing temperatures.. :)
Our room was huge and well appointed (only thing I didn't like was the bathroom, I would have preferred a more modern decor and a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub), clean and with a super comfy bed.
If you're a foodie like I am, you will love their Panorama restaurant! The food is delicious and very well presented, and the views are to die for! We absolutely loved our dinner there and I would suggest a dinner here to everyone even if not staying in the property. Also the breakfast was very good, lots of choice from home made pastries to eggs to cheeses and meats.
Everyone at the hotel was so nice and welcoming, check-in/check-out were super fast.. And when I find this kind of service, that's a big plus in my opinion!
Too bad we didn't have enough time to try the Spa and the indoor pool!
What else can I say.. Based on my short experience at Miramonti, I highly recommend this place!

Catering exactly to our needs - arrival with champagne and home made cake on the terrace, late check out till 5pm on sunday, fabulous degustation dinner with the flexibility to choose and match some courses, enormous breakfast buffet, a spa which has a lot to offer for the size of the hotel - amazing to sit in the hot tub and view the mountains. an upgrade to a suite with a magnificent view of the city of Meran helped to enjoy the stay :-) as well as the ever enthusiastic service - helpful from parking the car for you till handing us a bottle of pellegrino for the drive home.
only complaint ? not very soundproof which made us realise that a number of children were staying and enjoying running up and down the hallway as a noisy pastime early in the morning. nothing against kids ... but after we enjoyed all the wonderful wine we would have loved to be able to sleep in a bit longer...

We spent a long weekend at the Miramonti and it was a memorable stay. Owner Klaus and his team deliver service excellence, passion and hospitality in such a nice way, we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The hotel is touched up by applying little details and lots of charme, its location overlooking Meran is an incentive on its own.
Having studied the menu upfront (and that actually being one of the decisive factors), we were not disappointed: dinner at the regular restaurant was already great (4 course meal, luckily it was a Friday and the menu predominantly fish otherwise we would have exploded..) and only topped by dinner at the panorama fine dining. Deer hamburger with fois gras on walnut bread - how good was that!?!?
Of all staff we need to highlight Nino (?) the appulian waiter and Adam the barkeeper.
Two other highlights: the cakes and apple strudel in the afternoons and James Bond night on Sundays.
The only areas of improvement we could find:
Pillows are way too soft for us..
Breakfast cannot keep up with the brilliance of dinner; I was particularly disappointed of the scrambled eggs that weren't made of fresh eggs but hotel style egg powder.. But don't let that keep you from going.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Hotel Miramonti. Stunning location with very helpful, friendly staff. Whilst the rooms are not overly special, the attention to details and all the little touches by Hotel staff makes this such a lovely place to stay. I am already planning to return as our stay was just too short.
