“Idyllic location, beautiful home and overall amazing holiday!”
Reviewed August 18, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Despite having holidays on Scotland's west coast for a number of years, this is the first time we have been to Ardfern. Stronefield cottage is situated in the heart of this idyllic yachting village with fantastic views out to the water. The house itself was great, it has every amenity you could need, and goes above and beyond what the pictures show. A real highlight has to be the living room upstairs with a balcony and woodburning stove, perfect for relaxing in the evenings. In terms of the local area there is a pub/restaurant with great seafood dishes, the opportunity to go fishing and also enjoy one of the many walking routes. We will certainly look to go back, and highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a relaxing break.

“Beautiful house beautifully located”
Reviewed April 7, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

This is a lovely house - the design, the location, the way it's fitted out and equipped, the feel of it. There are some very nice touches as well - for example, they provide different weight duvets in each bedroom. The living area is upstairs with a balcony which means it has a great view over the village and the loch. Outstanding.

“Mackerel, sea trout and lobsters - already fixed dates to come back next year!”
Reviewed November 19, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We – two Danish families - spent a week in Stronefield Cottage in September. We went on beautiful hikes, saw golden eagles, seals and basking whales. We smoked the fish we caught and cooked lobsters we bought fresh from the local supplier in the village. And we visited the lovely local restaurants, bars and shops. All in all, this was probably the best holiday we have ever had together. The countryside is spectacular (for comparison Denmark is flat like a fluffy omelet), the view from the balcony to the sea loch and the mountains is fantastic (with or without a whisky in hand). The house is smart, roomy and very well equipped. In the evenings we lit the wood burning stove and made plans. Very helpful and efficient owner. We have already fixed the dates to come back next year!

“A beautiful, well equiped house in a stunning position, can't wait to return !”
Reviewed May 13, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

We have just spent a fantastic week at Stronefield Cottage. The "cottage" is a stunning, very well equiped house which has everything you need. The welcome pack of essentials was a great start. The wood burning stove was cosy on the couple of nights we watched the sun going down from the living room. The house is very roomy and takes 8 people very easily, plus a full size cot and high chair for little ones. I would suggest adding a couple of larger bath sheets to the large supply of bath/hand towels. The village shop has everything you need and there is also a lovely tea room with excellent meals and cakes. The local pub also offers excellent hospitality. Everyone is friendly and we had a wonderful trip out to sea on the Sea Lepod to see the Corryvrechan and both sea and golden eagles..Amazing! there is so much to do in the area. All highly recommended, we will certainly return!

“Photos don’t do it justice!”
Reviewed December 26, 2011 for a stay in November 2011

When searching for cottages online for a 30th weekend away, my friends and I chose location (proximity to where we live and village amenities) over the place itself; so on arrival at Stronefield realised how much the photos do not do it justice. Much bigger than expected. Very clean, rooms nicely laid out and with everything you need including BBQ. Wood burning stove was great at the time of year we visited. Great views. Friendly and efficient owner. Would definitely recommend.

“Great views, clean and good facilities.”
Reviewed February 25, 2011 for a stay in February 2011

We had a great few days in Ardfern. The house is only a few minutes walk to the harbour. Ideal place to get warm, escape the rain and admire the views from the lounge after some typical west coast weather. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 children. Well equipped kitchen and board games to keep the kids amused.

“Outstanding”
Reviewed February 2, 2011 for a stay in December 2010

If you wish to stay in an outstanding location, with views that a 15 megapixle camera couldnt do just too, then look no further than Stronefield.

My friends, wife and i stayed here over New Year and i can honestly say the reviews, pictures and everything else we could find when investigating the property do not do it justice.

Every aspect of the accomodation was superb, comfortable rooms, large open kitchen, spectacular setting and the locals in the village are more than welcoming. i just wish the week did not go as fast.

Even my dog did not want to leave!

Bob (the owner) was excellent.

The best holiday we have had in years.
