“Friendly and comfortable.”
Reviewed July 3, 2011

Situated in the tiny village of Kilmartin this hotel provided a really friendly and comfortable base for touring around this very scenic and historic part of Western Scotland. The Landlord was very informative and helpful and the beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The rooms are being refurbished and named after the four seasons. 'Autumn' is the most spacious and there are wonderful panoramic views. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and the food from the restaurant was hearty and tasty. I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: 'Autumn' was the most spacious room.

We travelled around the coast of Scotland during May and this is one of the hotels we stayed in - This hotel was middle of the road. Our room looked down the valley which was lovely and the decor wasok. The pub part was full so ourselves and two other couples were taken to the main restaurant which was very nice but the food wasn't as good as I'd expected for such a packed pub. Generally ok

We came for an overnight stay but my wife was taken ill and was admiited into the local hospital for 7 nights. I stayed on at this village hotel until her discharge .The owner and staff were all very helpful and flexible with meal times to fit in with my frequent visits to the hospital.Food was excellent and the menu is full of typically scottish fare. The real ale on tap very tasty and well kept. Pub locals friendly and made my extended stay a pleasant experience

Having booked this hotel for two nights en route to Skye, my partner found the two older and more negative comments below and she then worried about the choice of hotel. We can endorsze the comments in the previous review that the rooms need refurbishment - something that the owner concedes - but they are clean and meet all your needs. Just don't book if you are after a boutique hotel experience, but the price gives that away anyway. Everything else is spot on. Great food and good value prices & portions; really nice local real ale and all the usual other drinks; friendly and good service. We had booked an evening meal on the first night and had no hesitation in reserving a table for the second night too. This is a great base for exploring a really wonderful part of Scotland, which is well worth a holiday in its own right.

The room was overdue for refurbishment but it was clean and comfortable with a great view down the glen. Good bathroom but the extractor fan made a bit of noise in my room. Very good breakfast. I have eaten there in the evening in the past and had good food. Also good beer in the bar! Cost £40.00 per night B and B.

The resonance was perfect for a young at heart person like myself. Camper van couple in the car park opposite, sassy hostess, nice food, and charming maitre d'. The meander through the local countryside was a nice change to my normal pace of life and I will save a few airmiles by not going abroad this year to some lookalike capital city. The local retail population seems to have raised its game too and so I am poorer but certainly happier .......
