We stayed a week in this hotel. Overall, we had a very positive experience: the atmosphere in the hotel is very quiet, easygoing. All the guests seem to share this need for quiet relaxation. I' m convinced that the hotel owner's idea of a 'no small children' policy is going to become more & more succesful. Well done!
The views from the terrace are indeed wonderful. The fact that a nice little walk to Piburger see starts right at the hotel, is a bonus as well.
Diner is very good, compliments to the chef and his team. Breakfast is good, the choices are not so abundant but everything is tasteful and fresh.
We had a junior suite, which was nicely decorated. Nice outdoor facilities ( although too cold swimming water for us...) and nice silent room at the wellness with some extra touches.
These are all the positive remarks. However, there are also some other remarks i would like to share. I hope they can be seen as tips rather than negative feedback.
First of all, as mentioned by other reviewers, the staff is overall very friendly and helpful and they have a lot of potential but some of them still have to be 'polished'. We were especially pleased by the service and nice attitude of 'Jan'. However, Some issues may require some extra supervision, for example: a waitress who is sighing and complaining about stress while bringing over your coffee at breakfast, is a no-no. Also,When staying a little bit later(9 à 9.30pm) at the diner table, it is disturbing when the staff starts to prepare the tables around you for breakfast in a very loud matter: It gives the idea that staff has to rush to end their shift and that they want you to clear your table. It is ok if they prepare these tables, but preferably in a more discreet way.
Next remark: our room faced the valley. It was a very nice junior suite. Except for the bad smell in our shower which we reported at check-out, it was well decorated and equipped with a espressomachine etc... Unfortunately, i was not happy with the location of our room because at daytime, the road in the valley made motorway-like noise. It was not only the river, as mentioned lyrically by the lady who guided us through the hotel At arrival. I can imagine that a lot of people would not be bothered by this noise, but I have to mention that I wrote an extra mail in advance, asking for advice which roomtype to choose to be sure of a very quiet location. The only response i got was : 'the hotel lies on a hill', which apparently should be reassuring enough. The rooms facing the terrace seem very quiet indeed. But, unfortunately for us, we had a room with this roadnoise, facing a (staff)parking and garbage-shed and above the exitdoor for staffmembers were the staff also have a chat and smoke during their breaks. All not too loud, but just not so quiet as i hoped/ requested... Nex time, I will definately choose a room facing the garden.
The outdoor sauna is also orientated to this side, so for us, i was not so inviting to use this facility as you are standing near the parking with distant roadnoise while cooling off from the sauna. I suggest some more plants around this outdoor area to make it more secluded and maybe some feature with running water so it absorpts the distant road noise and the occasional parking noises nearby.
Overall, the negative remarks doesn't conquer the positive ones and I can really recommend this hotel.
