No pictures on the walls in the corridors, almost no decor in the rooms

Some of the rooms are looking a bit tired. Bathrooms well equipped.

Restaurant is better than the hotel

Poor WiFi coverage, TV's are old tube sets

Not a place to visit to impress your girl friend

The room I stayed in was huge (2 floors) and had everything you need for a business trip. Food was great and service was very courteous. The only negative point I can remember is that there is a construction site of a second hotel nearby and the workers started working at 7 a.m.

I stayed for 1 night while on a business trip so I cannot comment on the wellness nor the golf facilities.
I stayed in room 109 which is a junior suite. The room is very clean, spacious, comfortable and finished to a very high standard.
Unfortunately I had a late arrival and reception was already closed (9pm closing time) but I had received instructions how to retrieve my key from an outside keysafe.
The hotel is located in a very quiet and beautiful setting up in the hills at about a 60min. drive to the centre of Munich.
I disagree with other reviews stating that breakfast isn't good. It was excellent. There was a broad choice of bread, cereals, juices, fruits, milk products, etc...
Staff wee very friendly and helpful.
Though the hotel is geared towards golf players, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the outdoors or looking for a short getaway from the hustle and bustle of Munich.
Definitely worth a second visit in my book.

We stayed at the Margarethenhof for a couple of days in August. I was puzzled when the management charged my credit card for one night when I reserved the stay, a couple of weeks before our arrival. Nevetheless I gathered the place must be fully booked and they believed the mere credit card number to be not enough of a guarantee of our arrival.
When we finally got there, much to our surprise, we and another couple were the only guests of the whole Hotel.
A beautiful place, mind you, situated right in the middle of a Golf court, all new, with perfecly groomed gardens as you would expect where Golf Clubs are.
The room, a Junior Suite Superior, is modern and tasteful, with a nice bathroom, a reading area with couch and desk, in a modern outlay and with direct access to the garden.
The restaurant is something else though: the charge for halfboard treatment is 30 Euro per person, so I paid 60 Euro a day for my and my wife's dinner. As said, there was only another table occupied, and the food offered was not up to par. I would say catering of mediocre quality, as I believe there are no cooks nor kitchen activity of any sort there. After a dinner we gave up for the second evening. The breakfasts were much of the same quality, with little choice, no toaster, no cooked foods such as scrambled eggs or bacon, sausages, or pancakes.
The major issue with this Hotel is then the kitchen: unless they fix this major fault it would be advisable if they only offered B+B accommodation, for as it is the whole experience at the Margarethenhof is spoiled by the unacceptable (and expensive) dining experience.
The personnel is extremely friendly and helpful, the venue elegant and modern.
But it's missing the warmth a well lived in place usually portrays.

We stayed here as my husband likes to play golf. He enjoyed the course and found it challenging but enjoyable and well maintained. It was expensive to play, though. The room was huge, with a seating area, large bathroom, private outside seating area and even a small kitchen area (although not even a kettle was provided so it was useless to us). What let the place down was the staff and the restaurant. When we arrived there was no one in reception. We had to wait nearly 30 minutes for someone to return to check us in. The biggest dissapointment was the restaurant. The first night's dinner was a painful marathon wait of 2.5 hours and the food was not wonderful. It was also the most expensive hotel and restaurant of the four we stayed in during our tour of Bavaria. The restaurant staff gave the impression they were fobbing us off every time we asked for something. We got no butter with our bread and I think our dessert order was forgotten initially as it took them so long to bring it to us. We were so dissapointed we couldn't face the restaurant on the second night. We would have eaten out, but we didn't want to drive out somewhere so we used room service. That was also a mistake. Very expensive, stale bread...you get the picture. The only positive member of staff we encountered was a friendly, helpful waiter at breakfast. On the plus side, WiFi internet was free of charge and parking free and fairly close.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting a golf hotel, but with the proviso that they probably want to eat somewhere else.
