Gasthaus Rebstock
Ranked #2 of 8 Simonswald B&B and Inns

Went with four friends and we all think that this was a wonderful gasthaus. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The standard of accommodation was one of the best I've stayed in throughout europe. The restaurant provided food of the highest quality at dinner and the breakfast was comprehensive; the only problem some of my friends had was when to stop eating! I will definitely try to go back and stay longer.

After an 'interesting' drive, down the '500' Schwartzwaldhochstrasse, from Baden-Baden, through heavy rain and 10m visibilty; three car-loads of us, descended on the Rebstock, at about 16:30, ready for a bit of R&R.
We were not disappointed, in any way.
From arrival to departure we could not have been looked after, better. Onsite free parking is provided. On entering the guest-house we received an extremely warm and friendly greeting from the owner and his family and were shown to three very clean, large rooms. They were well appointed, in the local light wood style and had really good large showers. The beds were extremely comfortable and provided with duvets. As an aside, the TV had both 'BBC World' and 'CNN' channels.
Having driven through some atrocious weather conditions, we were all ready to unwind, with a relaxing drink. So we sat outside, on the 1st floor balcony, under a wide canopy, whilst it continued to rain and enjoyed a few bevvies, watching the world go by, in an idyllic valley setting.
The evening meal was provided from an extensive local menu. Try the pike. Delicious. There again, try the Sauer Braten. Melt in the mouth. See what I mean? I would recommend this guest-house, just for the food alone, even if you're passing-by and aren't using it for a stop-over. It was excellent. The portions were more than adequate. And, if the locals, who were also there, having their meals, are anything to go by, it must be good! The local 'house white' is a very palatable wine.
After a good and restful night's sleep, we were provided with a breakfast that included a large selection of local breads, meats, cheeses and fruit. Something for everyone.
All in all, a very good, value-for-money stop-over, made more-so by mine host and his family.

This family-owned guesthouse is a gem! The atmosphere, the people, the food, the rooms, the surrounding countryside . . . amazing! Even the price was perfect! Highly recommended!!

Bin selbst Deutscher. Wir haben nicht übernachtet, sondern nur hier gegessen. Gut bürgerliche Küche, sehr schmackhaft, ordentliche Portionen und die angenehmste Bedienung in Deutschland seit Jahren!

This is German hospitality at its very best! We did not stay overnight but only ate here. Real German food, very tasty, generous portions, served by one of the friendliest servers I have experienced in Germany in many years. This is a family business off the beaten path in a beautiful valley of the Black Forest near Freiburg. Hiked the Wutachschlucht and Lotenbachklamm gorges near there. On a rainy day the clock museum in Furtwangen was very interesting.
