Anthony Hunte has created a tropical oasis of in this collapsed cave planting all manner flora amongst the existing palms. A twisting path, dotted with statues, will take you down into a hot and steamy garden like no other a massive undertaking which is still evolving. Take the time to stop for a drink and a chat with Anthony, a real old school gent, and try his exclusive rum blend.

“The only time Maria Callas has been upstaged”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

Hunte's Gardens is the most wonderful combination of tropical trees and plants set off by the most atmospheric of settings high in the hills of central Barbados. Sight is complemented by sound with the rich tones of Maria Callas filtering through the glades. All this is presided over with modest pride by Anthony Hunte a gentleman refreshingly of the old school who dispenses tea and charm from his verandah high above the Gardens.

The Gardens are well signposted and when you arrive it will be at the old original gates from the original Sandy Lane Hotel.

“Sheer magic”

Lush, wildly varied, stunningly beautiful tropical gardens. Anthony Hunte, the host and owner, is funny, knowledgeable and worth the trip himself.

“An amazing paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013 via mobile

As a regular visitor to Barbados with a good knowledge of all the attractions, It is not surprising to see this as the number one attraction in Barbados. It is a true haven of tranquility, serenity and an amazing array of color. Kudos to The owner, Anthony, who was a super host with with an astonishing knowledge of fauna. Thank you for the great hospitality and allowing us to share a little of your paradise! Of course the home made rum punch was a fantastic end to a great visit!

“garden delight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

We visited Huntes garden whilst on holiday in Barbados, it was clear that this garden although small is beautifully maintained with unusual plants and little seating areas throughout. When we had been around the garden we went to Mr Huntes house which was different to say the least . Antony Hunte himself is a typical old fashioned gent if a tad eccentric ! The reason I've only given 4 stars is because it was rather expensive . However it was lovely to meet Antony and Flora his little dog.
