“Glitter Bay Room 304”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

5th visit to Barbados and 5th visit to Glitter Bay, why stay anywhere else when you have the best accommodation and beach on the island. The staff are outstanding the accommodation beautiful and the beach with its white sand and crystal blue water to die for.
A big Thank you to (TREC), TonyTroulan, Duncan, Julie and the rest of the team for making our stay once again, relaxing and very enjoyable.
I would highly recommend Room 304, a two storey suite with three bedrooms.

Room Tip: All are lovely

We booked the condo through Eden Resorts and stayed in unit 313. The unit was a one bedroom unit and it was well appointed and immaculate. Everything was top of the line and brand new. Nuru Patterson took care of all the details and us !!! We were so so happy with the service (even the refrigerater was stocked up very nice touch and they pick you up at the airport) . We had daily maid service as well with the condo the ladies who take care of the property are fabulous. The ground are great ... Also the beach at Glitter Bay was perfect nice sandy beach with nice swimming area. The ocean looked more like a lake most days which made for great swimming and watersports. Glitter Bay has an onsite beach attendant , assigned beach chairs, and bar service. Food at the bar is okay basic but other places are in walking distance such as Ram Shackle and Ju Ju's all very good . The location is great because you are in walking distance of Holetown (long walk) or you can take the bus. It is about a 2 minute bus ride to Holetown where there is a super nice mall, restaurants, high end shops, bars , movie theater etc very convenient . We really liked the restaurants inside the mall (greek, italian , etc by the armani exchange) good eats for a good price !! We had a great vacation because of the location and service we received at Glitter Bay. We were there for Christmas and New Year's and really had a fabulous time. Glitter Bay Estates even put on New Year's party they did a great job and the food was fantastic. All the people who work there really take pride in the property and it shows. Staying in a condo vs. a hotel in Barbados (we have now done both routes) worked out fabulous it was so nice to have the extra space and was nice to be able to get up every morning and have our coffee on the deck.
We really enjoyed our vacation and was one of the best, definitely recommend staying in this area of Barbados very very nice !!!!

Room Tip: any of the condos are great especially the ones i booked through Eden Resorts (everything was brand...

We have been holidaying in Barbados since the mid 80's as a family and have some very happy memories of our stay's along the West Coast. We decided this year to re-explore the renting of an apartment for independance and flexibility as my 3 year old grandson was accompanying us on this trip.Glitter Bay ticked all the boxes and we booked a ground floor apartment 107 for safety and accessibility to the beach etc (the latter is'nt an issue whichever apartment you book.) The apartment was appalling,-generally filthy,a health hazard.... and a stuffy' odour prevailed throughout, the kitchen area was disgusting, dishwasher did'nt work and contained mouldy food residue, the fridge door had no handle (broken)and would'nt close properly therefore there was constant dripping water, consequently we had to prop the door closed with a broom handle, all the kitchen cupboards had an undefined smell within them;bathrooms were dirty, staining on toilets and antiquated in appearance;bedrooms lacked any comfort,no valances on beds, bed side lights did'nt work, wardrobes were ingrained with dirt on the walls, floor and doors. The veranda area was completely enclosed with shrubs so there was no view whatsoever to the garden, pool area etc. The apartment was a complete nightmare, we had never ever exprienced such poor quality accomodation along the west coast. 107 impacted on our holiday significantly and not what we had been expecting based on the advertising blurb ' for this apartment and the cost. Thankfully the owner of another apartment and Glitter Bay Management came to our rescue after we complained vehemently. We eventually moved to another apartment .Worringly the owner of 107 at the time and still continues to take no responsibility for the disgusting environment he is renting out, he has stated that the quality of his apartment is commensurate with other apts on Glitter Bay,-this is completely untrue.I would not recommend this apartment under any circumstances.
Apart from our devastating experience with the apartment,-Glitter Bay is an excellant location for families, the staff, managment team & Nuru go out of their way to be welcoming. The beach is the best!
Will we go back? All depends on whether our recent vivid memories of our dreadful experience with the apartment fade signifcantly enough.....

Room Tip: All apartments are positioned well. We w conscious of the balcony with the little one.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Glitter Bay 107. I am sorry that you had such an experience with this particular apartment which is privately owned and managed by an owner.

Glitter Bay is a unique beach front property on the west coast of Barbados consisting of privately owned 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, most of which are rented via various rental management companies or directly with a few owners who manage their own apartment. Barbados Villa Services manages 15 apartments at Glitter Bay of which 14 are rented and we are not associated in any way with apartment 107. The Glitter Suites comprises of the following apartments which are for vacation rental 101, 103, 106, 109, 113, 204, 206, 211, 212, 305, 308, 309, 313, 409.

We are glad that you enjoyed everything else at Glitter Bay and we have to agree that the beach is one of the best on the west coast. It is a lovely property with spacious grounds and friendly staff and we pride ourselves in ensuring that all our guests staying in our apartments leave here wanting to come back time and time again. We hope that we can have the pleasure of welcoming you back to our shores and to one of the Glitter Bay Suites at Glitter Bay.

Sincerely,

Well another rainy day in England and my mind wanders to Glitter Bay and I check the flight costs... We vistited Glitter Bay this year in August for the second time (3rd in Barbados). First time we rented 101 this time we rented 313 as we had my mum with us and needed the third bedroom. This is truly a place in paradise. The only place in the world where we all relax - as a family we have travelled extensively 5 star all the way but ask any of us "Where do you want to go next year?" they all shout: "Glitter Bay!" Even my mum is hooked. I don;t think you can go wrong with any of the apartments although I prefer ground floor with access to the pool. The staff are so friendly - Shawn we love you - the gardeners are great, chatted to my mum all the time. Coral our maid was like family - so lovely. We also always seem to meet some great people. I just love this place and Holetown. If you are looking for somewhere new to go with a superb beach, people and accommodation then Glitter Bay is it - although don't tell too many people!! Oh well back to dreaming about next year while it's pouring down outside...

Room Tip: We hope to try 106 next year.

This was our 3rd vacation in Barbados; all great experiences, but this was by far our most memorable. We rented Suite 106 (Shak Shak), a 3 bedroom unit with 2 baths. While the unit was very nice, as always it is the people who make a good vacation great! This was certainly the case here.

The unit is very large, has wireless internet, beds are comfortable and the unit amenities are great. The patio area, which we used heavily, has a large table and a large connected seating area. It opens directly onto a path leading to the adjacent pool, the beach bar and, of course, the beach.

Management and staff were well above average but Shawn was certainly the highlight. We spent lots of time on the beach, one of the nicest in St. James Parish, and used the adjacent beach bar to grab lunch, snacks or have a drink to 'cool down' several (well, many...) times through the day. He went above and beyond to make our visit memorable, educating us about Bajan customs, told us places to visit while on the island, etc., but the Bajan lunch he, his friends and several of the other staff prepared for us and our friends was over the top.

We have explored much of Barbados on our 3 visits. I've never felt safer anywhere in the Caribbean. The west coast is, in my opinion, the best area and the area from Sandy Lane to Speightstown the most convenient. The bus service is good. Glitter Bay is a gem. Holetown is about a 5 minute bus ride or 15 minute walk away where you'll find a supermarket and good restaurants. Ragamuffins is a blast on Friday nights - you'll see what I mean. Another must while in Barbados is the Friday night Fish Fry in Oistins. It's on the other side of Bridgetown but well worth the trip. Get there early. Great experience!

The unit was great but did have its faults. One bath is off a bedroom and it really only usable for the couple occupying that room. Great for a family but a bit awkward for 3 couples. The other was just off the kitchen, ugh! It was a nice bathroom but the door was a pair of 16" louvered doors with a large gap at the center where they met, seriously reducing the feeling of privacy one should expect when using a bathroom. Fortunately the exhaust fan was 'usually' adequate in eliminating escaping odors. In addition, what appeared to have been a small closet that opened into the bathroom had been re-purposed to accommodate the washer and dryer. The original louvered closet door located in front of the toilet opened to the rear of the stacked laundry unit and a second door located at the front of them opens onto the kitchen. Lets just say that using the toilet when somebody is doing laundry can be uncomfortable - for both parties.

There are AC units in each bedroom and two in the living area, one of which didn't work. No worries, the other provided adequate cooling for the area. The thermostat on the unit in the smallest bedroom didn't seem to work and we resorted to running it before bedtime to cool the room and turn it off overnight. The condensate drain from the unit in the master seemed to have stopped working on the last night causing some minor flooding.

These certainly didn't cause much discomfort and we will certainly return.

We went here with a 3 month old baby. The staff, in particular the manager Nuru, were fantastic. They arranged a cot and playmat for the baby which were there when we arrived. The car that came for us at the airport had a baby seat already. Just great service for a perhaps slightly nervous set of first time parents travellling with a baby!
The apartment is fully equipped, and beautifully decorated. It is really comfortable. Wifi with a great signal was available. My only negative comment on the apartment itself would be the lack of ventilation in the bathroom.
There is room servicing available daily, and the rooms had a huge stock of towels and toiletries.
There is a lovely patio area outside the apartment with a fan that was plesant f rthe baby (and us!) to sit in.
The hotel bar has a limited range of drinks and the bar food service is also quite limited. But that didn't really matter as we had well-stocked fridge and kitchen facilities in the apartment.
Grounds of the apartments were lovely: there was a lovely pool and in May it was not crowded, but very pleasant. Weather-wise - lovely: a mild breeze present most days and occasional very short lived showerts to clear the air.

The Fairmont hotel is next door along the beach, and has a lovely bar restaurant for lunch and more formal surroundings for dinner. Nuru will help you book a table for dinner in any of the local restaurants.
Food is actually quite expensive to buy in the local supermarket and options for informal dining within short walking distance were a bit limited, but the local hotels eg Fairmont had great dining facilities and excellent drinks selection.

So overall a lovely spot: we had a quiet holiday but that was dictated more by our wishes and the little baby rather than lack of facilities. Really relaxing, great staff and iewa lovely v
