Stayed at Turtle Beach Hotel mid December 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed the place. Hotel is very comfortable, clean, staff is friendly and helpful. Food is very good and offers variety. Had a room with sea view, so sound of crushing waves was great feature. My only problem is the location of the hotel, if you want to swim. It is on the rougher South Coast and out of 10 days of stay we could only swim about 5 days, the rest of stay sea was to rough and waves to strong and high. In my opinion, if you go to Caribbean for swimming in a real sea, not the chlorine pools, be careful with this hotel - swimming will not be guaranteed at all.
Although you can always go to the sister property - Crystal Cove on the West Coast and enjoy wonderful swimming and water sports in calmer waters, plus use all the Hotel Facilities. And don't forget to use complimentary free water taxi to check out Colony Club and Tamarind.

This was our first time in Barbados and what a good hotel. This was on the South of the island.
The hotel and the facility's are good, the are 3 restaurants to chooses from and they are all part of the all inclusive at no extra charge also the are premium branded drinks at no extra charge. The staff at the hotel were very good, nothing was to much trouble for them. The staff around the pool were very good, always making sure our glass was never empty!
The only criticism I could make is that at the end of the first week a family of 'Chavs' arrived. Apparently Virgin do cheap wedding packages at the hotel. But apart from that it was very good.

Dear moomin2523: Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your lovely stay at the Turtle Beach Resort. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed most aspects of your stay with us, including the food, beverages and most of all the staff! We regret that you were not particularly fond of some of the other guests at the resort, but do hope that you will still grant us the opportunity to welcome you back to the resort with our warm Barbadian hospitality in the near future.

Wishing you a healthy, prosperous and happy 2014!

Stayed one week in early december with a 4mo old baby. We stayed in a oceanview room on the top (4th) floor. The staff is ultra-friendly and always wanting to help. There is always someone available to help with whatever it is you need - drinks, beach equipment, etc. The hotel itself is on the south end of Barbados where there are some waves and a constant breeze. The beach was a white sand marvel, no rocks to speak of in the water and a very nice temperature. There were turtles in the water just around the point you could see if paddle boarding. The watersports were great with kayak, sailing and windsurfing available. They only have intermediate/advanced windsurf gear available, so expect you to know the basics. That being said, they were helpful in showing me how to get in and out of the surf with a sail as it was my first time windsurfing in the ocean. They also have jetskis you can rent. You can rent a paddle board down the beach on the boulevard they cal 'the gap'. There are 2 small pools which were clean and nice to swim in. Great for the baby with some shaded areas. The designated splash pool for kids had no shaded area. There was also one hot tub.
The room we had was facing the ocean away from the entertainment section of the horseshoe shaped resort, so it was quiet. We heard from other guests that rooms that were 'garden facing' could be noisy until about 10-11pm. I think the 'ocean view' rooms are off the lap pool, away from the 'garden area' and very slightly nearer the beach - these would likely be more quiet. The bed was a king, not the most comfortable we've been in, but felt nice after a day in the sun and on the water. Otherwise the room was great. In retrospect it would probably have been a good idea to get a suite so we could have a space for the baby to sleep in the quiet. The baby had a standard pack-n-play cot, which did the trick but didn't have fitted sheets (we forgot ours). In regards to baby things: 2 of the 3 restaurants are baby friendly (one is adult only (>12)). The kids center seems excellent, but is for kids older than 3. There is babysitting available. The beach chairs all have built-in sun shades which were great to keep the baby out of the sun.
Restaurants were great: the buffet changes the menu every day, and it very good. Breakfast has all the breakfast food you could think of, but is not particularly gourmet. The waterfront restaurant in open at lunch (buffet) and at dinner (a-la-carte). The dinner was very good, well presented and prepared. We never made it to the italian restaurant, but hear it's one of the best on the island from one of the locals we know.
There were nightly bands that played in the main square, but other than that there wasn't really any other form of evening entertainment. There was a lull between 5 and 7 where there was no sun, no food, and nothing else really going on on the the resort.
My wife used the 'spa' for a massage - which was actually just a re-purposed hotel suite. She said the massage was great, but the environment somewhat lacking when compared to a true spa.
Some hiccups - our reservation got accidentally changed by the hotel to one day later when they made a change to our reservation a few weeks before our arrival. They were quite accommodating, upgrading our room, but were were a bit stressed when there was no ride waiting for us at the airport and no reservation in their system for that day. It all got sorted out and we did get a ride from the airport but the after 30min of discussing and waiting as we had all the appropriate trip vouchers with the correct dates. Also, there is only one elevator and it stopped working twice (briefly) during our stay. Carrying the beach gear and stroller up 4 flights was not ideal. In retrospect, a ground floor room would have been easier with the baby, and was offered to us when we arrived, but the views were spectacular from the upper floor.
Overall: great beach, great food, wonderful people at the resort. The building itself it nice, with pretty grounds but some elevator hiccups. Activities from 5-7 were a bit light. Overall a great vacation and we would come again.

We got married at Turtle Beach in late September. We had a wonderful time and whilst all the staff were very friendly and helpful, special thanks go to Jacqueline and Dionne for excellent service. Also a huge thank you to Rosalind Millington our wedding coordinator for making our day so special.

We decided not to use the resort photographer and were delighted with the service and end result provided by local photographer Michael Pilgrim, email address: caribbeanweddingconnections@hotmail.com We would highly recommend Michael.

Another recommendation is Asiagos restaurant, try it and you will want to go again....!

Stayed for two weeks 22nd Nov to 6th Dec. Hotel is in a very good location for easy access to Bridgetown, St. Lawrence Gap and Oistins. Hotel staff were without exception courteous and efficient and made guests feel genuinely welcome. All public areas are clean and well maintained as was our room, number 419. The food was very good with plenty of choice at every meal. Can recommend the rum cocktails - tried them all and it's difficult to choose a favourite! Good beach adjoining hotel where the waves can get rough at times. Captain Sam and his team monitor the beach efficiently and organize the water sports - at least one trip on the Hobie Cat is essential! Getting around the island by public transport is cheap, easy and good fun (particularly on the "reggae" buses). Enjoy the hotel and its excellent facilities but get out to see as much of the island as you can.

What a great resort! We had 2 children (6 and 2 at the time) and they also had a wonderful time! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was lovely with plenty of choice to suit all and the adjoining beach was beautiful. The water gets a bit rough at times but there are safeguards in place and our kids loved the fact that the water was a bit rough at times! Our room was lovely and very clean with a balcony that overlooked the pool and sea and housekeeping done a great job in making it up every day. The entertainment at night was great and varied each night of the week. We renewed our vows whilst there and enjoyed a candlelit dinner on the beach which was second to none! Lonelle was great at making sure we were well looked after, our kids loved her! There was a 30 min wait one morning for breakfast items to be replenished and ended up giving up waiting but other than that our stay was faultless. We will def be returning next year!
