Try to beat this one! Ben and his team are running the most delightful riad in a lovely little town. Nothing is too much trouble from breakfast on the upper terrace in the sun to solving everyone's problems from the computer onwards. Suite Djebel - even at 90 - up the spiral staircase - is a dream with its terrace and beds outside in the sun. The whole place is just great - it is right there in the medina.
This riad is a really wonderful place to spend your time while in Taroudant. The staff is lovely and is always very friendly and helpful. The hotel looks wonderful and is beautifully decorated; apart from your room, there are many places to relax, for example on the roof terrace. Everything is very clean. The hammam is a nice experience as well! One minor thing: we stayed in the Argana room, and the bed was too firm, which is not that comfortable. However, the rest of the riad makes up for that; we stayed an extra night as we liked it so much here :)
This was the best Riad I stayed in Morocco. The room was amazing, beautiful and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and the receptionist speaks very good English. The riad also has a nice swimming pool. I recommend this riad to everyone.
The best of Riad Tafilag is the staff. Ben and the whole staff is super friendly and the owners of the riad should be grateful to have so good employees.
The Riad is nicely tucked in a quiet corner in Taroudant. It is nicely decorated and the rooms are beautiful, clean and spacious.
Breakfast was nice but could be improved. Knowing that khobz is the only bread they have in Morocco and therefore you get it day after day, it would be nice to have some chocolate croissants for a change. The owner of the riad is rench after all :-) And they only cost 20 cents of euro in the best pastry shop in town.
Apart from that, it was a very pleasant stay!
Riad Tafilag is a well-equipped, clean and very attractive boutique hotel in the middle of the pulsing chaos of a small but busy city. That's not saying much though; what you get is looked after and cared for by the small but very attentive team there. We got nothing but help and good humour from everybody, and especially from Ben (Hassan), who I don't think we could ever thank enough.
The Riad is down a bit of an alley, and it does smell of the neighbouring goats and cats, but once inside everything is calm, light and taste. We stayed for a week, and had booked into Ayma, which is a bright and airy room on the second floor. We mentioned to Ben that we would have liked our own balcony (we didn't complain, just said how nice it would have been) and he arranged for us to swap into suite Djebel for our last four days at no extra charge; this shows his exceptional kindness and attention to what people need for a perfect break.
The breakfasts were delicious and generous, and their timing was very flexible. We didn't eat any other meals in the Riad as Taroudant is so full of tempting and extremely good-value eating options but the cooking smells from the kitchen were wonderful.
We didn't swim in the little pools as we were there in January but I can imagine them being very welcome in a couple of months time.
The rooms are clean, tasteful, very comfortable and all uniquely decorated. Some are reached by spiral staircases, and there is no lift, so options for people with mobility problems are more limited, though there are rooms on the ground floor.
If you think this review is a bit gushing, well, all I can say is you have to go and see for yourself!
We factored in a stop-over in Taroudant for 1 night. We got on to Trip Advisor and booked in at Riad Tafilag based on a healthy supply of excellent comments. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted at the bus station by Ben, who, through his humour and nice nature convinced us to stay another night. We were also pleasantly surprised by the city of Taroudant. It's not the prettiest of towns but a relatively calm break from the intensities of Morocco and a fairly good shopping stop over. The riad was gorgeous with private terraces and stylish decor. Excellent value for money.
