“Oasis of peace and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2011

Situated bang in the centre of the medina in Taroudant this is a perfect little oasis of peace and quiet. We tried self drive from Agadir and negotiating the maze of streets in the medina was quite an adventure, and we ended up parking at the nearest convenient place, walking to the riad and once we had walked a route back to the car, drove to the parking area just outside the Riad. Like all the Moroccan riads, the plain doorway belies the beauty of the interior. The check-in is easy and relaxed with a refreshing welcome drink. The rooms are all individually decorated in traditional style with thick walls which although need a little warming in the winter would be nice and cool in the summer. there is a safe in each room and a hairdryer plus a little dish of cakes which is a nice touch.
Being in the centre of the medina everything is in easy reach but with the lovely courtyard and swimming pool in the riad it can be a little difficult to tear yourself away.
The breakfast is lovely with fresh breads cakes and preserves. Dinner can be ordered earlier on in the day and although there is no choice we were not disappointed with everything being freshly prepared and lots of argan oil to dress your salad.
Meryem and her staff did everything to make our stay comfortable (despite their lack of English and our lack of French and Arabic). Reasonably priced and a great little find.

Room Tip: Pay just a few euros more for a suite

Forget the other hotels. This 6 bedroom Riad only 5 minutes walk from the Grand Bazaar is the place to stay. Hidden behind and inauspcious blue door this lttle gem belies its grand title of Palais, but with a delightful swimming pool and garden is an oasis in the hubbub of Taroudannt.

Superbly clean, the staff and the food are excellent and at €50-€60 per night with breakfast is a bargain not to be missed. The dinners are nicely cooked and at €12 per person for 3 couses are great value too. They also serve wine which is an added bonus.

Try it. You will not be disappointed.

The stay at le Palais Oumensour was really delightful. It was fun to practise my French and the staff were also keen to make sure we understood everything we needed. The rooms were really nice, beds comfortable, and cleaned every day. The food was very good and all home baked by the cook - even the jam. The breakfast was all you wanted, yoghurts, pancakes and fresh fruit salads. 5 of our group were vegetarian and the dishes that were served for those were with imagination. Taroudant remains unspoilt and when we went to the local markets, we found there was always a willing passing guide to take you round. The weather was very bad (untypical for that time of year), but that doesn't deter us from going back later in the year. We have already decided to do a big family break as we were so impressed!

A real find.
Pure luxury in the maelstrom of Morrocco!.
Meryame is tirelessly efficient.
Superb cuisine and impeccably clean and comfortable rooms for a very reasonable price.
You'd better speak French though!

Oh and theres a cockerell that needs killing in the adjacent property( I.suggest the gardien be "bought off "Meryame)

The Palais Omensour is a fantastic place to stay in Taroudant. It's beautiful and well-located in the medina, just a 3 minute walk from the amazing Grand Souk. The 55E rooms are excellent value for money - large, beautifully decorated and very clean. For 75E you can have a larger room with two sofas and a view of the (snow-capped - in January) Atlas mountains from your (extremely comfy) bed. This is the very private Sama room on the rooftop terrace. The staff at the hotel (all women) are exceptionally nice and helpful, especially the manager Miriam (Maryam?). Although the staff don't speak much English it's easy to muddle through with a few words of French. The food is excellent, and the cook prepared special vegetarian meals for us. Breakfast is delicious, especially the homemade fig jam and the orange jam (80-90% fruit content), and the Moroccan pancakes. There's quite a contrast between the Morocco you see inside and outside the hotel. However, we found the people of Taroudant very friendly - and there are enough men around that speak good English if you need directions or help - but if you are women alone take care at night. It's a very male place and even modestly dressed Western women attract attention, particulalry outside the peak tourist season. Overall, a really wonderful town and a superb hotel.

meryem is a wonderful manager and her team also.
We are aware of the poor english of our team, nowedays Hannan the new assistant manager learn english an soon Meryem will do the same.
Already as you kindly explain with goodwill and maroccan mixed with french it's easy to understand your wish.

This place is quite a find. It is a lovely hotel, done in traditional style and tastefully decorated in the muted tones typical of this part of Morocco. The bedrooms and bathrooms are unusually spacious. Everything is impeccably maintained. There is a charming garden with fountains, abundant flowering plants, plenty of seating, and a large pool. A rooftop area has further space for lounging around, with views over the town. The restaurant offers excellent breakfasts and some very tasty Moroccan dinners with a bit of French flair added. There is free wi-fi service but you may have to go to the downstairs area to get a strong enough signal. There are no TVs in the rooms but a large TV in the main lounge has a variety of western channels and news outlets. The staff are helpful, efficient, and friendly. The location is excellent -- in a quiet residential area right in the middle of the medina, but only a few minutes walk from the busy souks. Prices are low for a hotel of this quality so you get good value for money. I look forward to staying here again.

Highly recommended for its attention to detail and beautiful stylish interiors. Hidden away in the centre of the town, the hotel is an elegant surprise, full of beautiful objects and a lovely garden. The staff are all women, which makes a welcome change - as any traveller in Morocco will tell you. Not much English spoken, but all of the staff speak French.
