“Disappointing”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

When we arrived we found the resort almost empty, the two adjoining resorts were closed and all guests moved into the one area. It is also some considerable distance from Mombasa. For any sort of entertainment, which was very limited, you had to go to the adjoining resort. We had asked for a ground floor sea view room and were given an upstairs room with no view of the sea. We had to spend a good hour in reception sorting this out. The Thomas Cook rep was of no use to us at all, we saw him once and he was making plans for us to leave a day early!!!! The staff were wonderful but the food was very poor, covered in flies and wasps. Overall, for a holiday which was relatively expensive I was very disappointed.

Had a very nice room. Good space. Went for all inclusive. The food was quite good for beeing all inclusive. The best part was their wi-fi probobly one of the best on Bambouri Beach. The staff was a little bit carefree at times. Overall a very good experience.

Room Tip: Room 201 is very nice and has a grand view over the Indian Ocean.

Me and my better half stayed here for two weeks a couple of years ago. It was our first Kenyan holiday, we have returned since. But this was an amazing place to spend a week or two. Kenya is so beautiful, If you have not been to Kenya then go! This is a great place to stay right on the beach. Plus the food is good too. Whats not too like? The sea was lovely, nice and warm. The sand was lovely, the beach boys can be a pain! but thats life as they say. It is hard to find employment in the UK at the moment due to the world crash in banking! I was in employment with one company for 17 years but that counts for little in this climate. Anyway back to the review. These beach boys are very poor with little hope of a proper job as us in the west. So they have to try to make some money trying to sell trips of bits on the beach. Or they do not eat and if they have children then as well as the wife the kids do not have any dinner either, not nice but a true. If you say no and be polite then they will be nice and polite back. Mostly nice people in Kenya like most parts of the world. JT Safari just across the road from hotel is the place to book a safari great bloke, you can trust him to make sure you are looked after. Just book this hotel, it is perfect for a great 7 or 14 day holiday right on the beach. Very good value for money. John the barman was and is a legend! Really lovely man.

Just came back from a weeks holiday in Mombasa with my family.
I already went five years ago with my wife and decided to go back after a fabulous experience last time.
As it was the first time that some of my relatives went out of Europe I couldn’t take ant chance and we were not disappointed.
We stayed at the Sentido Neptune Village hotel and it was as beautiful as ever. Even as it is “Low Season”.
Gardens are as always well maintained, the food was good and the bar was well stocked.
The rooms are nice and big and very important clean, the staff makes sure that it always stays that way. They even provided daily fresh flowers.
The rest is very simple: the pool is one of the nicest I’ve seen with a beautiful vista of the sea. The animation team is friendly and (very important for us) not pushy.

But to be honest we did not pass much time there. We were in Kenya and we would see Kenya.
For that we turned to the services of the ever smiling Julius of JT Safaris.
One big advantage we had is that we just had to cross the street to reach him but nowadays he has offices in Mombasa and Nairobi.
But in Diani there is never a problem I heard from other guests in other hotels that he was always just a phone call away.

Anyway we booked; one day tour of Mombasa and Haller park, a trip to Wasini Island and a 2 day Safari to Tsavo East.

Mombasa was alive and kicking as always and our guide Philip was fantastic he had all sorts of small stories that were all very interesting. We especially enjoyed our tour of the market due to the fact that he stopped at almost everything peculiar stall and made sure we could taste and smell everything.
Haller Park is a small animal park that emphasizes on the well being of the animals and ecology. Don’t imagine a zoo as in Europe because its nothing like that, the pens are so large that it is possible that you don’t see the animals. That why they schedule once a day special feedings. Ever felt the tongue of a giraffe?
It is however advised to go in the afternoon because they feed the animals around 15.00 hrs.

The trip with Pilli Pippa (company that owns the boat) to Wasini Island started miserably due to the rain but the crew made sure that we kept our spirits high.
After a half an hour at sea the skies cleared and we were off for a beautiful day. After two sessions snorkeling and sailing with the dolphins we stopped at a magical place on the island for a well deserved crab lunch. The way they prepare it is heavenly and there is plenty.
One thing please wear a heavy sunscreen. Do not make the same mistake I did and still regret it almost a week after.

Even after a warning from Julius that in the rainy season we wouldn’t see many animals we still decided to take a 2 day safari to Tsavo east.
On one hand he was right and we missed the big cats but it was still worthwhile and we saw all sorts of other beautiful animals thanks to our guide/driver/humorist Ken.
We even had an adventure in our adventure after we had a puncture and Ken had to replace the tire in a record time while we kept watch.
We stayed at Voi lodge and taking a swim in the middle of the Savannah it will always be something special.

To summarize we had, even if it was the second time for me, a fantastic trip. I personally highly recommend the services of Julius and his wonderful team.
Special thanks to Samson who made us feel especially welcome.

Room Tip: We were in Room 214 & 216. Close to the pool but far enough to not be bothered by the music in t...

Being fairly widely travelled, I'm not easily so pleased with hotels aboard but I can honestly say I couldn't find One fault in Neptunes. I have been to Mobassa many times previously, no other hotel offers quite the same ambiance.

Staff are friendly, polite and well mannered.
An excellent hospitality service and special attention to all guest queries and needs.

The hotel is right on the beach front, there is everything you need and more within steps of your room.

There are plenty of things to do within the hotel, I did archery, lots of pool games, dancing games, games for everyone
The hotel also has a spa within it with reasonable prices for massages, facial & body masks& peels and other treatments you can do alone or with your partner, I was able to get my nails done there too.
There are non&alcoholic cocktails & other refreshing drinks served at the poolside.

I went all inclusive, I found the food amazing, my partner couldn't help but go up for second & third helpings, consisting of a great selection with a range of choices, the fish cooked is brought from local fishermen in the morning so you are eating fresh produce caught that day, you can't get better.

You will see monkeys everyday, the monkeys are adorable, but it is advised not to feed them otherwise they begin to expect food and can get aggressive if teased with food.

I would suggest Branca Travel, across the road out on the front of the hotel next to JTs as the more suitable place to book safaris, quads, and a range of other excusions, including snokerling 'possibly with turtles & wild dolphins' and diving, aswell as a chance to fish and so much more, Branca Travel are the much cheaper alternative to booking with reps and provide a competitive rate to surrounding. Lots of people will try to sell you excusions don't go with just any, the price difference is significant.

Whatever type of holiday you want, whom ever your with, Neptunes Hotel is the correct choice for you.

Stayed at this hotel in mid December 2012 as a family. The pros - nice location beach front property with beautiful beach and swimming pools, the staff are friendly, and the activities are ok. The cons- terrible food, no variety at all this was our biggest complaint, they really need to work on their food! At some point it made sense to just eat the burgers and chips offered at the snack bar as opposed to going to the main restaurant. The rooms are very basic, i do not know about the other sister hotels, but the village rooms were not that great, they were old and damp and had weird smell! They could definitely improve on the rooms. There are many other better options for the same amount of money you will pay to stay here i honestly will opt for another place and will not be returning.....

Spent 3 nights here in December. Beautiful beach-front property. There weren't too many beach boys, which was nice. The pools were great, and the rooms were clean, cool, and quiet. The staff was very accommodating to our late departure flight and allowed us a room to shower and change in even though we'd checked out. Food was decent, and having the all-inclusive deal was great.
