Serena Beach Resort & Spa

My husband and I stayed at the Serena Beach Hotel & Spa for a conference he attended and we extended our stay to take advantage of what was on offer. This is a beautiful property built in the Swahili style situated on one of the best beaches along the Mombasa coastline. The rooms are tasteful and comfortable with lovely balconies to sit on and enjoy the tropical breeze. The F&B program offers guests a huge range of choices in either the Fountain Restaurant, Sokoni Plaza, Jahazi Grill, Ice Cream Parlour or Coffee Shop. Don't miss out on the fresh roti (Indian bread) that is served at the breakfast buffet and the Swahili coffee in the afternoons. You won't want for acitivites or sports either - windsurfing, snorkeling, diving, dhow cruises, glass-bottom boat cruises are all available. If you're after more R & R, the sparkling swimming pool with a "swim-up" bar is equally as tempting. The Maisha Spa was also delightful - the combination of a beautifully finished building (marble floors, high ceililngs) and high-quality (Elemis) products and services proved to be a real treat. I would highly reccomend this resort to anyone visiting the Mombasa area.

Room Tip: Ask for a deluxe room for slightly more space - and mention you'd like a beachfront room.

We had the best honeymoon at Serena Beach hotel and Spa last July. The staff were so helpful and kind. Food was really good and the hotel area was really beatiful. There are also much to do, windsurfing, diving, sailing, beach volley, bands playing at the evenings. Thanks for the butterflyman, bar staff, waiters, chefs and the hotels beach volley team!

We also did 2 days East Tsavo safari with Prince Adventure Tours and Travels and it was great! They had really experienced staff who made our safari succes. If you are planning on going to safari we really can recommend East Tsavo and the Prince Adventure Tours. You can contact them from websites www.princeadventure-safaris.com or email: princeadventuresafaris@yahoo.com

Enjoy your stay at Mombasa!

A really lovely oldy world style hotel - on arrival we were met with a fresh refreshing fruit drink before being shown to our room. Staff were friendly and very approachable. Food in the restaurant was excellent and not at all repetitive (we stayed for two weeks). The chef made the most fantastic cakes/gateaux - breakfast was an excellent assortment - pancakes, waffles, fruit, cereal, bread, full English breakfast etc. There was a free all day tea/coffee bar in the grounds, with great sea views. Sadly we did not see any turtles hatch this time. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 211 - own staircase entrance so no late comers walking past door - large room with...

I felt special from the moment I walked in to the moment it was time to leave. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. And don't get me started on the mouthwatering meals..especially the fresh seafood! Yummy!! And I loved the pool with inbuilt bar...so creative!! My room was clean and had a great view...Five star service all the way. I'll definitely be back.

There are not enough adjectives to describe what a spectacular stay we had at the Serena. This is a 5 star hotel at every turn. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and they sure did give us the celebrity treatment. Before our arrival, they upgraded us to a room that not only had the traditional balcony but a private one as well. Upon entering the room, they had rose petals sprinkled throughout along with a free bottle of red wine. There was plenty of free activities to enjoy. We took a sailboat ride, played beach volleyball, tried to ride a camel on the beach ( not recommended) and played tennis and racquetball on site. This resort sits right on the Indian Ocean with fantastic views. I can not understand how one couldn't be amazed at this resort.

We stayed here at the end of a 10 day Safari trip to Kenya. Thought three days on the beach would be just the thing to end the Safari Holiday. Well positioned on the Indian Ocean, nice big spacious grounds with some beautiful flowers. Room was nice, bathroom was very well laid out with both a bath and shower, only down side is the water was never hot whilst we were there. Pool area is well laid out, pool bar and snack bar well catered, the salads at lunch are superb. Main Breakfast and Dinner restaurant was nice, plenty of choice, some really interesting juices at breakfast. One slight problem was not sure there were either enough staff or maybe they were not attentive enough at the restaurant. Jahazi the on site Fish Restaurant is well worth a visit, really nice setting on the sea shore, great selection if you are a fish lover. Overall good but not outstanding

Room Tip: Ideally one facing the ocean, we were in a block in room 411 it had a side view so not great, most r...
