The resort is located next to a lagoon on the north-east side of Mauritius. Excellent place if you just want to relax on a beach-bed, soaking in the nice view. The staff at the resort is quite courteous and fairly responsive to requests (hat-tip to Cindy and Sohan). The rooms are clean and spacious, if somewhat musty. The pool is very clean, though not heated. There is a bar next to the pool and another restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served (as buffet spreads).

The resort is somewhat remote and you'll have to depend on a taxi to travel from the hotel to anywhere else in Mauritius. (This was not such a problem for us, since we were out almost every day on a tour organized by the folks at Seaside Holidays, that included pick-up and drop-off.) Drinking water at the resort is a little expensive (about 75 MUR/liter), so you'd be better off getting crates of drinking water from a super-market if you plan to stay here for more than a couple of days. The food is quite uninspiring, since they try to cater to the large number of Indian guests and at the same time not alienate their non-Indian (European/American) guests - this results in neither of these sets of guests being happy (as can be seen in heaven710's review).

As other reviewers have noted, there are dogs that frequently come on to the beach next to the resort and some times into the resort itself. The lagoon is quite shallow and somewhat rocky near this resort and appears much better on the other side (where the Le Prince Maurice is located), like the proverbial greener-grass. The resort has a nice boat-house from where you can take pedal-boats, kayaks, etc., but it's usable only between 9AM to 4PM and that too during a high tide. This severely limits its utility - we ended up never being able to use its facilities as we'd either be out during the day or there would be a low tide. During our stay of seven days, there were strong and cool winds *every evening* (and some occasional light showers), making it somewhat difficult to enjoy the beach in the evenings. The resort provides free beach towels for every guest (against a refundable deposit).

We stayed in a Deluxe Room that had a walk-in bathroom - you can only stay in such a room with someone you're intimate with or if you are somewhat uninhibited. There is a DVD player in every room and an LCD TV, but the collection of (free, against a refundable deposit) DVDs available from the resort comprises relatively-old blockbusters. You'd be better off bringing your own disks or buying them during one of your outings.

The location and rooms are good. Functional staff is diligent and upkeep is good. However food for Indians especially vegetarians leaves much to be desired. On pleading some improvement one they produced Upma for for breakfast which was not touched by anyone. When asked which of the Chefs had cooked it, all the three chefs disowned it. Same was the case with Phoas next day. Possibly they out sourced it from some shanty household. Their F&B manager, Sanjay seemed clueless. There is no market nearby whre someone could find something alternative food. When any veg dish ran short, they promptly served Brinjal fritters (Pakoras). They never provided elec iron when requested. they promised to send maint staff to fix mob charger problem, who never came. Bathroom showers need total reengineering. Water flows into bedroom.(Suite 208)

On arrival at the Hotel we were greeted with a Refreshing Drink after a very long journey which was very welcoming, as well as a nice Hot Towell to refresh ourselves.
We were then shown our Deluxe Room which was of a very good standard. After that we decided to take a look around the complex which was very beautiful indeed.

Hotel Staff;
The Staff, we couldnt ask more of as they were so helpful it was beyond belief. Always greeted with a smile and asked how you were etc.

Restaurant;
Before i came to the Hotel, I had read many bad reviews so was quite sceptical when enetring for the 1st night however, we were assured by Sanjay (Food Manager) that anything we wanted that was not on the menu, we could ask for and the Chef's kindly did this for us and the dishes were gorgeous and of incredible flavours. I think one night I tried seven different dishes on offer as well. (all lovely )

Restaurant Staff;
Brilliant Fun and friendly lovely people.

Entertainment;
The only drawback as nothing really put on in the Hotel, however it doesnt help when 90% of the guests appear to bring their own drinks and consume them in their rooms, so you can understand the Hotel not wanting to book anyone through fear of only a hanful of guests. I am pleased to say, that we were happy to contribute our budget within the Hotel Complex including the Drinks and Trips booked through the Boat House.

Overall Possible Improvements;
I think the Hotel could employ an onsite Rep who could arrange some entertainment and activity. We booked with Virgin and didnt even lay eyes on our Rep once!!
Otherwise, aside from this, the Gym area could do with some improvements.

Thanks guys. See you soon.

Keith

Dear Keith,

I thank you for your review and be sure that your feedback will be communicated to all our staff members. The management values the team and their contribution to our successes greatly.

It is a tremendous feeling to know that we contributed to a wonderful holiday as experienced by yourself.

Your comments on the tour operator representative is well noted and I will push the feedback to them. As for the gym, I will look into that.

We would be delighted to see you again and I am confident that your next visit will exceed your expectations even more.

Faithfully,

Richard Louw
