“Luxury in the middle of the mountains”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

We had just a short stay at this hotel, but we could have stayed more :)
The location is great, with a lovely view to the mountains around. Although the hotel is at the streetfront with lots of cars passing, there is no disturbing noise and you can really relax. The rooms are very big and comfortable, decorated with lots of wood, very cosy.
The food is good, although some courses may have been not that innovative as they were presented in the menue.
The only minus is that the kitchen closes at 21:00, meaning that after this you may only order some snacks. And it wouldn't have been a problem, if we only knew... As we were in the middle of nowhere, it's would have been almost impossible to get something to eat. Luckily we could convince them to cook something fast.
Oh, and the wifi is only working in the lobby area, but who needs wifi when relaxing? ;)

Room Tip: Superior Rosengarten - wonderfull view to the mountains

We just booked this hotel because we saw the picture with the sauna with a view into the trees on booking.com. When we arrived, the staff was so extremely friendly! Everybody was congratulating us with our birthdays, we got upgraded, received wine and champagne, it was just the most perfect and relaxing stay. The hotel has a breathtaking view, very clean rooms and german-style dining rooms. The sauna is just great and with the tree view as expected, the pool was empty during our stay, so we felt as the whole hotel belonged only to us :) We were in the end of August, I assume it's very different on high seasons though.

My wife and I just visited the resort this past weekend for our first wedding anniversary and we really enjoyed it here. Waking up in the morning surrounded by mountains, trees and meadows was great. The Spa is also quite good and at this time of the year it wasn't over crowded. It is just around 30 mins away from Bolzano which is quite nice and there are many other small villages around. The breakfast was also quite good, one f the best I've ever found in Italy! Staff was all pleasant and room was quite large, tidy and well kept. Food was always good as well. The indoor pool is quite large and the Spa facilities are also good. Would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting wanting to get away for a quiet break. Lots of nice and scenic driving routes are around as well :)

Room Tip: We had the double superior room - having the large balcony with that great view was definitely worth...

Stayed 3 nihgts 30/7-2/8 with trips to the Dolomites, this review is based only on our own subjective experience.
It was great as we were looking for a place to sleep and we found a luxury hotel.
Everything written in their site became true and much more then that.
Located a bit far (30 min from Canasei) but it is so good that it worth it
Everything is clean and maintained.
The staff is always there for you
We entered late at night and they waited for us. They were also available and promptly responsive by email.
Service was excellent.
We did not have the time to use the free of charge spa, as we returned late (after 21:00) but we entered the spa and it is of a high level for sure.
We did use the swimming pool and the integrated jacuzzi and it was clean and quiet with relaxing atmosphere (light of candles and so on, rolled towels actually saying "use me"...).
The hotel was full but it seemed that we were almost alone there.
In the lobby there is a free wifi for the guests.
The breakfast was very good with eggs cooked on the spot according to each person's choice and variety of cheeses, vegetables, juices, cakes, coffee of all kinds and so on.
Value for money!!!
A place to come again without the kids
I almost forgot the new great Jim
As said, except for the distance, it was not less than perfect.

This was our second time in the hotel. We stayed for 12 days. The room was nice and clean but I guess the thing we liked the most about the hotel was the dinner: It is hard to believe how much quality you can still get today for just 30 Euro. The chefs are simply great. Each and every night the dinner was something to look forward to ;-). The staff always had a good advice which wine to choose.
The only thing which might be improved kitchenwise is the bowel of chopped fruit at the breakfast bouffet (the fruit salad to put in your youghurt). Sometimes one can taste the fruit has been chopped at least one day ago as it is slowly getting the "fermented fruit" taste. But nothing serious, really. And I love the possibility to make fresh juice every morning!

The hotel Spa is better than what you usually get in the price range, you can have breakfast outside when the weather allows it and it is good. It is also great to have the freedom to dine in one of the several possible places (dinner room, fireplace room, lounge, outside, ...).

Finally, all the hotel staff is really friendly. We kind of bought too much wine in Kaltern and were allowed to store the wine in a cool place so that it will not go bad in the hot car. It is also these small things which make the stay in this hotel really pleasant!

I tryed to book on 29 September a relaxing week end (Saturday and Sunday) on 15 and 16 October (and I gave them also the alternatives of 22 and 23 October).

They answered me by email that they can't book a room for us so in advance because they should wait to see if someone else wants the rooms for a whole week.
They told me to call them after 10 October in order to know the availability, but they didn't assure me if they have available rooms or not.

So I should wait for 10 October and risk not to have a room and loose the possibility to spend a week end as I've scheduled? Why?

Sorry, but this is not a service for an hotel of 4 starts. I have called other 4 hotels and made the same request and they confirmed me immediatly the availability and the possibility to book the room.

I don't suggest this hotel: they don't offer a serious hotel.

Dear customer,

in reference to your comment we would like to explain you the situation.

Since we did not have available rooms for your first desired weekend, we offered you different options to spend your vacation in our hotel.

Further, we could not yet accept your reservation, since we have contingents of several rooms which we cannot give away, before the deadline of these contingents is over. That is the reason, why we cannot give you a precise confirmation until the 10th of October.

We really tried to find a solution and to fulfill your desires. We regret your opinion of our hotel since you did not yet spend a vacation in our hotel.

We thank you for your feedback and we really hope to have the opportunity to welcome you in our hotel and to convince you of our excellent service and quality, since our philosophy is to give our guests a personalized and unforgettable vacation and experience.

Sincerely,
Family Pichler and team

I had great expectations for this hotel, but somehow managed to go away disappointed. The hotel has a lot going for it. I enjoyed the shuttle service to the slopes (so convenient! we never had to wait more than 10 minutes), the beautiful decor of the common areas, the view from the sauna and the nice, albeit a bit too fancy restaurant. Another thing worth mentioning is that the same family owns two very nice restaurants in the Obereggen ski resort and it is possible to reserve a table through the hotel, which is extremely convenient, especially in high season.
But the room was disappointing - very large and clean but outdated, especially the bathroom, which was really below par. The pool was also a bit disappointing and we ended up not going there very often, since the hotel wasn't strict on its no kids after 6 p.m. policy and it was always very loud. Service left things to be desired with check-in and check-out taking way too long (the latter due to some problems with their computer). In my opinion the atmosphere was too formal for an alpine hotel, but that's a matter of taste. Overall, I found it to be a rather average experience.
