“A relaxing escape from Life!”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

The hotel is located on the coast of Cape Panwa and is approximately a 40 minute drive from the airport. The hotel is right by the coast and there a few shops and restaurants around but not too many. The Phuket Aquarium is a few minutes’ walk away from the Hotel.

On the Hotel website, we noticed that you can arrange airport transfers directly with them and we emailed the hotel to arrange this. It costs THB1000 for a one-way transfer or THB2000 for a return transfer. Unfortunately, despite re-confirming our booking a few days prior; we ended up waiting at the airport for over an hour for someone from the hotel to be at arrivals. When we called the Hotel, they did not have an idea of our airport transfer booking. As it was quite late in the evening, we ended up bargaining with a local taxi driver and managed to get a taxi to the hotel for THB800. He made a pit stop at a travel agent and 2 ladies came to see us wanting to know if we would like to book excursions but we declined. Upon arriving at the hotel, we mentioned to Reception that we had waited for over an hour and even showed them the email correspondence confirming that we had booked for an airport transfer. We got upgraded to a one bedroom suite from a studio as a token to good will.

The hotel runs shuttle services to Phuket, Central Festival and to Patong Beach and you can book onto the shuttle from Reception. There is also a regular shuttle service every 15 minutes to the Cape Panwa Hotel where you can make use of all the guest facilities at this Hotel which includes a private beach. The drive to Cape Panwa hotel is only 2 minutes but it would take much longer to walk as the road is incredibly steep uphill. You can even learn how diving at Cape Panwa every Tue, Thu and Sat from 15:30 until 18:00. The Cape Panwa hotel has two swimming pools, a spa and beauty salon, water sport facilities, a fitness centre and several restaurants and bars.

The hotel has a small gym and a nice swimming pool which cannot be used after 10 or 11pm. Reception provides you with towels which you need to sign for at Reception. The reception/lobby area has a tour desk as well as many leaflets and information guides from tour companies. If you are interested in any tour package you have seen in a leaflet, just let Reception know and they can get it booked for you on your behalf. For anything that you need to book, Reception will advise you what the deposit charge will be - it is normally a fraction of the package cost with the balance payable at your destination.

The hotel has 2 or 3 of their own restaurants, a breakfast room and if you walk further away from Reception you get to another building which has a pool on the top floor and plenty of sunbeds.

If you need access to the Internet, speak to Reception who will provide you with a username and password to the Wi-Fi service.

There is a restaurant to the right of the Hotel main vehicular entrance called Sawasdee that is incredibly great value for food and drinks and has a really relaxed ambience. Next door to that there is also a small grocery store where you can buy snacks, bakery items, drinks, toiletries or pharmacy items. During the day, the store has an extension to it which includes a coffee shop that does hot drinks as well as ice cream and cakes. If you want a massage or beauty treatment, there is a family run business just round the corner and at very reasonable rates called Professional Lotus Spa. They are open from 10am to 10pm and very good value for money. The lady that owns the place is very nice.

The one bedroom suite consisted of an open plan living room and kitchen area. As there were 3 of us, we had a large double bed in the bedroom, a foldable bed kept in the lounge area, a TV, coffee table, three and two seater sofas and a dining table for 4. There was complimentary tea, coffee and instant noodles. The kitchen had cutlery kitchenware, a washing machine and a fridge with complimentary water. Also, there is air conditioning in the room and nice heavy curtains to keep the sun out whilst you sleep.

The bedroom has built in wardrobes, a pedestal for your luggage, a small dressing table and two bed side tables. There was a safe in the room where you could store your personal belongings and there is laundry bags if you needed to get any times dry cleaned.
We also had a balcony that faced the coast so we had excellent views of the coast especially at sunset. In the balcony there were patio seating and a small table as well as laundry drying stands which we made use of as we carried our own washing tablets with us.

The bathroom was very large with a toilet, sink, toiletries, a bath tub and a shower cubicle. There were also fresh clean towels available.

The breakfast room is very casual and offers lots of fruit, cereals, pastries, eggs made of order as well as rice, noodles and stir fry if you fancy that too. Tea, coffee and juices are also available. Breakfast is served until 10am.

Overall, this hotel was a very comfortable place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of city life and is extremely relaxing.

Kantary Bay Hotel is like a second home to my husband and I. It is the perfect place to escape the British winter. The hotel has everything needed for a thirty day stay: a comfortable, clean studio room with kitchen area, bathroom,tv,cd player and dvd player plus a really comfy bed. The view from our balcony is just beautiful. The breakfast room is pleasant and the food is good.We used Uncle Nan's restaurant and had an excellant meal. I can recommend the sea bass.
What makes this hotel special is the staff. They are helpful, friendly and a pleasure to know. From the warm welcome to the fond farewells its a happy place to stay in.
The restaurants around the hotel area are very good with everyone having their own favourites.Once again staff are friendly and welcoming.
The beach at Cape Panwa hotel is lovely.Though it was busy sometimes it was not unpleasantly so. Everyone seemed to have a beach bed and umbrellas. The beach bar is one of our favouritr places for an ice cold chang followed by a light lunch. Thanks to Sandie and Jenny for their care.
Last of all staying at Kantary Bay is such a pleasure because of all the really nice people we got to know. We chatted with guest from both hotels and people from a variety of different countries. A great way to pass the winter.

We arrived early January shattered after the 24hr door to door journey. On arrival greeted by Somjai (General Manager )" Ning " , "M ." and the wonderful Reception Girls. After welcome cool drink and refreshing towels we were in our usual 1 bedroom apartment in minutes. New controls for the aircon demonstrated and then we were "Home " again.
Since last year the Hotel has opened a new Ice cream/ coffee shop adjoining the "Trading Post" mini market and it does really well.
Laem Panwa Restaurant has undergone a make over , rising a couple of steps to the decked Table area . (more lighting needed , hard to read the Menus).
The Hotel seemed fully booked through January and most of February.so Breakfast Room could be crowded at peak times, however Uncle Nans Restaurant area took the overflow nicely..
A word of praise to the "Egg Chefs", you name it they did it!
The facilities of the Cape Panwas are to be enjoyed, two swimming pools and combined with very nice Beach are an unbeatable combination with the Kantary.( would like to see more beach sunbeds and umbrellas ).
For a change from the local "Stir Fry " restaurants we enjoyed a weekly treat at the "Top of the Reef " (Asri and his staff so good) and at the Sea Food BBQ or Steak BBQ Buffets.using the 10 for 13 meal tickets.
Adul ,driver for the Hotel "link" bus a real gentleman always willing to give a helping hand to those who need it. Krisna a stalwart in the KB Breakfast room and Laem Panwa, a tireless worker.
By now you will realise we love the two hotels and the helpful staff. When it was time to go home w ere given a lovely farewell by the Kantary Management ,Reception Girls and our friends.
Given the current UK weather we have increased our stay next year to three months from the usual two months. Roll on 2014.our tenth visit.
Don't leave your booking too late !

Room Tip: Studios and one bed apartments mid to higher floorsrs for best outlooks.

We stayed in this hotel for 7 nights in a studio room. It was in a beautiful location and the room was great- spacious with separate, kitchen, living and bedroom areas. The view from the balcony was amazing- watched the sunset every day and had great views over the sea. There were 2 separate swimming pools, one on the roof and one larger pool surrounded by rooms. There were lovely gardens and a small street market which set up out on the road every evening. The hotel was linked with another which was 5 mins away in a shuttle bus. The other hotel had several pools and a beautiful beach where you can hire canoes, snorkels etc! The only real draw backs to the hotel are that it is a bit out of the way and it costs at least 400 baht to go anywhere in a taxi. But we discovered that if you wait at the aquarium there is a blue bus that runs to phuket for 30 baht each. It runs between 7am and 4pm about every half hour. From phuket you can pretty much get a bus anywhere but if you dont want an expensive taxi ride back you have to catch the bus back before 4pm! The hotel also ran a shuttle bus service to and from Phuket town, patong and central festival shopping centre for 160 baht minimum each. The food in the hotel was really expensive but the many neighbouring restaurants were much more reasonable and just as nice!

If you are looking for somewhere fairly relaxed and quiet I would definitely recommend this hotel. The service is top notch & the staff are very helpful and polite. I liked the apartment style feel to the room which made it feel very spacious. It was good to have the connecting bus to the sister hotel in order to the use the facilities there and the beach which is well kept. Mini buses are organised to places such as Patong and the shopping malls which comes in very handy. Enjoyed our stay there!

Room Tip: Rooms at one side of the hotel over look another building and a building site, not much of a view fr...

After a 2 month stay, we recently arrived back from our third visit to this excellent hotel.
I can only reiterate the comments from other returning guests below. All the staff, without exception, are fantastic. They are so welcoming, friendly, cheerful, and do everything they can to make our stay so enjoyable.
As on previous visits, we were welcomed back by the staff as part of the family and it is always great to meet friends we have come to know very well since our first visit and those we met for the first time this year.
This is our second home. We have already booked for next year and are considering extending our stay. We couldn’t wish for anything better. This is the perfect place to escape the UK winter weather.
A special thanks to M(Boonsong) for getting up early to give us our ‘packed breakfasts’ and to wish us well as we left the hotel at 4:30am for our early morning flight to Bangkok, typifying the Kantary Bay attitude towards its guests.
Looking forward to Kantary Bay, 2014.

We've just got back from a great 10 night holiday in Phuket. Our welcome at the hotel after a really long journey was lovely and friendly. We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom apartment overlooking the pool which was very well equipped. The staff could not have been more helpful and delightfully friendly whatever the time of day.. On the last day we were not leaving until late and they let us have a room free of charge until we were due to be picked up.
There was a good bus service to the sister hotel on the other side of the bay which had a brilliant beach. The area was quiet but very pleasant with an adequate choice of restaurants and there was a reasonable local bus service to the main town. All in all a brilliant holiday
