“Come and Relax!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Just returned from a 15 night say in Thailand, 13 nights of which we stayed at the Kantary Bay.
The staff on reception are always helpful, the hotel is smart and clean. The fact that you have the use of the two pools at the Kantary Bay, as well as being allowed to use the pools at the Cape Panwa Hotel made it even better. Being by the roof top pool for the late afternoon was a pleasure, watching the sun going down behind the islands to the west of the hotel was great.
We had room 352, a single room apartment, everything you needed was there including a washer machine and a microwave. This hotel is the place to go if you just want to relax.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as it proved to be excellent value.

we arrived to kantary bay for 1 night and end up spending there 5 great nights, this place is amazing, the room was large, clean and comfortable. breakfast is great, rich and fresh. the staff are very kind and willing to help you any way you please. the hotel makes shuttles from the hotel to phuket town, to the night market and to patong beach (it cost between 170-200 baht per person). but if you please to pay much less there is a bus stop right next to the hotel that charge 30 baht to phuket town and take about 15 min (but it works until 4pm- you should ask the front desk about the bus time table). this hotel has sister hotel named "cape panwa" it is really near by "kantary bay", cape panwa is very very exclusive hotel and a room there costs about 3 or 4 times more then a room in kantary bay, but as a guess in kanyart bay you may use all the facilities inclוding the private and very very beauty beach. the restaurants there very good especially the thai food restaurant that located on the beach and has the BEST Thai deserts,
i will definitely come back to this hotel or maybe if i have enough money i will go next time to cape panwa

My partner and I stayed in Kantary Bay, Phuket during 8th to 16th of October 2012. We experienced a great service from all the staff from this hotel. Although this is a 4 stars hotel, it has everything you can have in 5 stars hotel. There are two swimming pools, one is on the ground floor and the other on is on the roof top. We always used the roof top one because you can fantastic view from there, the ocean is just cross the hotel.
This hotel is suitable for all range of people, there are plenty restaurants along the street and only takes 30 mins to Patong Beach.

Thanks again to all the friendly and helpful staff, Sudarat, Thiwaporn.T Penprapa, Jindanuch, Viyada and Nim and whoever I don't know the names... you guys sensational service gave us the greatest holiday!

Paul and Eric from Room 432

Room Tip: Ask for a ocean view room if available :)

Having spent many a good time at the Cape Panwa hotel. This year we booked at the Kantary Bay mainly because it was over £400 cheaper. The staff fell over backwards to make our stay the best ever... We went from the 4th Oct to the 21st. Although not as lush as the Cape Panwa the accomodation was excellent... Our maid for that floor was the best.....She was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for her. The reception staff were also the best ever... My only complaint was that there was a very heavy Chinese presense....They seemed like a plauge of locusts every breakfast time with over filled breakfast plates....Even filling doggy bags... I found this very annoying and they were very rude to the breakfast staff.....All in all I would highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Go high... The views are really good

A Kantarian is not a character from Star Trek it is a confirmed guest at the Kantary Bay Hotel. The Hotel stands at the base of a ridge back hill forming a promentry. On one side is the previously reviewed Cape Panwa Hotel on the other is the sister hotel The Kantary Bay. Financial necessety drove the decision to change hotel but it is not one I will ever regret. We paid less than £400 for 15 nights bed and Breakfast through Alpharooms and whilst the rooms are not as luxourious as the Cape Panwa Hotel they are superb value for money and very spacious. Walking into the Studio room you have the bath room to one side and a kitchenette on the othe featuring microwave toaster kettle cups plates and utensiles.. Moving forward there is a "living" area with couch , chair and tv unit complete with flat screen TV and media unit. You drop down two stairs to a "sleeping" area featuring a double bed wardrobe and dresing table. The whole thing is set off by sliding patio doors onto the balcony.
The Kantary Hotel shares all the facilities with the Cape Panwa so the private beach , resturant and bars come within your compass.
The Hotel caters for retirees so we bump into many people we have met in previous years. You can book an off season month for around £550 which includes bed/breakfast, transfers and a weekly trip into Phuket town to do shopping and banking etc.
The jewel in crown is the roof top pool on the Bay Wing. The palce is only enhabitable after 4pm when the sun is going down and it is getting cooler unless youn want to sunbathe in baking heat.
In the Cape Panwa review I have extolled the virtues of the local "Mom and Pop" resturants that flurish around the Hotel. To this list I now need to add "On The Beach" and Sabai Sabai (2) which is on the main road into the resort as oposed to Sabai Sabai (1) which is on the hill between the Hotels.
In Summary this is a fantastic holiday makers hotel. As a holiday maker I want to sleep, dress and get ready to go out when on holiday so certain standards need to be met. The Kantary meets all my requirements at half the price of the Cape. If you want a luxury room go to the Cape I recommend it, if you want a comfortable room to prepare to go to the beach and get ready to go out at night for food and drink the Kantary ticks all the boxes.

Room Tip: High floors mobility permitting . The Bay wing has an elevator to the 3rd Floor and stairs to the 4t...

Great peaceful location with easy access to great beaches, bars and restaurants. Very friendly staff. The rooftop pool is great for sunbathing and great views. Russell's sunset bar is just around the corner for some quiet drinks and the facilities of the Cape Panwa hotel are only a 5 minute bus journey up the hill. Fantastic.

we stayed for one week but met with people staying a month or that repeatedly returned on long term trips.

after we booked the holiday, I wrote to them on their email from the website and asked for a quiet room with nice view, they responded very quickly and said i had allocated a lovely room with sea view. when we got there we'd been upgraded from a studio to a one bed apartment for free and I can tell you we would have been happy in the studio but our apartment was amazing with views all around (room 342), we were below the pool and there was a small amount of disturbance when the early shift set out the chairs etc in the pool area, but slept through most of it anyway.

the staff speak well in english and are ready to jump into action, they always greet you and can tell immediately if the greeting was it or you need help. i called them meercats because that is what they were like.

we had a hire car and always found a way to park but it was off peak so don't think you'd find it so easy peak season.

the area itself is quiet and we found it difficult to find the local restaurants interesting, but the indian around the corner was a different take on things and not bad, the hotel restaurants were ok, but for some reason I didn't find the seafood restaurant appealing although i was told it was good, i just didn't fancy it. the italian was not bad food and service was A1. the restaurant about 150 yards or so on the corner opposite the navy base wasn't very good in my opinion but other guests say it it good, I had steak and afterwards told local thai steak that is not imported is not so good so maybe I made a bad choice, but what was annoying was the staff all taking fag breaks in the front entrance which puts me off altogether.

The room and hotel itself has been well used but spotlessly clean.

we found that the free internet in reception worked in our room so we didn't have to pay the premium they asked for to use it in the room.

we went to the cape panwa on the regular bus, it was great too. take some bread to the pier and the fish will swarm up.

both hotels are great for the pool and beach in CP atmostphere, so if that is your thing and you can't afford the luxury cape panwa then don't hesitate to book into the Kantary Bay, because let's face it you are on a budget and for the money you will be happy enough. although on the CP beach there are staff serving drinks direct to your sunbed which will cost a bucket, so perhaps you will take your own when you realise you can't keep up with the rich set.

Phuket town is not what you think it is, no shops really - what a dissapointing squaller town and never want to go there again. the other beaches on the west side of the island are worth a visit if you can get a hire car get over there to see what you are or not missing out on.

a good restaurant nearby is the point bistro (on the left a couple of miles up the road towards Phuket) it is amazing food - up in my top 5 restaurant dinners ever - it is that good.

if you don't want to pay lots of money for laundry, look carefully on the right towards phuket (within a mile i think) and you will find a laundrette and you can put washing in a machine and sit with a book for 30 mins while it washes.

if you do ask for a one bed apartment, the room next to us has a very good sea view and a washing machine on the balcony rm 343.

breakfast was really good compaired to the other 2 hotels we stayed in thailand, they had catered for all tastes and it was hot too.

be aware that many travellers to phuket are russian who are ok, but the chinese are very noisy in the restaurants, just note that this is what it is like there.

enjoy.

Room Tip: 343 has a washing machine, but 341 and 342 are good sea view one bed apartments. some of the rooms...
