Stayed at Cape Panwa for 7 nights in January. The staff are incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly - they couldn't do enough to help.
Location: We arrived at the hotel knowing it was in a more remote location. The hotel provides a shuttle service (nominal charge compared to taxis) to Old Phuket and Patong, however they are at fixed times. Taxis are about 400bhat each way to Old Phuket, but this gives you greater flexibility. There is a very small 'village' at the bottom of the hill (the hotel provided a shuttle bus which runs every 20 minutes, although it is an easy walk if you are active) where there are restaurants and a seven eleven. Of an evening, a few food carts/stalls arrive. If you intend to explore Phuket Island, factor in the costs of taxis.
Rooms: The hotel very kindly upgraded us to a cape suite with beautiful views across the sea. This was greatly appreciated for various reasons. The rooms are spread out across the property, and hence views/accessibility varies greatly - take this into account when booking. In our opinion, the cape suites were in the best location and had the best views. Housekeeping were very friendly.
Food: We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The breakfast was plentiful, and the 'fruit' and 'egg' stations were excellent. Again, waitressing staff were very obliging and always ready to provide tea/coffee . In the evening we chose...Stayed at Cape Panwa for 7 nights in January. Again, waitressing staff were very obliging and always ready to provide tea/coffee . In the evening we chose to eat at the restaurants in the village as the restaurants in the hotel only provided set menus. Not that we used it, but room service was very reasonable.
Pool/Beach: We choose to stay by the pool area. There were always plenty of sun loungers/towels available, and the attendants were very attentive. Note that the hotel is close to a port, and hence there are quite a few ships passing. This turned me off from swimming in the sea, but the main pool was large, deep and spotlessly clean. (There is also a shallow pool for children).
It is the staff who make this hotel special. Management are visible and approachable. In particular, we would like to thank Vaew for her unbelievable kindness during an unplanned event.More
