Just arrived back from Cape Panwa Hotel after a 2 week stay. Having arrived from a short stay in Bangkok it was a shock to arrive at the Cape Panwa Hotel not as modern or slick as the Bangkok hotel, but clean rooms, great views and beautiful landscaped surroundings made up for that. The beach is the biggest draw to the Cape Panwa Hotel. The beach bar staff were also so friendly and helpful which made it a joy to visit and catch up with them each day throughout the lunch time. Nightlife is laid back most other guest were sociable, the Light house pub located within the grounds had a live band most nights and a great happy hour closing at 1am. Eat at Panwa House Restaurant for some great classical Thai food and a truly romantic setting on the beach in the Sino-Portugese building the original house built for the owner of the coconut plantation the hotel has been built on. Cape Panwa, alittle old school, chilled and informal.

Well what can I say apart from I have had the most amazing holiday and thanks goes hugely to the wonderful Cape Panwa Hotel. We booked through Thomson worldwide and arrived in Phuket via Kuala Lumpar and we collected our bags quickly and then taken again promptly to ourconditioned transport for the approx 1 hours ride down to Cape Panwa. We arrived and walked into the gorgeous reception area to met with a cold compress and the most delightful smiles. We were given room E305 and as i had requested an uninterrupted sea view room I was extremely impressed. The bellboys brought our bags along immediately and we were met by the most beautiful view across the bay with the beach to the right hand side, there were swans (made out of towels( and orchid petals littering the bed! It was our 25 wedding anniversary in 3 days time and they had given us the honeymoon treatment - a gorgeous cake wih 'happy honeymoon' was duly delivered approx an hour after our arrival with plates and forks and napkins. I really thought that at that point things couldnt get any better!
The beds were so comfortable and huge! The balcony had like a double sunbed with 2 chairs and many evenings we would sit in comfort and watch the sunset and beautiful pink skies!
The rooms were cleaned everyday and we had fresh towels everyday and bed linen if not everyday then every other day. Our cleaner was a delight and even spotted that it was my birthday after my wedding anniversary and another 'happy birthday' cake was then delivered - what service, it was fantastic.
The staff at reception were delighful and one of the lads, unfortunately I cant remember his name always remembered our room number if we left our key. Their manner was simply stunning - customer service exemplary is what we said.
We ate a couple of times in the hotel especially in Cape Panwa house on the beach (so romantic) to walk along the beach with the little crabs after and the food was gorgeous, the breakfasts were plentiful ranging from omelettes, pancakes, fruit, cheeses, yoghurts, thai food and there was not a day that went by without the wonderful smiling face of 'Ice' serving us tea!
You must go to the otters bar for your liquer coffee, it takes them 5 minutes to make it for you in an amazing detailed way, it was lovely way to finish off dinner.
The beach was fantastic and cleaned every day amd fascinating the way the coral was exposed when the tide went out - loads of things to look at if you walked along the pontoon (slippery though). The staff by the beach were great, Jennifer who was hand rearing 2 squirrels who had fell out of their nests (Fernando & Bamboo) who we named was a real star and such a lovely lady!
We did eat at Sawasdee as i had been recommended by loads of people on TA which was a small restaurant where the bus drops you off by Kantary Bay, and the food and service at Sawasdee was excellent! I think we ate there many times.
We did not suffer with our stomachs, as we had taken the travel probiotic tablets that we always take and ate the yoghurts everyday! We did suffer a couple of mosquito bites, but not as many as we thought as we did visit the mainland of Thailand to elephant trek.
Overall this holiday was one in a million, with thanks to probably the people of Phuket/Thailand and with thanks to Cape Panwa Hotel - a Hotel which is one in a million.

We have just returned back from the most fantastic holiday at the Cape Panwa Hotel. We booked with Kuoni and experienced pure luxury from the moment we arrived in Phuket airport. We were collected in an air-conditioned vehicle and transported swiftly to our hotel (1 hour transfer time), which did not seem far since there was so much to look at on the way.

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by the most fantastic open aired lobby and so many smiling faces. We checked in and to our surprise we received so many goodies and freebies from the hotel. We felt like royalty. Included was a free trip to coral island, free 1 hours Thai massage (amazing), free use of watersports for one hour, 2 free drinks, free try scuba dive in swimming pool (5 mins).

Our room was 0103 and we had the most amazing sea view from our balcony. It was also equipped with a sunbed and table and chair set. Our room was great- all we needed… satellite TV, shower, bath, hairdryer (in draw), tea and coffee making facilities- all perfect and spotlessly clean. The maid would also decorate our bed with orchids each day. There have been reviews about the hotel needing renovation. Personally we did not think this was the case.

The beach was so fantastic- spotless, idyllic, beautiful… heaven. Sunbeds were plentiful and staff would rush to help you install the parasol. There was a tram to the beach which was great… so useful. Swimming was great- snorkelling was a little hard due to poor visibility but the water was so warm we tried any way!

The pools were also spotless and beautiful. We had fresh beach towels every day.

The staff were fantastic, so courteous and only to pleased to help. Two members of staff in particular, went out of their way to help us they were Jongrak and Ratiphat at the Front Desk. They were only to pleased to explain about the island and the local delicacies. They even picked up some fruit for us to try- free of charge!

The food in the hotel was great and so cheap compared to the UK. There were others places around the hotel to eat but we ended up eating at the hotel most nights because it was just so easy. The cocktails were great- again very reasonable about £2.40 each!
Breakfast was great with so much choice and as much as you want. There were pancakes, pastries, sausages, bacon, eggs (anyway you want them), noodles and so much more.

We used Barry London tailors outside the hotel. They made us the most perfect cashmere suits and also did some alterations for us. Great quality for a great price (~£100 for tailored cashmere suit, shirt and tie).

On our last day we were able to check out of our room at 3pm and were offered complimentary use of the Internet and free tea, coffee and cakes-, which was much appreciated.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. We are planning our return trip next year. If you are looking for a perfect luxury beach holiday for a reasonable price, then this is the place for you- we love it!

Id been previously in 04 to phuket and stayed at the le meridien yaht club , my choice was to have returned back to this hotel but my husband didnt want to hire a car and thought it was to isolated not to , id done a bit of research on the cape panwa as well as getting a great rate at 260 pound for the two of us with breakfast with netflights for 8 nights.
This trip was much cheaper than i have previously spent on holidays to thailand as it was done quite last minute and id deliberately had chosen cheaper accommodation than i would normally have done.

We arrived just after mid day and was met by the female that does the meet and greet and the duty manager, it was immediately, passport, credit card and hotel voucher then a map shoved in my face to explain the resort, i thought they were surly and really pushy for the documents , i couldnt find the hotel voucher although they had there own confirmation and they kept saying we need it, so in the end i said it must be in the UK i havent received it, id instead brought all the confirmations id received by netflights , i thought they were not going to let us check in, anyway in the end they said if you can get hold of it that will be fine, but I felt for a thai welcome it was below average. And this was my first impression.

Given froom F203 which i had asked for a room in F block, i liked the location of the room but these are for couples it had good views of the sea opposed to the bay and near to the upper pool and resturants such as top of the reef resturant and the breakfast resturant.

Room was fine, large bed, good wardrobe , remote for tv didnt work and batteries never got replaced in the 9 days of our stay, limted drawer space, what let the room down was the tiny bathroom which was average, and the cupboard under the sink was a concrete base so not ideal to put stuff in it ie bathroom products.

Two towells also (bath sheets) , i got more towells daily and needed more hangers which came pretty swiftly by housekeeping.

Balcony was some what obstructed by the palm trees and the day bed i thought cluttered the balcony, the table was wobbly and not once in 9 days was this balcony swept or cleaned. There was dirt also from day one to the end in the same place on the balcony door.

There was beetle/cockroach which lived on our balcony for the whole duration of our stay it had missing legs so we left it as it would have died had we have tossed it into the gardens. That shows the maid never did anything on the balcony and some debris tissue from previous guest under day bed.

This wing also totally looks over the pool villa pools so for those that do get a pool villa you can be seen when in the pools.

The room was cleane daily and sheets etc changed but i never felt it had a good clean just a bit of a tidy up and i dont think it was hovered daily. No turn down service.

Breakfast offered a lot of choice but was tasteless in my opinion for the hot western food, and every single day we had to ask for a teaspoon, with our coffee- now i may sound like a moaner and im not expecting at what i paid the banyan tree but in my opinion the cape panwa was not in the league im used to from thai hotels.

Sausages are undercooked and that is what make people sick not the area as stated by a another poster.
Juice is bought in not fresh which is normal for good hotels in thailand.

Top of the reef resturant offered good food and good service as did otters bar but the main service around the pool was average.
I never saw the alledged pool guy.

sunloungers by the pool were cramped and sort of fixed within the cabannas , at full capacity loungers would be hard to get as they had towells on them from early am and often never got used, no staff either as such to monitor this.
you collect your own towell from the stand.

The sea is lovely and when the weather was good was nice to swim in but i found the beach staff on the whole lazy and didnt clean up much around the beach, although i did feel the girl ,jenny worked very hard.

I thought the hotel was ok for what i paid but id do think there is a lot better, i found many guests were repeat guests who literally only go to phuket or many that have gone to thailand as its much cheaper than europe so for those the hotel is prob great but not for me.

The spa was nice - and i had a couple of treatments and a pedicure.
But they put you in the loo or shower to change, we went twice and same thing both times, had a thai and hot oil massage and head treatment.

most days we just just relaxed around the grounds.

we went to top of the hill for dinner nearest resturant outside the hotel , that was good as was the fish resturant near to sawadee , sawadee was busy most nights but most food was fried and fish needed to be preordered so we didnt bother.
yet sawadee gets rave reviews i thought it was fried , fried and more fried food.

I liked to eat at top of the reef overall and we tended to eat in there but i thought the food at top of the hill was good although a bit rough around the edges ie dead plants but never mind.

Also had dinner one night at Uncle Nams - sister hotel, pizza and that was fine.

Used happy hour at the hotel which was fine better wine than outside.

I didnt think the hotel was expensive and costs were fine , i thought top of the reef was well priced, id didnt do the theme buffets but they appeared very popular and kids eat free under 12.

I felt the hotel was very british with not much of a mix of internationals ,

The taxi service at the hotel is overpriced to leave the area but you are a capative audience and even down the hill they use the same rates and often its the cape panwa bus you go in.

I felt we didnt do what we would have like because of these taxi costs ie they wanted approx 40 pound return to go to kata, i missed not having a car, and found the trip was better first time as we could explore and see stuff that you cant without a car, id recommend getting one with a good insurance package and perhaps avoid the busier areas of phuket and keep your wits about you with the mopeds etc.

Roads are dark at night hotel cab hit a dog , but didnt stop and it ran off , how it survied i dont know maybe ran off in shock it was one hell of a bum

wifi is free but terribly slow so we had a connection sent to the room 700 baht for 5 hours, business centre was 100 bath for 20 minutes.
Shuttles back and forth to main areas but infrequent.
Free bus to sister hotel every 10 minutes.
