“Great place and great stay”
Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

Thanks to all at Cape Panwa Hotel. Had a one week stay in May in a Cape suite. All staff extremely friendly and helpful. A great place for a relaxing stay away from the rat race.
The shuttle between the two hotels was a great idea allowing you freedom to move around easily. Whirlpool fantastic and beach excellent.

Our first holiday in Thailand and nowhere could be more beautiful than the beach at the Cape Panwa hotel, Phuket. The staff were wonderful, friendly, polite, obliging and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent and the room ( a deluxe junior suite) was perfect. Thank you Cape Panwa for a delicious birthday cake too! Fabulous restaurants nearby if you don't want to eat at the hotel each night. Try the Sea Breeze and Sawadee.

Beautiful hotel with its own private beach, nice pools, great rooms (recently refurbished), good options of dining in the hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful. This was our 9th visit to the hotel and we will continue to return. This year we did the Coral island trip, which I'd recommend. Highly recommend staying in this hotel. The location is about a 40 mins drive from the airport, but it's worth the distance - close to Phuket Town, which is worth a visit. In the local area there are a few really good restaurants.

Cape Panwa hotel is wonderful. I had a room overlooking the bay directly next to the Andaman restaurant, so most evenings I could hear the small band playing music from around 7pm - 9pm. Food wonderful, staff delightful, especially Jenny who looked after me at breakfast, I was booked on a bed and breakfast basis but ate in the hotel in the evenings which was very reasonable. Remember they do charge VAT and service charge and not everyone was happy with that. The hotel is near to Cape Panwa village which you can get to by way of the hotel shuttle bus, which runs constantly all day and evening free - its a steep walk otherwise. Food in the village is also quite good and again cheap. My only disappointment was booking the Phi Phi Island excursion through the hotel representative and I paid more than double (about £66 sterling). Book your trips through the little travel shop in the village and you will pay less than half that fee. Mind you was still a great day - so lesson learned. I will definitely be going to Cape Panwa again - AMAZING.

Room Tip: Rooms adjacent to the Lighthouse bar can be prone to noise if there are a few late drinkers

We last visited the Cape Panwa about 14 years ago and our one concern was that our memories may have been clouded by the rose-tinted glasses of time. What had changed was the hotel and for the better. It was wonderful in 2000 but now it is superb. Over much of the hotel, two rooms had been knocked into one. Our room with it's glimpse of the sea filtered through waving palm trees, was huge. A walk-in wardrobe, a shower and bathroom, a large television with DVD player and a whirlpool bath on the generous balcony. A King sized bed.

Previously we had stayed full board. This time we went bed and breakfast only. But then the frequent shuttle truck (yes this isn't a typing error) from the hotel meant we always had a wide choice of restaurants. Experience told us not to worry too much about the look of the restaurant and in this way we tried most of the local one's during our stay. Don't be fooled by the many favourable reviews for the Sawasdee. Lovely restaurant but it was the only one where we had to queue and, whilst it looked good, the food was no better and slightly more expensive than other restaurants in the vicinity. If you want safe go to the Sawasdee. If you want to be adventurous and brave you will be well rewarded. Try some of the food stalls opposite, Delicious and cheap.

The hotel's funicular railway made the trip to the private beach staggeringly easy. If the two minute ride wears you out have a massage next to the lower station before heading for the sea and the cocktails. By the way, lovely location to get married and you can be escorted by a baby elephant to where your life partner is waiting.

We were there for the Thai New Year which meant an early trip to the Temple to give noodles to the monks. We rode in the hotel truck and after the spiritual experience we enjoyed an increasingly wet trip around Phuket Town armed with super-squirters like some strangely gentle invading army.

We tried the Thai cookery class in the hotel. Cooking doesn't get easier than this. I can now turn out a reasonably good green curry. Encouraged by the experience, we used the internet in the hotel to add to our Tesco on-line shop for our return, adding strange items such as Fish sauce to our usual order.

Happy Hour at the Lighthouse bar in the complex was blissful. We saw lizards and once a monkey peering at us through the trees. Dodging the tailors from the shops at the entrance to the hotel became a good game. They were not too pushy and extremely good natured and when there was only two days to go and it was too late to order a suit they left us alone.

We loved the main pool, especially the sunbeds with drapes to shade us from the Sun. The pool by the beach always seemed really quiet. The beach was also fantastic when the tide went out and we could see the exotic sea life amongst the rocks. Also lovely in the morning as the Sun came up.

Why King of the World? Well firstly, we were treated like royalty. Secondly, Leonardo DiCaprio stayed at the Cape Panwa when making "The Beach". But then so did Elizabeth Taylor and Pierce Brosnan when he made 'The World is Not Enough". Well for the two weeks we were there, the Cape Panwa was all the world we needed. Roll on next year, we are going again!

Room Tip: Avoid the pool view rooms, nothing wrong with them, it is just that most of the others are better an...

Very nice hotel , we travelled for 2 weeks through Puket and some islands and frankly this hotel was the best overall.
We booked halfboard, you have plenty of choice for 800 B to eat from a menu and all the restaurants are very different. Also trip to Coral island for a very good price available.
The room was perfect, with seaview. Minibar, perfect bed. Good kitchen, perfect breakfast . Nice fitness room , nice shops and a shuttle service free to Kantary Bay.

Tim, the guest manager offered us a bottle of red wine as we had made a complaint about the fact that we had publicity in the room for special evenings which were not on anymore, thanks Tim. Also the personnel is lovely . Beautiful beach, even thow the pier had to be repaired, which off course made the view less nice (boat for repairings) but we are certainly going to come back !

Room Tip: D307 ! Book a villa with seaview and swimming pool , I think that is even greater ....
