We stayed here for the week between Christmas and New Year in a Junior Suite and highly recommend it for a quiet, relaxing break. This was our second visit to Phuket (more of which later) but our first to the Cape Panwa hotel. Even though the hotel was full (being peak season and all), it rarely felt that way. The rooms are lovely, newly decorated, generously sized, with a fine view over the bay. Food was also very good indeed - amongst the best we've eaten at a tourist hotel. We ate mostly Thai and seafood, but steaks one night, Italian another. If you're on a half or full-board basis as we were, then having a bit of variety is most welcome, so the 3 restaurants at the Cape Panwa Hotel and a couple more at the Kantary Bay provided enough for one week. Staff are awesome - courteous and efficient, and communication was rarely a problem. The hotel's private beach is a real feature of the hotel - attractive and convenient and made a wonderful setting for the New Year's Eve dinner/concert which was really the icing on the cake - a great way to welcome in the year, and finish off our holiday in fine style.
As other reviewers have pointed out, the out-of-the-way location is not always convenient for visiting other attractions on the island. Unfortunately I didn't get round to booking a hire car before arrival, and once there discovered that the few hire companies in the village had all there scooters booked out, otherwise might have liked to have spent a little more time touring the cape. However, this is the compromise you make by not staying somewhere around Pa Tong (which we visited briefly and hated).
Cape Panwa Hotel, along with many of the tour operators on the island that we used this time and on our previous visit, set very high standards of service and offer good value for money compared with other places we've visited or considered visiting. These were key factors in returning to Phuket once again.
