“Excellent rooms and service, ok beach.”
Reviewed November 13, 2012 via mobile

Stayed in a large room with the sea view and really liked it. Customer service is outstanding too. Never tried the food at the hotel restaurant, so cannot comment on it. Pools are large and really nice, which compensates for a very average beach. Main problem with the beach was very shallow water (during all three days of the stay there) - up to chest at the highest, if you stay within the designated beach area. Not sure if it is always like that though. They have a free shuttle to town, but it left about 2 minutes earlier from town one day, so you might have to call the hotel if that happens to you too. There are two nice restaurants within 10-minute walk. Good food, a bit pricey though.

We transferred to the Radisson from the Indigo Pearl and were delighted with the suite we were upgraded to. After being very impressed with the Indigo Pearl we weren't sure what to expect but we were delighted. The location is fabulous. Breakfast was delicious and the pool was almost perfect. (Needs to be about 1/2 metre deeper!) Just a short stroll into the village or a 100 baht taxi ride takes you to a selection of restaurants (Live India being the best) and a few market stalls. Great place for a short stay.

I'm in two minds when writing this review. I want to sing the praises of this piece of Phuket paradise, but I also want to keep it a secret so it retains its quiet, peaceful and wonderful charm.

Having spent many wonderful holidays in Phuket, I no longer need to be close to the action of Patong. If you're wanting to make the most of the tourist trap on the west side of the island, then the Radisson Blu in Panwa is not the place for you. However, if you enjoy relaxation, the real Phuket and mixing with the locals in a relaxed way then Cape Panwa is an excellent location to do this. It's about 45 to 50 minutes to drive to Patong. The Resort offers a transfer (set times) at a reasonable price, and a Taxi will cost you about B700 one way. Not too bad if you're sharing the costs. Phuket town is much closer and while not offering the wild night-life of Patong, offers some very good shopping options with prices cheaper than Patong.

My partner and I spent 14 nights at the Radisson with a couple of good friends from Australia. The resort is wonderful. Clean, spacious rooms set amongst a beautiful garden. The beach on which the resort sits isn't the best in terms of what is available on Phuket, but it has its own charm. It is very tidal and offers beachcombers and explorers lots of fun when the tide is out. With the tide full, swimming is good with a large roped off area generally free of rocks and coral. We were fortunate that the tides were perfect while we were there with high tide arriving midday to early afternoon. I guess you could be disappointed if you were only there for a short time and the tides were low at the peak swimming times. The resort faces out to the channel that is used by ships and boats entering the deep water harbour so there is always something interesting to watch. We were entertained by the arrival of the USS Boxer, an Aircraft Carrier that anchored off shore for a few day, and the comings and goings from ship to port.

The resorts pools are very nice. The Radisson was quite busy while we were there, but we always managed to get a couple of loungers beside the pool or down on the beach. The Fitness Centre is also reasonably well equipped. The Treadmills and CrossTrainers are all good. The is a reasonable range of pin-machines and some free weights. Enough to keep your routine going while your on holiday. You'll probably need a few visits to balance out the feast that is the breakfast buffet. While the air-con was on during our training, some fans would help keep you cool. That's one of the challenges of training in the tropics.

The Resort is surrounded by a number of small shops. A pharmacy, dairy, and a number of restaraunts. Laundry, Massages, Souvenir Shops and Taxis are also all just across the road. We spent a number of great evenings at Tree Tops. Good basic food at a very good price. These guys also looked after our laundry. B100 per kilo if you're wanting it ironed, or B80 a kilo for non-iron. We also treated ourselves to many massages here with prices ranging from B300 for a standard Thai Massage to B400 for a skin soothing (after a day in the sun) Aloe Vera massage.

A short 10 minute walk left out of the resort takes you to Markham Bay and more restaraunts facing on to a wonderful promenade. There is a small fishing village here and a number of other resorts. If you're looking for other dining options and long-tail boats to get you inexpensively out to the local islands for a dive then this is the place to head. The Phuket Aquarium is also situated here with a very cheap B100 entry fee. Worth a look with some interesting displays. The restaraunt Sawasdee is about half-way along the beach front and is a very nice place to eat. Beautiful food, again very cheap. The locals also have a small market operating on the waterfront. Pork/Chicken/Beef satay, T-Shirts, trinkets and other stuff all on sale. Also lots of fresh fruit for sale in a number of road side stalls. It is a really nice place to spend a balmy evening looking across the water to a number of islands and to the south of Phuket.

We're already planning our next escape to Phuket. Cape Panwa and the Radisson Blu will be high on our list of locations to base ourselves. A wonderful location, fantastic people that all added up to a holiday to remember.

Room Tip: We had a sea-view room which was great. I'm not sure what it costs to upgrade but to be fair, we...

This hotel needs a significant update to be called a 5 star hotel. The rooms were a decent size but rather dated. The pool area was covered in mould (not at all as it looks in the pictures) and was not cleaned on a daily basis, meaning there was a lot of leaves, flowers and other dirt floating around the pool. The kids pool, kids club and spa were great but the staff at the poolside "EDGE" bar were either unable to understand English or extremely cocky! The breakfast was of good quality, but just ordering a bottle of sparkling water every morning seemed to require more discussion than a military operation. Most days the water arrived after we had finished eating. By far the most disappointing Radisson Blu I have stayed at. I would have expected more.

As a destination expert for Cape Panwa I had been meaning to stay at this resort for some time and finally made it with my partner. Check in was in comfort smooth and swift in the lobby lounge with a welcome drink and cold towel. We was shown to our room which was lovely and very very spacious and had a huge terrace with sun loungers and panoramic sea views and outside shower. The bathroom was beautiful and huge with a jacuzzi tub and inside power shower. The room had everything you could possibly need and I had no problems with my wifi internet connection while there which was complimentary. My partner wanted to take the bed with him it was so comfortable he did not want to get out of it. Much has been said of the beach yes the tide goes out at certain times of the day but it is still beautiful. I did not see any rubbish on the beach and it was clean as I walked along it. The pool areas are very nicely done and there was plenty of sun loungers no matter what time of the day you was round the pool. The breakfast buffet was to a high standard and plenty of choice with helpful staff. I did not dine in any of the restaurants but had room service which was very good the food arrived hot and it was superb we had a range of dishes and chilled out in our room. All the public areas of the hotel are beautiful . I had no problems with language difficulties and always find that if you make an effort to speak to the staff it is always returned. I found everything to be of a high standard and service was always friendly. Across the road there is an Atm machine ,mini mart, tour shop, taxi's, massage and a couple of restaurants if you dont want to walk into Panwa village 10 minutes away. I also recommend a trip into Phuket town for other restaurants Natural Restaurant and Suay which are superb. Other local resturants nearby Ship Inn and Beach Bar Ao Yon. Sawasdee, Sea Breeze, Live India in Cape Panwa and Sunset Bar for a very warm welcome. Thank you Radisson my only regret is that I did not stay sooner.

Room Tip: High floor sea view

This hotel needs to improve in so many areas before it comes close to being a 5 star hotel ! More like a 3 - 4 star as a seasoned traveler - most disappointing on arrival from greetings, efficiency of staff, to actual rooms which are done in very bad taste in a 70's style. Beds come away from the wall when you sit up. There are no fans - just AC. No view from balcony - except into the back of another building, infact all the back areas of the hotel are not discreet in any way and pipes, AC units, cleaning areas and utility areas are in full view all over. To get from A to B - such as our room to the pool - the pool area to the kids area - it requires great skill - nothing makes sense and it is a maze of back areas with no logical direction. There appears to be no logical design attributed to this hotel. In fact the entire hotel one wonders why they built it. The location is dreadful. It faces a bay that empties of water and has a back drop of rusted ships out to see, a dodgy looking fishing harbor and a beach that is full of rubbish, which brings us to the management of this hotel and its staff ! Just appalling - when i suggested that the man who appeared to be cleaning the beach concentrate his efforts on the actual plastic bottles, and general plastic rubbish rather than just a one meter stretch of leaf debris the overseers of the actual man who swept the brush, changed the subject or appeared to not understand, as is the case with all the staff, who hardly say hello and were so different from any other staff we have encountered. As we were traveling with 3 small children - in previous places we got a lot of attention and many sincere hello's - but here they barely look at you, and appear to not understand anything.
The front desk people could not even read a map of Phuket and when we asked where to buy basic provisions they suggested 30 minutes away - when on further investigation we discovered there is a 24 hour shop opposite the hotel !
The food is almost inedible, the worst overcooked spring rolls we have had and fried rice that was inedible. Breakfast is a buffet and OK - but bad coffee which always tells.
We did not try the smarter restaurant - preferring to via left out the gate and head to a great local place down by the pier and promenade.
Internet connection is so slow its barley usable. To call it fast WiFi is a lie - like so much of what is advertised at this hotel. Who gives these hotels stars anyway ?
One would imagine that the actual Radison people would sort out these bad problems...as its does not come close to other 'Blu' places that i have stayed, such as the recently opened one in Dublin which is most different.
The only thing going for this hotel are the terraced pools that lead to the grubby beach - which is impossible to swim in - even if you were to risk it !
But again the staff are grumpy and appear to not understand anything.

Room Tip: get a pool access room - or a room with a view !

My husband and I choose this resort to do our vows renewal ceremony, and I must say we couldn't have asked for a better place than this. The entire staff at this resort are pleasant and helpful, we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest each day we were there (5 days). The sales team that planned our ceremony went above and beyond to ensure that our perfect day was just that. Aey and her team were EXCELLENT, they took care of every single detail and if I can say, this was a destination wedding in which we (the couple) had nothing to worry about as everything was taken care of. From the Spa treatments to getting the photographer (Mr. Yo who is fabulous) and the make-up artist (Tom frm Top make up artist, amazing!). This was truly an amazing out of this world resort with the most efficient and friendly staff. Aey, Wasan, Tommy and the rest of the staff you made our vacation so much more special and we are definitely coming back to your hospitality. Another tip to add is, while u are staying at the Radisson don't forget to check out this great Thai Restaurant called Sawasdee, have to have to try their food, and its only a 15min walk from the hotel.
Can't wait to come back to Phuket, we loved it!!

Room Tip: We stayed at the Radisson Suite which is beautiful 7203 and if you are looking for pampering yoursel...
