We spent a week here after spending some time trekking in the northern provinces. A perfect way to relax and enjoy the Thai hospitality.

We arranged transfers form the Airport to the resorts through the concierge, After a delayed flight from Chiang Mai, we were greeted by a smiling driver in a new BMW, transported to the Marina where our private boat was waiting with cool eucalyptus scented hand towels, very refreshing in the humidity.
We were then taken to the Island and once again greeted by more smiling hosts that drove us to our villa where check-in was completed in the room.

The rooms were very spacious and private, every villa had a private courtyard featuring a plunge pool, sunbeds on one side and a shaded day bed on the other.

The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom was a very unique design that combined the inside and outside spaces well whilst maintaining privacy. We loved the outside rainforest shower and bath bungalow.

Each villa was provided with bicycles to venture around the resort. There are complimentary non motorized water sports, or you could lay around the main pool and sip a few cocktails or fresh juice.

The staff were exceptional; when we took the hobbie cat out my sunglasses went overboard, and I said this in passing to a staff member who looked after the water sports, and when he finished work in the afternoon he went snorkeling in an attempt to find them. Nothing was ever too much, everything was seamless.

I would highly recommend this resort for couples in need of a retreat or looking for a place to spend their honeymoon.

Pluses:
- Beautiful location completely separated from the hussle-bustle of Phuket
- Large rooms with amazing views
- Fantastic pool and facilities (gym/spa)
- Friendly staff

Drawbacks:
- Limited choices on restaurants / food
- Food was good but stick with the main menu and avoid the buffets

The Naka Island Resort was just what we needed after a hectic couple of weeks. The service was excellent and the property is well laid out. Our room was excellent inside and out, though the view from the plunge pool could have been better thought through.

Knowing that the resort was oriniginally developed as a health retreat, we were expecting a quiet experience and we got just that. Naka is the ideal place to stay for a short time to regain your health, detox, whatever your preference, though there isn't an abundance of activites on offer.

For us, it was a perfect stay at the right time, though people should be careful to choose it for the right reasons: relaxation, quiet, alone time.

Service was generally good, though the diversity of food and drinks is more limited than one would expect from a 5 star location. The manager and executive chef came out regularly to check standards and the staff were attentive without being too over bearing.

There was a very well equipped gym, spa and pool area, but maybe an overhaul of the site might benefit a wider population?

Overall a good trip for a 2-4 day period of full relaxation.

picked up by BMW7 the same moment we realized how small trunk this BMW has and our luggage doesn't fit in it, so if you have more than 2 travel bags get another car, hotel staff is not aware of it and count only number of people they should count luggage also, anyway the guy in the airport quickly arranged another car just for the bag that didn't fit inside BMW:) the rest was very smooth...
I loved the hotel check in procedure, when everything is done in your room and u don't sit and wait in the lobby - this really makes u feel like a valuable guest, so well done here!

Overall I have a very good impression of the hotel in general.

I put sleep as average - as we book the room with the king bed but the bed only looks like a king bed, while actually it's 2 beds with two separate mattresses - if you put two small beds together this doesn't make it a king bed, and mattresses are too soft cause have a lot of cushion on top to hide the fact that it's actually 2 beds! I'm not sure if all villas are the same but this is the only one I stayed and from my point of view they all same, so be aware of it.

The rest was quite nice, the food is great there, and staff is very helpful and friendly and not annoying.

Room Tip: make sure u raise a concern regarding the bed type

I chose to stay at this resort after seeing it on a luxury resort web site. On the website its pool villas looked nice, the beach looked beautiful, and it was on a private island only a 5 minute boat ride from Phuket. It seemed perfect for a relaxing holiday.
My husband and I stayed for 5 nights.
We had originally booked for 7 nights.
The villas were nice and private but completely uncomfortable!
We first stayed in a seaview poolvilla with an outdoor bathroom , dressing area , and toilet.
It seems very exotic when you arrive.
However it is terrible to use.
We were completely INVADED by mosquitos!!!
We would literally run into the shower or rush to brush our teeth!! Not to mention having to use the toilet in the middle of the night.
Since the dressing room is in an outside courtyard we had to "shoo" off mosquitos before we got dressed!!
Eventually this got on our nerves and we complained.
We were then moved to another villa with "a screen enclosed" bathroom.
This helped a bit but there were still many mosquitos( there were many small gaps and holes between the frames).
Our private outdoor sala and pool looked beautiful but once again totally invaded by mosquitos. We tried to use it 2 afternoons but we had to submerge ourselves up to our chins in the water not to get bitten..not fun and certainly not relaxing.
We were disappointed by the food and service at both restaurants.
We have traveled throughout Asia and have stayed at many luxury properties..Banyan Tree, Amanresorts, Mandarin Orientals, etc.
We were expecting the same quality of service but unfortunately didn't find it at The Naka Island.
That and the mosquitos made us leave early.

Dear tbnycfly,

Thank you for your review and we are saddened that you were disappointed with your stay. We fog our villas and public areas on a daily basis, we are also working on enclosing all of our bathrooms which should be complete in a few weeks. We wish you all the best.

It's a very beautiful resort located on Naka Island. If you are coming from Phuket town, it's about 25 minutes drive to Ao Po. Then you will get on a speed boat and arrive on this beautiful island within 5 minutes.

We stayed at the villa with garden view and still think that it's very beautiful. We didn't have problems with mosquitoes and other insects like the others have mentioned in previous reviews.

However, the service is definitely not a 5 star. It's more like a 4 star service and sort of slow when you ask for things especially in Tonsai restaurant. By the way there are 2 restaurants in this resort. One is Tonsai restaurant and the other is My Grill. They are located right next to each other. We tried both restaurants and found that the service in My Grill is far better than Tonsai. I remember my Irish friend asked for extra soy sauce from Miss Bee at Tonsai and she disappeared off and didn't even bother to return to tell us as we were waiting. We then asked other staff and he finally came back with sweet soy sauce we wanted. Miss Bee then again showed up and acted like nothing's wrong. It's not a kind of service we expected from a luxury resort.

The resort itself is really beautiful and the infinity pool is also amazing. (see my photos) We enjoyed our private swimming pool very much and we think the food at My Grill (Wagyu beef) was delicious! Highly recommend if you are traveling as a couple.

Room Tip: We stayed on Villa #14 and loved it.
