Travelled to KI with another family, 4 adults and 4 children in total. Great location, great facilities and great service. We took an early Ferry so arrived at KI before 11. We drove to the House (less then 30 minutes from Penneshaw where the ferry is) to see if we were lucky enough for it to be ready, it wasn’t. It was still in the process of being cleaned. Check in time was 3pm, but they were nice enough for us to put all our food in the fridge, unpack our food and store our eskies. This was great otherwise we would have been travelling around with bread, food and eskies in our cars. When we returned at 3pm, it was all ready for us.
Another gem. Practically furnished, with books, games, DVDs and a toy box. Little touches which add so much to a holiday. The kids played with the toys, puzzles and watched a dvd during the evening when we were at the house. And the beach 200m (if that) down the road was absolutely stunning. Crystal clear water, white sand with no litter. It was the best beach I have ever been too. We couldn’t get over how lucky we were to be so close to a fabulous beach. We went back every spare moment we had and every evening was spent there. The weather was perfect so the water was pleasant to go in (not cold) and sometimes we were the only families there! And if we weren’t alone, there were only another 1 or 2 couples, families floating about. We were there when ETSA cut off power (no biggy, as you travel and explore KI while there) so it wasn’t a big deal for us and no fault of the owners. But what impressed us, as there was no electricity there was no running water so the owner bought us over a large water container of rain water, which we filled up our drink bottles with before heading out. Personalised caring service! The house itself had 4 bedrooms. 2 with queen beds, one with an ensuite and 2 other rooms. One room had 2 x single beds and the other had 2 x bunkbeds, and one of the bunks was a double down the bottom. There were also chickens wondering around to the amusement of the children and one evening we were lucking to have a wallaby jumping around the yard. It was friendly enough it came all the way up to the decking. Not friendly enough to touch or get close to but enough for some good photos and again to excite and entertain the kids. Off each queen room was a deck with furniture. The deck ran along the back of the house and the two furnished areas outside both rooms where comfortable to sit, eat, relax and talk. There was a fridge outside which we made our beer fridge and a BBQ which was used both evening to BBQ and morning for Bacon and eggs. Large 8 seater table inside suited the 8 people staying! The photos on the internet make it look more secluded then it is. Has houses each side of it and across the road. But the area around the house is full of trees, shrubs and foliage and definitely isn’t in suburbia (not that I think there really is a suburbia in KI, its all has a pretty laid back country feel.) There isn’t much view of the ocean, most is obscured by trees and other holiday houses but the snippet of a view is very nice. I would recommend this house if you are travelling with 2 x families as it has space to move and room to accommodate children. Price was $500 a night, between 2 families and the beach, space and location we were happy with the price!
