“The best hotel right at the Grand Anse Beach!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Pros:

- right on the Grand Anse Beach, very well-maintained property with flowers, mango-trees, hammocks, 2 pools, a gym and amazing bar/chill area.
- 2L kettle, keyless locker and a large, flat-screen TV might be a considerable bonus for some.
- If you can - get beachfront view on the left side from the lobby(we heard rooms/buildings vary in age).
- Hotel is also very close to the Spice market (where we had no luck on exclusive craft variety) and a large Shopping Centre with a supermarket just across the road( where you might get your spices and nutmeg syrup, which is a must-have item at a cheaper price).
- Hotel also has a large parking lot - so if you rent a car - it's a bonus; otherwise - you need to get a reggae bus(mini-van) to town for 2.50EC(1US) right on the road.(make sure to clarify the fare before jumping into the bus, the majority of drivers are good people, but like in any country - there are some that will try to rip you off, especially seeing you with a bunch of suitcases. Taxi is expensive, but a must-have if going to-from airport = 16US fixed rate based on December 2012).
- Hotel is also very-well patrolled with security guards on car-entrance from the main road and from the beach/swimming-entrance – so you will feel safe leaving your stuff during swimming even after sunset.(remember: all beaches in Grenada are public and do not belong to the hotels - locals are very independent & friendly people, but as everywhere on a beach - keep an eye on your belongings).
- Hotel restaurant is very decent in prices and the food is good.

Cons.
- there is no fridge in the room by default, even though there is a built-in drawer for it. You can get one for $10US per day if you’re lucky - they don't have many available. Solution -
there is a champagne bucket in the room - feel it with ice from the machine in the corridor - to keep your fruits/drinks fresh and cool.
- king size bed size is not real - they are double or "mini-queen"(and this is not by on North-American standards, but is based on experience with other hotels in Grenada and Carriacou.).
- lighting in the rooms are economy-cool-kelvin temperature bulbs - not for a vacation/relaxation.

Overall - The best hotel with the best quick access to the beach, beautiful property and chill-out atmosphere. Great for a family vacation!

First time to Grenada and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Grenada Grand is ideally located on Grande Anse beach with its white sands and clear , calm sparking waters- just heavenly. The hotel was under some refurbishment, so we were upgraded to Executive beachfront rooms which were quite comfortable. We also arrived early in the morning and were pleasantly surprised to find our rooms ready well before the standard 3pm check-in time. There were hammocks on the porch which overlooked the beach-sooo relaxing. The resort also has two pools- including a lovely resort-type pool complete with waterfalls, a couple bridges and whirlpools- the whirlpools however could do with some refurbishing. Staff were also very pleasant. The one drawback was that food and drinks are quite pricey. We purchased a coke the first day for EC$11.00 . Fortunately there is a small shopping centre across the street complete with supermarket ( where you can obtain far cheaper stocks of water, sodas and snacks), pharmacy and a pizza/ice cream shop.Whilst on the beach we met a local guy-Kevon who fixed us with reasonably priced drinks from the bars a little way down the beach. All in all a truly relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: Can't beat a beachfront room.

we stayed here for the first time and enjoyed the time...room was clean and view was beautiful. Some areas of the resort are undergoing an update. The beach and location is prime. Restaurant is OK, bar service slow, and felt the overall appearance of the resort was a little dated. Air in room was great but pillows were of poor quality. Was happy that they had some plugs that were already converted for 220...so plugging phones and curling iron went without a hitch. We rented a car and had no problem parking or driving. Area is OK for walking and beach is amazing. Two pools with water falls and bar service was great but everything took a while...I think the hotel could focus on getting drinks and food to guests a little quicker...Even have someone walking pool area for needs would be great. Very glad we checked out that evening as there was a VERY LONG line when we left on Monday a.m. Front desk seemed to be short staffed many days. No complimentary drinks for us....I would not hesitate to rebook this resort as it is in prime location and felt the area was safe and convenient.

Room Tip: We stayed on a higher floor overlooking beach in an executive suite. Other rooms were being updated...

I stayed here for two days on business at the beginning of September.
Built in 1986, it has gone through various owners/changes. It is situated on the beach in a perfect location.
The rooms are comfortable with either beach or garden views. Some of them were being refurbished when I was there.
Service is very slow in the restaurant, but that is only to be expected in the Caribbean.
The pools and gardens are very good for relaxing and swimming, if you do not want to swim in the sea. (30 second walk)
The gardens are extensive and cover a large area, and are extremely well kept.
There are probably newer and more classy hotels on Grenada, but I would stay at the Grand Anse for a week on holiday, no problem.
Breakfast was very good, with a large selection, buffet style.
The jewel in its crown is the location. Perfect for watching the sunset.
Lancashireman.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are more expensive.

Great hotel. Overlooking great sunsets and sunrises on the beach. Lying on the beach good vendors brought by hand crafted products at a great rate.
Great place. We plan on going again for anniversary.

I stay at this hotel every year. Probably 25 times so far over the last few decades and I've seen it change through several companies (Holiday Inn in the 70's, Ramada, Renaissance, and others. Rumors are they are changing again- one can only hope!). Location is great and the beach is very good. Pools are very good. Front desk staff nod and agree but I believe can't do a thing about any complaint. In busy season will run out of pool towels. Lost power once and called front desk at 3AM that we had no A/C or fan. They said they'd send someone. An hour later I called again and was told Yes, they'd send someone after they arrive, about 9AM. (I broke into a utility room, found circuit breakers & repaired it myself as they couldn't move us to another room). Restaurant lacking- breakfast very European and little of interest for an American other than eggs, though they'll make an omelet, but really, every day the same thing? Whats wrong with pancakes, a waffle, french toast, whatever? Dinners OK, but can get better elsewhere (Beach House is my favorite, Aquarium a close second). Can walk across street to a small mall.

Room Tip: Ask for the newer building up close to the beach- only about 15 years old.

Last April, I travelled with a friend to Grenada and stayed at the Grenada Grand Beach Resort, a gorgeous, expansive property set on, arguably, the most beautiful stretch of white sand beach on Grand Anse Beach. Our beach front room was literally on the beach and the balcony provided a perfect location to watch the sand and surf activities. In addition to a variety of pools, whirlpools, waterfalls, and beautifully maintained gardens (loved the bougainvillea), the property offers many dining options and several bars - we always found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. Special mention goes to the resort's manager, Richard, who went above and beyond to ensure a most positive vacation experience. We will definitely return!!
