First the good things. Luxurious hotel with very nicely decorated villas, lush gardens, romantic atmosphere, good breakfast, friendly stuff with a smile on their faces, has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Very good SPA. Free snorkling and kayaking equipment. Free shuttle to Chaweng couple of times a day, though we never used it, as we've rented a bike, which we strongly advise to do being on Koh Samui. In general probably the best value for money on Koh Samui.
Most positive experience was entering a room and finding everything covered with rose petals, including bathtub full of them, towel swans on the bed and 10th wedding anniversary cake in the evening.
Now the bad things, which can be a big issue for some, but minor for others. 1st, rooms are not cleaned ever, only make up, bathroom glass doors and bathtub were disgusting, probably never saw any cleaning. Even when I called the reception and complained, they just filled the bathtub with petals and obviously thought that's it. As a result never used a bathtub. 2nd, stuff hardly speaks any english, forget about asking them anything out of minimum vocabulary. They just smile and say yes, but no actual answer to the question. These two points were especially upsetting taking in consideration the general luxury appearance of hotel.
I believe due to this lack of english, nobody replied to my emails I sent before the trip, asking for airport pick-up and for a romantic beach dinner. We had 10th wedding anniversary on the day of arrival and nothing was arranged for us, and as a result no pick-up and no availability for dinner. So we started of the wrong foot right from the start and I believe it poisoned my general oppinion of the hotel.
Moreover, we made it clear, that we were looking for romance and privacy and they placed us next door with a family of two small crying kids. Definitely not the fault of that family, they were on vocation as well, but stuff has to do better placing customers, knowing that walls are paper thin. In the end they did changed us to another room, but still it seemed like neighbours were walking in our room. We had to be careful ourselves and be quiet as well, so that other people didn't hear us. That's not my idea of a romantic and private honeymoon vocation.
Drinks, food at the hotel are very expensive, not worth it. There are so much options around the island, so we stayed by the pool only twice and never ate dinner at the hotel. Chaweng and Fishermen's Village offer good choice of restaurants and bars. We liked beach restaurants in Chaweng Noi - between Chaweng and Lamai, it's not fine dinning as in Chaweng hotels but very relaxing and romantic, we couldn't ask for more. For a drink, party, show and people watching - Chaweng is best. Bo Phut (Fishermen's village) is also a relaxed dinning experience without too much people and too much shops-shops-shops selling the same.
As for the hotel locations, it is 0.5km from the main road and several km even from Bo Phut. Too far to get anywhere by foot, not a good choice unless you plan to rent a bike or car. We rented a bike, so hotel location didn't bother us at all.

We stayed here for three nights and liked it very much. The villas are very nice and the whole hotel garden is beatiful. The restaurant is directly at the calm Mae nam beach. However, the hotel is at the very far end of the beach and very much offsite all (cheaper) restaurants. The beach there is also small and a little rocky. Wireless Internet is only available in the lobby and in the restaurant but free though.

We got married here in March 2010 with 20 guests & had the wedding of our dreams. The staff went way beyond the call of duty with amazing attention to detail, service & food, we could not have imagined any better. We did a huge amount of research into weddings on the island ahead of making a decision on wedding venue, spending 3 weeks there weighing up the various island wedding options, including the major wedding planning company "Faraway Weddings". I can honestly say Fairhouse offered better quality & value for money than any other hotel or wedding planning service, ultimately it's the personal service that makes the difference on your big day, nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed in the pool villa on our wedding night which was amazing and came back again & stayed in a deluxe balcony room which was a beautiful room with a great view from the balcony.
Some practicalities to consider - car hire or moped is best for total flexibility, otherwise you are dependant on taxis to get around, although there is a shuttle to chaweng for shopping & nightlife. The island is very beautiful but you need a car to get to the best remote beaches & up the mountain. It is a quiet hotel and there is very little within walking distance.
The restaurant is fabulous, so are the cocktails.
They take huge pride in their gardens with a very green approach to running the hotel, they take the environment very seriously which is unusual on the Island.
I can't say enough great things about this hotel, we litterally cannot wait to go back & would not consider staying anywhere else on the island.

It was a nice place, a bit far away from shopping and restaurants, but hotel had a shuttle bus for transportation to and from Chaweng. A good place for relaxing and for the couples. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have buggies for transferring people between reception, rooms and restaurant. They also offer fitness facilities, spa, restaurant, room service and pool bar. If you are happy with the quality, you don't need to leave a hotel at once during your stay. We had a sunset suite booked for us which offered a beautiful view and sunset to the sea. Jacuzzi in our room was nice place to relax after a busy day. During our stay there were not so many other customers in rooms with jacuzzi so we were able enjoy from extra quite time there.Hotel was a bit far from the main street, so if you want to have a dinner somewhere else than in your own hotel, needs an effort or a taxi. In restaurant they had a lot of flies in the breakfast and mosquitos in the evening which is a bit annoying. Prices are a bit higher compared to services and food outside of hotel. For example same trips can be booked in local travel agencys with cheaper price. The beach in front of the hotel is not good, and you have to walk further in order to swim.

We decided to go to Thailand this year, wich was a first for us (my boyfriend and me). After a lot of reading online, and talking to friends that have been to Thailand we found out that Samui should be safe in August - early September (regarding the weather). As we have never visited that part of the world, we decided to stay all 14 days the same place so that we had our base there (with the option to go on some excursions).

Our first impression of Koh Samui was not exacly the paradise we had read all about and seen pictures from. The tourism has influenced the island in a very negative way. Also there was said to be great shopping opportunities - wich I guess there is if you like replicas and souverniers. Our first visit to Chaweng was horrible! Horrible smells and all the shops sell the same things.
A couple of days after arriving to Samui we had adjusted our expectations a bit and we went to Chaweng again and ended up having a great day.

So back to the resort-review:
We stayed all 14 days in a Villa (nr: 233) wich was really nice. All the (positive) things that others have said is true. And the staff is incredibly friendly. All you see is smiles. The service level in Thailand is something europeans can learn from. Twice in 14 days there was fresh fruit in our room.
The morning buffet was great with everything you could desire. We only ate in the restaurant once. The food was ok but we ate better (and cheper) elsewhere, and we liked to get out to see something else.
The pool area was quiet and relaxing. Good drinks too - especially Emerald (non-alcoholic).

Regarding the wildlife - we saw one small snake during our stay (late one night) - and we told one of the staff-members driving past in a golf cart and he said he would have security check it out ;-). One night there was a gecko in our room and we did not know how to catch it so we rang the reception and a staff member came at once to get it out, and he told us if it were to happen again we should just call them again - no problem!

All in all I would definately go back to Fair House - but I would not choose 14 days on Samui another time. Our first trip to Thailand was all in all a success - the highlighs being; the food, the people and Fair house.

The hotel location was good with an ok beach. We only walked to the main road twice - once in complete darkness - wich went ok - but was a bit uncomfortable. As written in previously reviews there is a minimum-fee at 400 baht for the hotels taxi-service but the shuttle-bus to Chaweng 3 times a day is exellent.

spending 1 night in koh samu before heading to koh tao, I was searching for a last minute booking of a nice hotel. I got a really good prize for this one and arriving at the resort I was overwhelmed by it's beauty. The staff was extremly friendly and even gave us an upgrate of the bungalow!( despite the fact that we already had a big discount on the actual room prize)

the bungalows and villas are just perfect. Very spacious and clean. The pool right next to the beach is very nice too. The hotel is surrouned by a tropical garden with many many beautiful flowers and trees.

there were not many guests in this hotel and we often had the swimming pool for ourselves. Breakfast was good too. the restaurant is however a bit overprized.

The hotel is perfect for relaxation, but if you are searching for nightlife and big shopping, you are not at the right place.
It's perfect for spending some chillout time after a stressfull sightseeing trip.
it is definitely worth your money!

Me and my husband stayed with Fair House last weekend to attend our friend's wedding at another hotel in Samui. We were attracted by its location which was suppose to be right next to the wedding location (turned out it was 20 minutes walk) and the low rate.

OK. If you were to stay here, do not expect a international brand kind of 4 star services. It's run and own by local Thai people so the standard is different. Not that it's bad but there was a few small things that bug us like: house keeping people don't speak very fluent English, we couldn't get hot water for a few days, there's no hair conditioner provider, the hot tub on the balcony looks really old and dirty so we didn't dare to use it.

Nevertheless, if you are on budget like us, this is a good value place to stay at. Breakfast wasn't wow but we tried the dinner there and it's good Thai food. BTW, they only have one restaurant in the whole hotel.

We tried the spa once. For girls who wants to do nails, you'll be disappointed. They don't have salon and nails services. We had our massage and the massage room was nice enough but strangely, they don't play any usual smoothing music during the session so we could hear all the noise from outside (like golf buggy passing by).

Oh, just remember there's no wireless in the room (only in the restaurant and lobby) and they don't help guests to call for caps (so we ended up have to suck up the high charges hotel car to go around the hood).

The bed was really hard, too. We had a double bed and it's two single mattress put together. And we had a hard time getting some sleep as the mattress as well as the pillow is harder than normal standard.

All in all - not a bad hotel. Just don't expect too much. They do have a nice view if you are getting a sea-view room though. I wouldn't bother staying with them at a non-ocean view room.
