“Thai elegance - peaceful relaxation!”

Beautiful grounds, villas and food. Service very friendly but unobtrusive. We just loved this place - party of 9 of us ranging in age from 15 - 65, every one of us sad to leave. We had 2 villas both of which were stunning, well-equipped, very clean, comfortable and beautiful gardens, pools and inside and outside dining areas.

We decided to split our 8-day visit to Koh Samui between Napasai and Tongsai Bay (reviewed seperately).
Napasai stretches from its reception area at the top, down many steps and pathways, to the long beach of very coarse sand. There is a beautiful infinity pool for easier swimming. The charming villas are disposed at various levels and you need to judge how to choose yours (apart from price considerations). Higher villas have better views and less climbing to breakfast and reception. More important, if you get irritated by constant thumping from piped music, (not loud, but never-ending beats) avoid villas near the central area. Ours (203) was right at the beach (but too near the music), very large, with much wasted space, not well lt, but smart and comfortable. The bed was firm, but we slept well. There were 2 bathrooms plus an outside shower, but nowhere to hang towels. Housekeeping didn't get to us until after mid-day.
Our package included a set Thai meal, which is pretty poor and best avoided. It was a different menu from the regular Thai menu. There is a themed buffet, changing every day, which you take at individual tables spread along the beach front. This was fun and good but not gastronomic. Wines are expensive, but the Thai wines were a pleasant surprise at more realistic prices.
Walking outside the resort is straight on to an unpleasant main road, with no footpath and no easily reachable destination. But taxis are cheap (300 baht to Fishermans Village) and plentiful.
Service at Napasai is very friendly, with staff smartly attired and a little formal, as befits the image of Orient Express.
We enjoyed our 4-day stay.

We have just spent 8 days at the Napasai, and the only mistake was not staying longer!
From the moment we arrived till when we left, it was very special.
Yolanda the manager greeted us on arrival and was there when we left, the rooms are blissfully quiet, only the gentle sound of the waves sent us off to sleep. The breakfast are wonderful, infact too good for us to really need lunch. The three restaurants serve wonderful Thai, buffet and French food. The staff are exceptional - so polite and nothing is too much trouble.
We plan to go back as we made so many friends in this lovely hotel.
Only one complaint make the steps to the beach level please?

I was disappointed by Napasai after reading such great reviews. I booked through American Express so was upgraded from a hillside villa to a sea view villa upon arrival. The view of the ocean was nice and the patio was perfect for sitting outside and reading/having a meal. The room was spacious enough but the bed was uncomfortable. I found both and service and food to be particularly underwhelming give their supposed four stars. I felt I was constantly having to flag someone down (waving hands and all) if I needed something and saw others doing the same. A number of times I didn't get what I asked for and the guys had to go back and get whatever it was - not sure if this was a product of a lack of training or lack of understanding of English. Service at the restaurants on the property the nights I ate there was exactly the opposite - someone rushing over every time I put down my fork - way too intrusive. The food was really not good. Understand breakfast was catering the mostly European crowd but I've seen much better at other places even with that caveat. The pool side and beach side restaurants seemed to be going for fine dining (white tablecloths, "french" menu") even during the day which I found strange. For lunch the days I ate I had a chicken burger, a hamburger and a pizza all of which were mediocre at best. Spring rolls and tempura were slightly better but still not great. Dinner at the Thai restaurant was good but definitely felt slighted on the amount of protein they put in the dishes (3 shrimp in a whole pad thai?) especially when I paid a lot less for a lot more when I ate out on the economy. I did have a fantastic mani/pedi at the spa but can't say as much about the massage I got. Overall wouldn't recommend it.

Loved Napasai. beautiful rooms, pool, beach and service etc. Food was very nice. The beAchfront villas are beautiful!
Would recommend to those who don't like to do much. There is not much to do apart from swimming and cocktails. Recommend the Mae Nam Walking markets on Thursdays but that is it. would suggest breaking your trip up between Napasai and somewhere in Bophut.

Our stay at the Napasai was everything we could have hoped for - and beyond. From the moment we drive past the water buffalo and the pith-helmet clad grounds keepers to our welcome beverage in the beautiful open air reception area to our villa, the whole stay was delightful.

The Seaside villa was perched on a hillside - so when we pulled up our shades, we woke to the view of palm trees and the ocean. Our breakfast buffet every morning was delicious - a mix of asian dim sum, european breakfast and fresh fresh fruit. The 13 types of jam alone were dizzying.

The staff were a dream. They were so helpful and unobtrusive. I came to this hotel to relax with a friend. I have to say it was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had. There was a nice mix of couple and families. Not enough kids to be bothersome and not too many couple to feel like I crashed a honeymoon.
