beautiful location especially the beach villas which are truely located right at the beach, some with whirlpool and cabana, attentive staff and excellent service plus friendly director Willy Optekamp who made our stay a pleasant one

Room Tip: try the beach villas

Cons: only one. Rooms are bit old and renovation would be required to make this very good place a formidable one.
Pros: many:
- very beautiful area. everything is in green garden. you feel like in paradise indeed.
- beach is private and very nice and cleaned on regular basis. Lot of palm trees and shadows on the beach.
- very friendly staff helpful with kids and anything you need. staff is VERY WELL trained.
- all food in hotel is very tasty. so far best food of all hotels in South East Asia we tried before (Phuket, Krabi, Bali, Phi Phi, Kota Kinabalu).
- good gym.

Just lovely resort. Great staff, food and facilities. Rooms are (nearly) all huge detached bungalows in their own grounds - an beautifully appointed. Free afternoon tea is a nice touch.

Fishermans Village is nice as well

Golf course is really nice, but very hot to play. I'm a rsaonable golfer and would have prefrred to play off white (?) tees not blue - or the other wat round - the longer ones anyway.

we booked this after a week @ Le Meridian - don't go there.

Santiburi is the place to go.

Room Tip: They all looked good from what we saw.

We have stayed here for 6 days with grandma grandpa, and my family with 2 very young children. We stayed in the presidential suite and it is 2 villas +a dining room with a small pool in a private little garden.
The hotel is so caring and prepared cot and bottle steamer etc even I have not requested. And they really tried their best to accommodate our needs from helping to entertain our children while we are eating, to taking our 4 yr old for a ride on the golf cart around the resort.
It is very quiet and relaxing all through the day. Beach is clean and they even provide a lot of toys for our toddler to play in the sand.
We had a private BBQ Setup really nicely on the beach and it was just wonderful.
We haven't tried many restaurant and mainly got room service and went to the one by the beach. Food is nice.
There are a lot of thing which I can see that their management team has done a great job. Lovely and caring staff, beautiful garden, clean everywhere. Can't ask for anymore than this for a relaxing holiday!

Santiburi was written in our tour providers catalogue with 5 star and "Leading hotels of the world". We arrived with high motivation. We had a Garden Villa with Plunge pool. The villa was big, nice and good interior. What we have seen that the normal Garden or Orchid Villa were near the river and they had often a strange smell. What gives us a bad impression was the situation near beach. The hotel gives more relax places that hotel guests. But near the beach you have to talk with the beach boy which place is free. Most of the people working with the beach boy together and let reserve. Also if they just 2 hours on beach. I am not sure if the beach staff has bad salary. But it was bad to look into it. We invest money for 5 star hotel and thought this is not an issue, because for a 3 star hotel in Spain i can imagine, but not for such hotel. Other people already early blocking relax places near beach with bags or books. Not pleasant. Wild dogs running around the beach and often Tahi people coming to sale you products. The beach is better than Bo Phut, but also not a dream. The sand is rough and dark, the water is not so clear. One time i touched stones at the ground and could 2 days no swim. One strange thinig is also the organization from hotel guests. We had halfboard and the hotel reserved for us all time the beach restaurant, also when we said we not want it or we check when we come where we can sit quite. But each time they reserved us a place in the most popular beach line where guests already reserving for all week. Also in holiday must be all organized --> not nice! Also in that point if people not alone reserve and it comes from the hotel, then the place will be hold free still if the hotel don't know if the guest is coming or if he is going to another restaurant. If another couple is coming and they like the place the restaurant send the people away and the real guests are also not coming because they go in another place. The cocktails were not interesting. One Pina Colada had so much ice that you only feel the water. We had ti change it. We had halfboard and the Rim Talay restaurant near beach brings you one day ala carte and the other day thai buffet. It's not so good, buffet is better that you can from each a bit and try a lot. With the ala carte you are more fixed to find one good meal. Additional some products in the card are not included and we just heard it before reservation. The staff is cold and not give information before. Also the airport transfer is to expensive. I asked about taxi, but then i heard that taxi at Koh Samui not working with taxi meter. The costs are high than in Bangkok. Also the taxis are smaller. We had 4 luggages and unfortunately we had to take the overprized hotel transfer. The area around the hotel is not so nice. I thought with such mass tourism there will be invested more into the peoples standard, but walk through the streets is not pleasant. All looks old, in bad condition and often a bad smell. The hotel is mostly from German and Swiss people visited. I am also German but it's not so nice to have the typical public around. Mostly families and pensioners.

Room Tip: take a garden villa with plunge pool, maybe there you can be sure that you not have a position near...

We spent in this resort ten days at the end of April 2012 and it was great and relaxing time. The whole resort is one big lush tropical garden with private villas which offer you enough privacy. We stayed in Orchid Garden Villa (60 QM) located in the middle of the garden. All villas are created in an authentic Thai-style with Teak-wood - we loved it.

Every day on the way for breakfast, or way to the beach we found some new species of trees, flowers except many coconut trees (Koh Samui is also called as an island of coconut trees). This is really an authentic resort with gorgeous private beach which is exceptional because in Thailand are most of the beaches public. This beach has good conditions for swimmers all day long (no matter low tide or high tide).

There was a great food with lot of variety to choose from. We had half board and were satisfied. For the breakfast you can have freshly pressed juices - there is the special stand with service and many fresh fruits. We started every day with it. Everything was really fresh and tasty - TOP.

To sum up I can truly recommend this resort (many locals told us, it is one of the best resort on Koh Samui with superb location - it is not hilly as many hotels on the island).

For more information see the website of the resort: http://www.santiburi-hotel.de/index.php/en/
and I added some pictures :-))
I am sure you will have a nice holiday in this wonderful resort and beautiful island Koh Samui - we had it.
If you have any questions contact me :-)

Room Tip: River villas are situated in the middle of resort and you have enough privacy on your own terrace. B...

Stayed 4 nights here, it is the most perfect hotel, good food, nice staff, great beaches and excellent accommodation. This is the third time Ihave stayed here and I would go again.
The breakfast was fantastic and the pool lovely with free ice cream, fruit and water brought round and even someone to clean the sunglasses!

Room Tip: Best rooms are on the beach but all good
