We spend 1 week in Santiburi and had a double room in the main building. The Santiburi is a hotel with great opportunities and a very polite service team but the way the German General Manager Willy Optekamp treats his staff (e.g. the room service women) made me feel ashamed. In the morning I saw him yelling at them like hell and pointing his finger at them before he noticed I was nearby. Another morning at breakfast, he walked around talking to his guests. When he approached our table, he suddently hit my arm when I was standing next to him asking me what kind of sports I'd like but in a rude way. I also took pictures (that I will upload here) of a ongoing house renovation where the hotel administration built a wall at because the guests were not supposed to see under which conditions the workers had to work like.
So overall, a nice hotel with luxurious standards, but if you prefer a hotel that treats its staff reasonable, go find another one. An alternative to Santiburi might be e.g. the western-located Four Seasons.More
