We just spent 4 days in an Equatorial Duplex Suite with our two children (2 & 4 y/o). The suite was a bit small for 4 persons (our own choice) and it was very humid inside. Next time we stay at this resort we will try a villa.

But for a family this was a dream resort. The staff was very attentive and had memorized the names of our kids from day 1. They gave our kids a lot of attention and the staff at the kids club were fantastic. It was obvious that this resort did everything they could so that the kids could have a great time too (as well as the parents).

The pool area is great with both a large pool and a childrens pool. The staff provides complimentary water, fruit and ice cream (!) during the day, all served with big smiles.

On the negative side: The restaurants are quite expensive and there are not too many other restaurants nearby. For families traveling with the children there is the obvious choice of the resorts beach restaurant that has a "cinema" for kids next to the restaurant.

At departure the staff sang a song for us and the kids loved it. We really felt like treasured guests at this resort. A big thank you to the staff at the kids club and to Kwan in the reception for their outstanding service!

We (two adults + one year old) booked four nights in an Equatorial Duplex Suite, yet were offered an upgrade to a Garden Villa at check-in for the price of around 20 GBP per day.
Fortunately, we asked for a Garden Pool Villa at this point and were offered one for around 50 GBP extra per day. The villa was well worth the surcharge offering a large living space, a huge bathroom and an outside plunge pool with outdoor shower, dining table and sun-beds.
Our villa (no. 507) seemed to be one of the only ones surrounded by a wall guaranteeing absolute privacy. It was tastefully furnished with traditional furniture, yet had all the perks of modern life.

The resort has a very large oval olympic size swimming pool with pool service that during our stay was hardly frequented as most of the guest opted for a spot at the beautiful beach.
Views from the beach are stunning and the beach itself is very well maintained.
On arrival, the attentive and friendly beach service staff will prepare your sun-bed/hammock and provide complementary water. The free ice cream/fruits/sun lotion etc. offered in the afternoon is a nice gesture as well.

Food wise we attended three restaurants/bars, namely the Thai restaurant, the beach restaurant and the pool bar. The Thai restaurant offers high quality local food with great service. The beach restaurant is right as the beach front with stunning views and has both local and Western dishes on offer. Also, there are theme nights in the evening with various buffets. The food quality was in line with the Thai restaurant with especially the Western dishes exceeding our expectations. Finally, the pool bar offers smaller dishes and snacks all day. Food prices are what you would expect from a hotel of this category.
While the breakfast buffet seems on the smaller side at first sight, it is outstanding serving both Western and Asian tastes. Whenever possible, we opted to sit outside right next to the pool close to the breakfast cooking stations offering various egg dishes, noodle soup, dim sums etc.

In terms of entertainment and sports, there is plenty on offer (sailing, tennis, golf etc.). We opted for a relaxation holiday, though. This included a visit to the spa (for my wife) that she thoroughly enjoyed. Also, we can recommend the Thai cooking class with the very likeable Executive chef. He went the extra mile by flat packing a kilo of thinly sliced galangal from the chef's garden to take on departure.

This brings me over to the staff, who were extremely friendly and helpful at all times. Worth pointing out is the presence and approachability of the general manager and the child friendliness, making Santiburi a great place for both couples and families.

On the negative side, some communal parts of the resort are a bit dated.
Also, we found it quite cheeky that the resort seemed to have anticipated us accepting their upgrade offer as the welcome drinks were already prepared in the Garden Villa as we viewed it. Finally, the guest relations manager was very enthusiastic in getting restaurant bookings for the evenings which some travellers might find a bit disturbing.

Overall, we can highly recommend Santiburi as a place to both relax and be active.

We stayed here for 12 nights for my 50th and my husbands 50th Birthdays. I must say from the minute we arrived we were taken care of by the lovely staff, they are all so friendly. We had a beautiful beach bungalow with an outdoor small plunge pool. Everyday we were looked after on the beach (which by the way is lovely) given frequent bottles of cold water, cold wet cloths, fruit. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated. Attention to detail is what you would expect from a 5 star. The breakfast caters for every nationality and is plentiful. The grounds are beautifully kept and a pleasure to walk round. Thank you Santiburi for making our birthdays so memorable!

We spent 10 days here with two small children in on of the pool duplex apartments, the children slept downstairs (one in cot) there was plenty of room and all staff were very friendly and super attentive. When our 1yr old suffered a couple of mosquito bites the housekeeping staff came imediately to install nets above their beds.

There is lots of activities for kids, from a trampoline to table tennis, and every day activities such as batik painting or feeding the rabbits are organised. The pool is great and beach service fab.

Breakfast was terrific with a chef for omelettes, pancakes and a lady making fresh juices every morning, our kid loved the staff who would take them off to play and look around every meal time.

Nothing to complain about I'm afraid......well done Santaburi.

This place blew us away! We are a family of four (two teenage boys) all wanting something different from a summer holiday, the Santiburi ticked all the boxes plus some we didn't even think we needed to tick!!! From the moment you arrive it is clear that this is a remarkable place. Very rarely does the resort live up to the hype and the web site, here however, it certainly does.

The villas are beautifully presented and spacious. Furnishings are tasteful and every need has been considered. The housekeeping staff are not only efficient but also thoughtful. We had our keys brought to us on the beach after accidently leaving them in the door!
Facilities are amazing, with everything from a daily football match with staff to Chakra balancing! Thai massages on the beach or in the Coral Garden are excellent and to be recommended. The gardens are extensive and beautifully maintained, they also give you a real feeling of privacy.

The Beach attendants were extreamly attentive, loungers and hammocks are made up for you in your favourite spot each morning and chilled water, cold towels, fruit and ice cream are brought round during the day. Later in the day even suncream and lens cleaners were also offered. Whilst the sea is beautifully warm just be careful of the sand as towards noon it gets incredibly hot.

The buffet breakfasts were a real hit with so many options including the best smoothie maker I have seen. A lady selling bbq chicken wanders along the beach at lunch time which is definitely worth trying along with the corn. If you want a lesson on how to prepare fruit, buy pineapples and mangoes from the fruit vendors. In the evening the buffets at the beach restaurant are lovely but make sure you book a table early. We also dined out a few nights and can highly recommend Barracuda, John's Garden, The Farmer (they will collect you from the hotel) or Ma Yom (cheap and chearful) which are all local. Alternatively, you can take a trip to Fisherman's Village, where we ate in the Happy Elephant, but there are many excellent and cheap options to choose from.

But the greatest asset the resort has is its staff. They are all so friendly, charming and helpful. If ever there was an example of customer service at its best, Santiburi is it. There is one lady in particular, her name is Apple, that we must thank for making our holiday something special.

Would we recommend this resort? Absolutely!!!
