Santiburi Beach Resort & Spa

This place blew us away! We are a family of four (two teenage boys) all wanting something different from a summer holiday, the Santiburi ticked all the boxes plus some we didn't even think we needed to tick!!! From the moment you arrive it is clear that this is a remarkable place. Very rarely does the resort live up to the hype and the web site, here however, it certainly does.

The villas are beautifully presented and spacious. Furnishings are tasteful and every need has been considered. The housekeeping staff are not only efficient but also thoughtful. We had our keys brought to us on the beach after accidently leaving them in the door!
Facilities are amazing, with everything from a daily football match with staff to Chakra balancing! Thai massages on the beach or in the Coral Garden are excellent and to be recommended. The gardens are extensive and beautifully maintained, they also give you a real feeling of privacy.

The Beach attendants were extreamly attentive, loungers and hammocks are made up for you in your favourite spot each morning and chilled water, cold towels, fruit and ice cream are brought round during the day. Later in the day even suncream and lens cleaners were also offered. Whilst the sea is beautifully warm just be careful of the sand as towards noon it gets incredibly hot.

The buffet breakfasts were a real hit with so many options including the best smoothie maker I have seen. A lady selling bbq chicken wanders along the beach at lunch time which is definitely worth trying along with the corn. If you want a lesson on how to prepare fruit, buy pineapples and mangoes from the fruit vendors. In the evening the buffets at the beach restaurant are lovely but make sure you book a table early. We also dined out a few nights and can highly recommend Barracuda, John's Garden, The Farmer (they will collect you from the hotel) or Ma Yom (cheap and chearful) which are all local. Alternatively, you can take a trip to Fisherman's Village, where we ate in the Happy Elephant, but there are many excellent and cheap options to choose from.

But the greatest asset the resort has is its staff. They are all so friendly, charming and helpful. If ever there was an example of customer service at its best, Santiburi is it. There is one lady in particular, her name is Apple, that we must thank for making our holiday something special.

Would we recommend this resort? Absolutely!!!

What a fabulous place. As soon as you arrive, you feel totally relaxed. Great staff - can't do enough for you. Amazing accommodation - we had interconnecting River/Garden Villas. so spacious, wonderful bathrooms and terrifc housekeeping staff. Fresh fruit and newspapers delivered daily. Great breakfast - wonderful juice bar and chefs.

Beach - so clean and really helpful beach staff - iced bottled water freely available, they even bring round sun cream and clean your sun glasses.

Only criticism - lacks a little atmosphere in the evenings

Room Tip: River/Garden Villas excellent and spacious

We had 5 nights in the resort on the way back to London from a trip to Australia. The flight from Singapore was easy and we arranged a transfer by the hotel. The first impression was excellent, with a well organised transfer, with cool towels, bottled water and air-conditioned vehicle.

We had booked a garden villa with plunge pool for us and the two kids age 8 and 10. The hotel upgraded this on arrival and we ended up in a room with a larger pool in a self contained area. The room was really big and had an excellent set up for us and the kids.

We spent most of our time in the Hotel with one short trip to the local shops for a look around. It was easy to spend time on the property, with a great pool and beach with lots of good service and food. The hotel manager (Willy, German) is ever present and is good with both the guests and the staff. They have plenty of people on hand to cater for any of your requirements, including ensuring you have any activities you require booked in for the day. The golf course was amazing and we took the kids for 9 holes with their own caddies and cart. It was quite reasonably priced and a great experience, even though they had hardly played previously.

I would go back again, it's a great place to relax, as well as fill up your day with activities. We played tennis every morning, followed by sailing on a catamaran for an hour, then hit the pool or beach. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Play golf with the kids!

This is a close to perfect as it gets! Very clean, spacious and tasteful rooms. The food at both the beach restaurant and Thai restaurant is excellent. The facilities include a beautiful 50m virtual-edge pool, spa, an air-conditioned gym, tennis courts, water-sports equipment and a truly beautiful golf-course. But the outstanding point is the service!
Although at the high end for price as far as Ko Samui goes, it is really value-for-money. A lot is included: free water provided on the beach (you need it), complementary fresh fruit and icecream served on the beach, all sports and water sport equipment are free, afternoon teas, reduced green fees for golf, a complementary massage on the beach.
And I must not forget to mention the beach is wonderful with water so calm it is like being in a swimming pool.
I would recommend this resort for families and couples looking for a romantic holiday. If you are looking for night clubs, etc, best go to Chaweng.

Room Tip: All room are good and quiet

Santiburi is a lovely hotel they think of everything, even to providing mosquito spray in the bathroom, along with soap powder for washing out in the sink, very thoughtful. The hotel is spotless and all the staff work very hard to keep it this way. Complimentary water at the pool/beach and in room, iced coffee and snacks at 4pm, fruit and ice lolly at the pool/beach in the afternoon. The free water sports are great. Now for some idea of price, local taxi to Bophut 200 Baht, Chaweng 400 Baht or cheaper depending the time of day the hotel taxi is 600 Baht for 4 persons. Beach massages are 250 Baht for thai massage walk out hotel beachside go to right second massage sand platform down (2 sisters in pink polo shirts) they give a great massage and have been working on the beach for years. Down from there about 8 mins walk with seats on the sand Cafe Layal (not sure about last name) at night they put on pyramids of sand with flames and lights on sand, great frozen margaritas 300 Baht and their curry is about the same price and very good found this the last day or would have gone there more, drink even had a flower in it, inside is spotless and on a thursday night they do the walking market on the street right next to this cafe/restaurant well worth a look, street food, soap carvings, sunglasses, etc. also pop up bars and music. Barracuda is also a ten min walk outside the front of hotel to the left fine dining in casual surroundings take cash, they dont take visa. Krua in bophut is also very good, happy elephant in Bophut very good and restaurant 62 thai fusion very good in Bophut. Chaweng is the shopping place but haggle the price is usually a third more than it should be. Spirit house restaurant in chaweng is a beautiful place and lovley food, also eat sense at chaweng and for a cheap night Stone Fish in the back streets where all the locals eat was very good 20£ for 4 people with drinks and 2 courses cheapest meal of the holiday and a great thai green curry, along with fresh red snapper. Very relaxing holiday and thank you to all the staff at Santiburi for the great service, will miss my breakfast omelette and smoothie just delicious. The activities were well worth going to we learnt alot from the spa team and all at the gym/tennis courts. Had a great holiday every little thing is taken care of not often you get so much attention to detail.

The staff at Santiburi is only eclipsed by the beauty of the property. From the moment that you arrive at the airport, the staff goes above and beyond to immerse you in luxury. This was the first vacation resort that my wife and I visited where the resort was more beautiful than the pictures. In addition, the food was fantastic. The breakfast buffet, ice cream cart, fresh fruit smoothies, and thai food are all amazing. We definitely would go back in a heartbeat.

We have been going to Santiburi now for over 13 years.
Our first visit was in 1999 and our last visit 2012.
The villas are wonderful, the pool enormous, service fantastic, and food is good.
The beach is fantastic more so when you get a villa right on it. Straigt out you door and into the ocean for a wake up swim...bliss.
Must Do's: Massage on the beach, buy lunch from the old lady selling Grilled chicken and green papaya salad ( best 70 baht spent), go to Bo Phut fishermans village for dinner. etc.etc.

Room Tip: Get a beach villa.
