This is a great setting with good food, good service and reasonable prices. We opted for pepper steak as we needed a break from Thai food. It was well prepared and went well with a bottle of South African pinotage. The overall dining experience was just right for us on our 33rd wedding anniversary. We shall return!

Hello, thank you for your review, i am glad that you enjoyed the atmosphere, the garden, the food, and the helpful manager, i am also sorry about the price but you are welcome to come to see my accounting any time and you will see that this restaurant is nearly a non profit place, and if we would have cheaper price you would not been able to eat here because we would not existe. and the price are written black on white on the menu at the entry and again on the menu when you ordered your food, so if you can afford a nice dinner in a nice restaurant for around 10 euro per personne, dont come in a nice romantique place . best regards sir from samui. john.

We stumbled upon John's Garden completely by chance, as we had just arrived in Koh Samui and it was getting late, so I suggested turning down a not-particularly-hopeful-looking road! However, it produced a treasure far beyond our expectations in the form of John's Garden.
As the name suggests, the dining room is a wonderful garden, cleverly landscaped to give each table privacy, with flowering plants, Buddhist statues and water features as well as very effective lighting to enhance the whole experience of eating dinner here. There are tables dotted around in individual 'salas' which is a great idea if it is likely to rain!
The food was excellent and the service very friendly. John himself came to make sure that we were satisfied with everything and, despite the huge choice of good restaurants in Koh Samui, we returned later in the week with friends.
Dinner here is a special treat and a beautiful experience for all the senses.

Me and my disabled wife "visited" this beautifully arranged and romantically lit restaurant in February 2013. Unfortunately I am unable to write a gastronomic review of the food at this place, as it did not turn up.

We were sat down at a nice table amongst the lovely candles and other soft lighting, which really is very nice, it has to be said. So if you are looking for a lovely restaurant then this is most definitely the place to come, as long as you are ok with being ignored by the staff and you are happy to wait for an hour for a piece of garlic bread to turn up as your starter (presumably the garlic - and the bread - had to be ordered in especially for us upon order from Burma or somewhere).

Upon taking our seats, the staff decided to ignore us totally. After trying to distract them several times by waving, holding a fire-eating show and ringing a bell the size of a small car, we eventually caught the attention of a lady who gave us a dirty look like we were some sort of nuisance, before she begrudgingly sent someone over to ask if we wanted a drink. To cut a long story short, we decided to give up after an hour, and told a passing waiter (by using a megaphone and lighting a flare). Amazingly, "John", a Swiss bloke who is presumably the manager, appeared in a puff of smoke like a genie, and told us the food was on its way, again giving us this dirty look like the girl did earlier. His attitude was the last straw for us, and we announced our departure. john's attitude stank, and his tone was accusational towards us, like it was our fault that we were being ignored for so long. Johnny Boy said that there was a table of ten people that had meant that service had been slow. Ten people??? If you cannot handle ten people in a restaurant then you seriously should consider a different career. Perhaps as a monk, sat on some hill somewhere where nobody bothers you for centuries.

As we left, John said these exact words to us. "Fine, you can go, we will eat the food, we will have fun". How old is this man I wonder? In his thirties or in his teenage years? Leaving this place with his insults ringing in our ears, we decided to find somewhere decent to have our meal. And we did. And everyone lived happily ever after.

Hello sir. thank you for your review, it seems like people who don't get any food in my restaurant really get upset, as my 2 worse review is people who did not eat here.
I WILL APOLOGIZE on the slow service that you experienced in my restaurant, as i tried to explain to you on your visit, yes we where wrong, yes the waiters did forget your table on your arrival .
As the restaurant was full booked when you arrived that is why you had a table on the terrasse, and why we did forget your table. my staff does not ignore any of our guest, just the opposite sir, we try to do our best, but i am sorry that u did not experience that in my place.
as i told you while you where leaving i agree that we where wrong but the moment you was leaving your food was ready so u could have being patient one minutes more and i would anyway offer you the meal but did not have time to tell u that as u left,
TO FINISH SHORTLY, i like your sens of humor and your writing style, thank you
I WILL FINISH SAYING THAT IF U ARE STILL IN SAMUI PLEASE COME FOR A COMPLETE FREE MEAL WITH DRINKS, that i can apologize and show you how i do normally take care of our guest.
regards. the owner. johnyboy.
