“Great cooking Class in Samui!”
Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

Our trio of accidental cooking enthusiasts were pleasantly surprised by our venture into Sonja's cooking class. It was a journey well worth the detour, and we found the recipes and cooking tips so refreshingly shared by Sonja to be very user friendly and relevant to a non-Thai occasional cook. Sonja was great fun to hang out with, and we would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to experience the joys of learning Thai cooking and benefitting from the wealth of experience of an unpretentious teacher who is sincere and passionate about her craft.

“Great experience and great recipes! Worth the money”
Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

The first thing you might think is that the class is overpriced, but you really get a lot for the amount you pay! Sonjas class is completely private and you get to choose your own recipes. You can ask all the questions you want about cooking, because she will gladly answer them. And you get to make and eat the dishes in the class which makes up for a lot of the money.

We had a great time with Sonja in her morning class. We made 3 dishes after our own choice and she told us how to make 2-3 others. Additionally she gave us a lot of good tips and tricks for making food in general at home.

The dishes tasted excellent and Sonja was great in the kitchen as she entertained us with harsh jokes and great cookingskills. We thought Sonja was very lovable because of her direct attitude and harsh jokes, but we can imagine that not everybody likes that.
She took really good care of us and we talked a lot with her about everything from customs in Thailand to the dishes we made. Eventhough it took a bit longer than expected, Sonja had no problem with doing 1,5 hours in overtime with us, because she wanted us to get as much as possible with us back home.

We got a book to write the recipes in and Sonja had even bought the curries for us, which we payed the normal market price for. It was great so we didnt have to look for it for ourselves.

Overall we would highly recommend Sonjas cooking class, its a great experience which you can take with you to your kitchen back home!!

“Learning Thai cooking with Sonja is a whole adventure!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Learning with Sonja is a whole adventure on its own and you have to go there if you want to know what I mean! We followed several cooking classes in Thailand but never with such an experience.
You might read that the course is “expensive”; however even if you can find other price ranges, by Sonja is the only place where you can learn 15 dishes and make/eat 5 of them! and all during a personalized and private lesson.
It’s worth it and she cares about her clients; we’ve expend almost the whole day together and we would like to repeat this adventure/experience again.

Back home we have implemented her tips and tricks in the Thai kitchen and with great results. J

Go there… you won’t regret it.

P.S.: We loved her personality and sense of humour!!!

“Sonja's Thai Cooking Class”
Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I had a fantastic day with Sonja this week as we cooked a 5 course lunch and learned more about Thai food in a few hours than I had in a few years.

If you want to watch her cook, you can - but you can also tell her to sit down and teach you while you do it.

Sonja definitely has a polarising personality - if you're the type to get offended you should probably go somewhere else - but we loved her and followed her to the markets afterwards.

Unfortunately we've run out of time to go back for another round of banter - give her a go and have a laugh while you learn.

“stuff your pie hole here”
Reviewed March 15, 2012

We had a late breaky at sonjas. She didn't have the English breakfast I wanted but the German one was filling. The baking was delisious as well. We stayed and had a chat with Sonja and one of her local expat friends. Good folks, great food and a thought provoking conversation afterwards.
