“No words can explain how amazing this place is!”
Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

From check in to check out, this hotel kept the standards high every single day.
We went for a relaxing holiday and that's exactly what we got.
We arrived in one of the Hotels amazing airport transfer cars which was an Audi, sat down in the breathtaking lobby, served mango juice and a cold towel. A wonderful introduction by the General Manager and a basic overview of the hotels facilities to then be taken to our room in a golf buggy then a tour of our room to find our suitcases already in the wardrobe.
A huge credit to all the staff especially Sea, Gift, Nic, and Jean who looked after us daily whenever we were in the restaurant or just wondering the lobby.
The food from all outlets was incredible and the chefs always fulfilled our requests. We visited Namu which is the Japanese restaurant twice; Best Japanese food I've ever eaten and is a must on everyone to do list. I had a delicious Veal Shank Mussaman curry at Kitchen Table so I thought I'd try my luck at asking for the recipe, 1 hour later it was hand delivered to our room by Sea. Thank you :-)
We enjoyed a wonderful couples package at the Away day spa which ended with the most amazing Coconut Pad Thai ( I need that recipe).
The shuttle service into town was really handy, it left 3 times a day and would pick you up as well. Great for the days we wanted to do a little shopping or watch the AFL.
A holiday we will never forget and hopefully make it back there one day :-)

Hello lozmcewen,

First of all, thank you for your amazing review of your recent experience with us.

I am thrilled to hear of your experiences and particularly happy to hear that we delivered in true WHATEVER/WHENEVER style. I do hope you enjoy recreating our veal curry from The Kitchen Table. I am sure it will be just as mouth-watering as the original!

Thanks again for sharing such wonderful comments and I do hope that we have the chance to welcome you back in the future.

Until then, warmest wishes

W-retreat is an experience not a hotel. The 'nothing is too hard' staff, the amazing views, the awesome rooms, the incredible food (breakfast is a must) and lastly the 'sweet spots' this is a place you must stay at least one night in your life. They have the entire experiance of staying here maximised for pure enjoyment. Hats off to all staff, especially wherever whenever staff and the security guy on the gate, who never stopped smiling no matter what time of day or night.

Room Tip: I recommend rooms either fronting the beach or on the hill for better breeze at night.

This retreat is Sooooo Goood.

We were welcome with refreshing drinks and cool towels during check-in (make a difference when the weather is hot). After checking-in, we hopped into a buggy to our villa and the experience begins…….

Ocean View Villa – Spectacular view of the ocean/beach and neighbouring island. The villa was well design with a huge bath tub, outdoor/indoor showers, universal power plugs, great pool and outdoor deck. Great job by housekeeping in keeping the villa and pool clean.

Breakfast – Good breakfast with different varieties of food and juice choices.

Gym (Sweat) – New machines and neat. There are various exercise classes conducted daily (Pilates, Fit Ball, Yoga, Muay Tai and many more).

Kitchen Table (Dinner) – Great and delicious food (we had Beef cheeks / Lobster in green curry / Pork belly).

Namu (Dinner). This cosy Japanese restaurant is a must try. The menu is very unique and quite different from the norm. Recommend to do a booking, especially over the weekend.

Away Spa – Very good and relaxing massage. Rooms are very private as they are individually housed.

Beach – Catch the refreshing sea breeze, take a romantic walk and watch the sun set.

Sweet Spot – “”Sinfully good”, we made multiple daily trips and can’t seem to have enough of the magnum, haagen daz ice creams.

The staff were simply magnificent and they certainly make a difference with their caring and friendly touch.

A BIG Thank you to Ms Sea Torres (F&B), Nam (Kitchen Table), Namu Chef Choi (Good Luck – Iron Chef Competition) and all staff for make our stay a very memorable experience.

We will definitely be back :)

Room Tip: Go for a Ocean View Villa and request for the highest point and near to sweet Spot

Hello Tan23,

Firstly, thank you for your review and pictures of your recent stay with us.

It really seems as though you found so many areas of the Retreat to enjoy...from the villas to the sweet spots, to the cuisine to the team of wonderful talent including Chef SK Choi at Namu.

"SK" completed preliminary filming of Iron Chef at Namu this week and we wish him the best in his televised challenge coming up soon.

So thank you again for your wonderful review and while we know that you (and your friends!) miss us ;-), we hope it wont be long before you all return to your villa with it's private pool overlooking the Gulf of Thailand!

Warm wishes,
Nick Downing

Everything was wonderful - W living up to its name.
They have these little areas around the resort called the 'Sweet Spot', which provide guests with free drinks, ice-cream, coffee, etc. (one fridge for drinks; one freezer for ice-cream - 4 different brands). They had Magnum bars but unfortunately, our party of 12 cleaned them out pretty quickly (3 times/day?!) They should probably replenish their stock more efficiently!
The W beach isn't sandy (beaches in Samui are not) but very swimmable. Hotel provides you with free activities such as beach volleyball, kayaking, canoeing, wind-surfing, etc., which is great for families.
The 'communal' pool is lovely and so relaxing and peaceful.

Hello cr1557,

Thank you for your wonderful review of your recent experience with us.

I am delighted to read you enjoyed our Sweetspots. Yes, it can indeed sometimes be a challenge to keep them fully stocked at times....however that's why we have the phone installed at each spot linked direct to our WHATEVER/WHENEVER team so that our guests can indeed let us know if a craving needs satisfying any time of day or night.

And if you think our WET deck (main pool) was "lovely" before, wait until you see the pool after it's current restyling program due for completion in early June. It will certainly be a pool to remember!

Thanks again for your wonderful review and we do hope to welcome you back again soon.

Warm wishes

My wife and I set our sights on Asia as the destination for our honeymoon. We made stops in Japan, Cambodia, and Thailand. Our expectations for our stay in Koh Samui were extremely high. I can't say enough about how wonderful a time we had while staying at The W Koh Samui. The staff at this hotel is the best of the best. We have stayed at many W branded hotels back in The States and have never been made to feel at home the way the staff at the W Koh Samui took care of us. They really make you feel like family. It was incredibly hard to leave.

The hotel is a bit on the expensive side, but when you take into account the incredible suites, private pools, wonderful breakfast spread, and other accommodations it really is worth it. The main restaurant will even fix off menu Thai items at your request. There are frequent happy hours and other events to stop by and socialize with other guests and the staff. The staff were also very helpful in coordinating off resort activities and trips. We didn't feel "trapped" the way you sometimes can at resorts that are trying to ensure you spend all of your vacation $$ at their property.

In summary, I can't say enough good things about our stay at this hotel. They really made our trip special and we have memories that will last a lifetime. We can't wait to come back!

Wow.. Words cant describe W Hotels..
I stayed at the following W Hotels Bangkok, Koh Samui & Hong Kong for a week it was amazing to see the same level of service though-out.
From the moment we walked in it's truly an amazing experience.. Every aspect of the hotel was flawless.. Rooms, service, staff, food & amenities..

I was sick for 1 day and the staff were very accommodating nothing was never a issue or a problem. it's a very pleasant feeling when the staff remembers you by name and ask " how are you feeling today"..

Loved the Nespreso machine in the room.

We only Book W Hotels when we travel now.

P.S We love the Sweet Room :)

Hello Anthony C,

First of all, thank you for your “flawless” review of your recent stay with us.

While it’s never nice to be sick while you travel I am happy to hear that the team ensured you still had a memorable experience with us for all the right reasons.

I am also delighted to learn that you enjoyed our new Bangkok sister property which has opened to wonderful feedback. It’s great to see so many people taking advantage of both Thailand W hotels now that W Bangkok opened late last year. W Bangkok provides the true city excitement, energy and buzz and then afterwards, where better to escape to unplug and play, relax and recharge than at W Retreat Koh Samui?!

Again, thank you for sharing your wonderful feedback and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

Warm wishes

From the minute we walked in to the time we left, it was absolute bliss! The entrance is breathtaking.

The resort is gorgeous, with great views and a really relaxed vibe. We spent a fair amount of time in our room (spacious room, private pool etc) but we did also hang out at the bar and restaurants. Loved the "sweet spot" which was accessible to all for free ice cream and soft drinks. All round, good service and great atmosphere.

Breakfast was good, served with freshly squeezed orange juice! The Japanese restaurant served good food. Room service was great - we had the burger and it was really good!

If you're looking for a resort to stay, where you would not have to leave your room (or the resort), this would be it. All up, we loved our stay here and would love to return!
