Florist Resort
Ranked #20 of 30 Hotels in Mae Nam
Reviewed August 22, 2012

I found The Florist by searching on Trip Advisor and what a good choice! We stayed here 7 nights at the beginning of August and it was great. The hotel was clean and quiet, all the staff were friendly and it was literally 10 meters to the beach.

Firstly, for anyone concerned about the Thai rainy season, we didn't have one spot of rain in 2 wheels. Despite every weather forecast I looked at warning me of rain and thunder storms. Most days were blistering sunshine and perfect weather.

As for the staff in the hotel, they were all polite and friendly, however their English was very very poor, apart from the hotel manager. However, its not the end of the world and was something we got used to everywhere in Thailand. The location of the hotel is a bit off the beaten track with little to do in Maenam, but after all that was the reason we chose the hotel. It is a short taxi ride into Bophut which was much more built up with a great atmosphere and some lovely restaurants.

The beach was lovely by my standards, the sand wasn't white and the water wasn't crystal clear but it was still beautiful and I would criticise anybody for complaining about it. Chaweng did have a beautiful beach which is well worth a visit, as for the mental nightlife there, thats exactly what I was avoiding.

I thought the breakfast at the Florit was great, toast, bacon, juice and eggs cooked anyway. It did the job.

So overall, anybody considering The Florist Resort, I would highly recommend it, great value for money. Fond memories.

We arrived at this hotel in june , and unfortunately there was no light, obviously we can say that problems exist and we decided to stay.
I prefer not opinate about the hotel that is good hotel in the north of Ko Samui, but we are still very disappointed because we made the payment by cash and when we arrived at home, we were surprised to see that they passed our credit card another time. We claimed several times to the hotel to make the refund, but no reply from them, so, friends, if you decide to go to an hotel in the north of Ko Samui, I recommend you not go to this hotel.

Very nice budget resort situated at the beach in Maenam. The rooms were spacy and very clean (carefully cleaned up every day). All of the staff very helpfull and with a good sense of humour).
The breakfast was very basic but allright considering the room pricing (incl breakfast). Good thai food at the resort restaurant - in the evening right by the beach front. Although the pricing at the restaurant being on the high side compared with other beach front restaurants - but again the restaurant staff at the resort was superior to the others. If you are looking for a budget resort nicely situated and in a quite area - Florist would be a very good choice. Only it is relatively far away from shopping possibilities.
NB! Fitness center does not exist (but i cannot remove the rating!!)

We initially planned to stay two weeks, and then travel on to another SE Asian country to renew our Thai visa; we ended up making the one-day "visa run" to the Malaysian border, just so we could spend the entire five weeks we had left on a five-month journey here, at the Florist Resort. It was especially sweet to be there during low season, with an uncrowded beach (great swimming!) and a quiet ambiance around the resort - with beautiful "flora" and swimming pools (great swimming!). The staff are all extremely friendly and super helpful. The restaurant is simple but lovely and the food is quite good. The Thai neighborhood it abuts offers some nice tastes of local culture, including a nearby wat and a weekly Thursday market one Soi over. Several nice touches, like the free airport (or ferry) pickup and breakfast included, make it an even better deal. Our stay was truly heavenly. We'll be back.

Overall really happy we chose florist resort. Originally I only booked the standard Ac room for 3 nights to get the free airport pickup, then I wanted the option to switch if we didn't like it. We ended up staying for 5 more nights.

Room: Initially we were skeptical since we walked in and there were tons of mosquitoes in the room. There were some small gaps in the door so we were scared we were going to get ambushed at night. We killed all the mosquitoes and I'm happy to say the room was pretty mosquito free from that point on.The room is clean which is most important, the furniture and towels are old and worn. But, for what we paid, I think its fine as they were clean. the staff should consider cleaning the dead mosquito bodies off the wall though.

Breakfast: its included with the room. Standard stuff... every morning I had watermelon, pineapple, instant coffee, toast, Bacon, and a plain omelette (made to order). You can also get oj, cereal and eggs done other ways.

Restaurant: food is decent. Not the best not the worst, not the most expensive, not the cheapest. We would usually get lunch there, then eat at arun@samui for dinner or somewhere else in town. Arun has amazing, high quality, cheap Thai food (first restaurant on the left after the long dirt road).

Staff: nice and attentive. They all seem like extremely hard workers to make florist resort nice.

Maenam beach: we went mid may and it was awesome. Very few people there. My husband and I were the only ones chilling at the beach in front of our resort most everyday. No idea what others at our hotel were doing... maybe the pool? Florist should fix their beach chairs though. Some were broken. After beachtime I would go get a massage from bliss u spa. Toy is sooooooo nice. Left side from the street right off the beach close to the resort.

Around a 20 minute drive from koh samui airport. Lady at check in very friendly and spoke very good English - we were only staying 1 night but they upgraded us to a superior room as all the standard rooms were full! Free wifi in rooms was fast and strong signal. Air con too. These superior rooms face onto the pool and you literally step out the room and into the pool! Mattress was very firm though - didnt bother us but might some people... Beach is 10m away and is lovely and quiet, golden sands very very beautiful. Hotel restaurant is on the beach as well. Lovely food, very cheap and gorgeous setting. Small breakfast buffet included in price - toast, cereal, omelette's and fruit. Lovely little hotel very peaceful.
