First things first, this isn't a five star hotel and if you subtract the value of the park tickets from the package the nightly cost is stratospheric. Of course, this isn't the full story and it can still be a great place to stay.
The best thing about this hotel is the location, right outside the park gates. We've got young kids so the ability to pop back to the room during the day for a rest or a change of clothes was great. You can also get into the park before it officially opens, this is great but not as quiet as you might think. Best bit of all was how after the fireworks at 23:30 we could just carry two exhausted children the 5 minute walk to our room. This really made the holiday for us.
The hotel itself isn't that special and the rooms in particular could do with an update. With Disneyland celebrating its 20th anniversary the rooms look like what they are: what a nice hotel room looked like 20 years ago. There are a few nice touches like the Snow White carved bathroom mirror and the Mickey ears on the toiletries, but for me it was all too subtle. I guess Disney want to create an upmarket image but to be honest we didn't come to Disneyland for a posh spa break and it would have felt more special for the kids if the decor was more full-on Disney characters.
We didn't eat in the hotel apart from Breakfast. The food was fine and you can look out over the entrance of the park, but it would have been nice if the characters came around the tables rather than just waiting by the entrance.
Overall we had a great time, best advice is to enjoy it and try not to think about what you've paid for it!
