Velo Jaune was the 2nd planned stopover on our weeks Alpe d'Huez tour organised by Vel Vercors and I can't say I was disappointed with the choice of stopover.

After a 90km ride from Uraige les Bains and descending from the Col du Ornon into Bourg d'Osains we found Velo Jaune quite easily, for the first of 2 nights stay.

Lynne provided the excellent food that night, and what a great place to eat on the veranda with the mountains as a magnificent backdrop.

After a great nights sleep and a good breakfast we headed off to climb Alpe d'Huez, which is only 3km from Le Velo Jaune, what a climb and what a place.

We ate out in Bourg that night, as that had been pre arranged as part of our tour, again a good restaurant was recommended by Lynne.

The next day we were due to climb over the Croix der Fer to our next destination, but the weather had other ideas, and we abandoned before the start of the climb, after other Brit cyclists shouted at us to turn back!

A quick phone call to Roger & Lynne who were taking our baggage to our next hotel, quickly ensured that the team car collected 3 very soggy, but grateful cyclists!

We drove up most of the climb of the Croix der Fer, and we didn't see any cyclists on the climb and only 2 cars, so I was a good call to abandon.

Apart from meeting a crazy Polish HGV trying to ascend the Col du Glandon, the rest of the trip was uneventfful and the team car dropped us off at the next hotel.

I'll be back at some point, as Le Velo Jaune is so close to lots of great places to cycle & I've got unfinished business with the Croix der Fer!

We really enjoyed our visit to Le Velo Jaune! We stayed four nights in the middle of a three-week tour of Europe, and our time in the Alps was easily one of the highlights of the trip. We were spoiled by both Mother Nature and our hosts Alan and Lynne. I'm scratching my head to think of anything more an avid sportsman could demand to ensure a more appealing stay.

It was my first trip to Europe from the U.S. and my first cycling experience in the Alps, so I had plenty of questions and secret fears. Thankfully, Alan and Lynne generously shared their extensive local knowledge -- the bike shops to use, the views not to miss, the relative difficulty and feasibility of various route options. It's clear they've ridden (and skied) just about everything in the region themselves. Although I didn't take advantage of their ride-along guiding services on this trip, other guests spoke highly of the experience. The B&B is perfectly located in the valley, a short flat 5K warmup ride from all the services in Bourg d'Oisans, and at the bottom of the descents from all the major Cols. I also appreciated the secure on-site bike garage, with extra room for a bike stand and a floor pump for pre-ride adjustments.

They call Le Velo Jaune a B&B, but we think they should relabel it a "BB&D", since the (optional) dinners were a real highlight. The three-course meals (which include booze, if that's your thing) were reasonably priced for the area and delicious (especially after a long day in the saddle)! But it was the jovial atmosphere and great conversation around the large dinner table that we enjoyed most. We initially pre-ordered dinner for the night of our arrival only, but ended up requesting it each day thereafter.

My fiancee wasn't riding, so she spent more time hanging out at the B&B during the day. They have a cozy living room, complete with comfortable couches (and cat!), view deck, wifi internet, plenty of guide books and maps, and an honor bar/refrigerator with coffee/tea/sodas/beer/snacks available throughout the day.

Just to prove we aren't complete shills, visitors should be aware that the B&B has twin beds throughout (factor this into your honeymoon plans), and although we made our initial deposit with credit card (via PayPal), they only take the final balance payment in cash for now, so some advance planning is needed to make sure local ATM daily withdrawal limits don't scuttle things.

We'd love to come back someday and highly recommend the experience! Thanks Alan and Lynne!

Room Tip: We stayed in the lone guest suite on the second floor. It's conveniently located next to the din...

I stayed for just 1 night, whilst on a short tour from grenoble, but I would definitely go back for a longer stay if in the area again. Alan and Lynne are excellent hosts, and being very keen cyclists have a lot of knowledge and experience to share. The home cooked food was superb, and all the guests eat together around their table in the living room. The B&B is in an amazing location and situated perfectly for easy access to many of the Cols in the area. Secure bike storage, laundry if required (small fee to cover costs), and tea/coffee (free) and beer/chocolate in a communal fridge (honesty pot to cover costs). I could not ask for more in a B&B.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and enjoyed every minute. Room was clean, warm and plenty of space/furniture for all our gear. Surprised by a couple of the other reviews, as the owners (Alan & Lynne) we're brilliant, friendly and gave great advice on the weather and all things cycling. We ate the evening meals on all three nights and found them to be value for money (€19), 3 courses with second portions and a couple of beers included. Needless to say we were stuffed each night. Thanks guys, we will definitely be staying again.

Stayed here for a cycling trip, I would highly recommend it. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, free wifi for guests - you can watch Eastenders too if you use a proxy :-P - secure bike lockup and a carport . Alan and Lynne are extremely friendly and the food they provide is good value for money (wine and beers included in the price too!), They have a lot of knowledge about cycling in the local area and are themselves cyclists. I really enjoyed my stay and would stop here again without hesitation.

I stayed for 3 nights in August with a friend and we had an outstanding trip. It was our first visit to the Alps (to cycle) and we found everything just spot on! We drove from the south of England in one go and arrived on Friday night to a lovely 3 course meal. Twin room with bathroom was good and had everything we needed. Breakfast next day was great with plenty of cereals, bread, pastries, juice plus tea/coffee. Lynne & Alan are very friendly hosts and willing to help and advise regards the local cols and routes etc. We had excellent weather and really enjoyed the two days of riding including Alpe d'Huez and the Col de la Croix de Fer plus other routes. Overall, as the other reviews have already said, you really do get everything you need here: location, quality, good value & advice all in a friendly, relaxing atmosphere. The other guests we met all agreed this is the best B&B for cyclists in the area. We will certainly be returning and would recommend to all cyclists!
