“Lovely clean apartments”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

Arrived here in the early hours of the morning and were so pleased to see Josh who helped us with our luggage. We were even happier when we saw our lovely two bedroom apartment. The bed even had flowers on it. The apartment overlooked the beach & pool and the view was amazing. They have everything you could ask for at Dolunay including very friendly staff. Would definately stay there again. Only thing I would suggest is some earplugs as there are guard dogs in the car park behind the complex & they can be quite loud.

Stayed in October 2012 first time staying at the Dolunay apartments and will be definately returning, we arrived early hours of the morning and although was tired was very impressed with the size of our apartment the cooking facilties were good, would of been better if there was a toaster there but it wasnt a problem and there are plenty of places that sell breakfast near by.

Although have been going to altinkum for the last ten years, Usually staying at the tuntas or the orion hotel I must say i wish i had stayed at the dolunay before, a very relaxing holiday, pool was big with plenty of sunbeds, small pool for children, walking distance to the bars and shops and the open air night club was closed so slept well

the weather was lovely, people still on the beach in october although does get a little cold in the evening so need to take a cardie etc.... the dolunay has a bar which does sell snacks for example chips, burgers, potato skins or you can just go out.

The dolunay is great if you want to stay in or go out it has a good base and is local to everything, I travelled with a small child so wasnt out late at night but was fine sat on the balcony in the evening relaxing, all in all great place, location really nice staff and would return without a doubt.

Room Tip: we stayed in apartment 15 and was near to the bar and pool. Ground floor which was handy with the pr...

The Dolunay apartments are spotlessly clean - the maids come in every day but the towels only changed once in our week long stay although the staff are so helpful they would provide fresh towels if you ask. We arrived late at night (about 3am) and our bags were taken to the spacious 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the pool and there was bottled water, fresh bread and coffee in the room which was a lovely touch. Loads of loungers round the pool but the beach is only a few minutes walk if you prefer the beach. Sam was really friendly and gave us each a rose on our first day. The walk to the bars and restaurants is only about 10 minutes however if you prefer not to be hassled into going into bars, shops and restaurants then there are a couple of bars and restaurants to the left if the hotel near the beach which have a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Perfect weather during our stay (early October) and because it was the end of season the open air nightclubs outside the hotel were closed so no noise however there are dogs barking through the night so if you are a light sleeper you may want to bring some earplugs

We have stayed in Altinkum 7 times now and can honestly say these are the best located apartments we have stayed in.Was greeted by YaYa at gates as soon as coach pulled up, took our cases and shown us personally to our apt, such a gent and fabulous service. We had a 2 bedroomed apt with fantastic sea view. Cleaned regular and bedding/towels changed every couple of days. Could do with air con in each room rather than just main bedroom. But that is not a criticism as the apt did cool down if you left the bedroom door ajar. Staff great, YaYa and Sam made our stay at Dolunay a memorable one. BBQ night is a great way of getting to know other residents, food not brill at bbq but great atmosphere. The only fault I found was the pool is open to non residents. We also found for the first time ever that we could get up at 8am or even 9 and still get a decent sunbed. Beats getting up at 5.30/6:00 like we have in past years. Pool bar served very good quality snacks, reasonable prices too. Pool was quite big and cleaned every night. As for someone commenting on Lilos, thats called 'being on holiday'.If you don't want lilos in the pool go to an adults only resort and not family accomodation. My 17yr old son made some good friends as he always does when on holiday.Nightclubs opposite were loud when sat on balcony, but noise doesn't bother me in slightest, in fact we quite enjoyed having a drink on our balcony listening to music, and no we're not chavs!! once inside apt and in bed we could not hear anything so did not keep us awake what so ever and we had front apt right opposite Madusa. Town centre from Dolunay is only a 10 minute walk. Dolunay restaurant serves excellent food in lovely surroundings and you get 10% off your bill but you have to state you are staying at Dolunay apts for them to deduct this. Also Big Ben was nice, Golden Draggon, excellent chinese but dont do what we did and ordered for each of us (4 adults), order between you, we wasted a lot of food as the portions were extremely 'huge'!! Topkapi is also a nice roof top restaurant and the view is great. Ambience bar is a great bar, lovely food and great guys, Sinan and Mehmet we have known a long time and always make you feel so welcome. We can honestly say we never had a bad meal in all the restaurants we visited. We love Altinkum but have to say this is probably our last visit. All the bars have their waiters doing the same dances and same entertainemtent, and this has been like this now since 1998 when we first visited Altinkum!! Beaches are quite dirty, but this is very much down to the locals as they spend all day and most of the night on the beach. Would I recommend these apartments...Most definitely. Thank you to all the staff at Dolunay for making our holiday. :-)

Room Tip: Room 12, fabulous sea view. 2 bedrooms, very spacious

we have stayed several times in these apartments, and rate these as the best in altinkum, we have stayed in others but they dont match the standards of the dolunay, the apartments are very clean and spacious, every guest recieve a welcome pack just to get you started, ie -milk, tea, coffee, bread and butter, the staff are all very helpfull and polite (hassan) is a top bloke, the view form the top floor balcony (only 2 high) is great, look out to sea while having a cuppa first thing in the morning, in a great location for exploring, in the height of the season it can be very noisey from the medusa nightclub across the road but we found you soon get used to it and take no notice, many people moan about it but it clearly stated in all brochures it can be loud, swimming pool cleaned on a dailey basis, so all in all a great place to stay, recommened for familys to

Upon arrival at Dolunay we were confronted by a swimming pool teeming with lilos and the bellowing voice of someone shouting "hello newcomers".
This aptly set the scene and felt like a throw-back to the 80's.

To have the slightest chance of getting a sunbed around the pool for the day meant putting your towel out far earlier than 07:00. This is made worse by the fact that some of the sunbeds are occupied by non-residents.
There were a minority of regular pool-goers who's behaviour can only be described as "chav-like".

Despite this, we met some very nice people whilst at Dolunay, our frustrations galvanised some of these relationships with people having similar feelings.

The nightclub across the road was an irritation, although not unexpected based on previous reports; this makes buying air conditioning (£5/day) essential.

On the positive side, Yaya, Sam and the rest of the team work tirelessly to ensure the place is spotless and the bar service is exceptional. Drinks prices are not too bad and the range of food is what you would expect from a pool bar (chips, sandwiches, salads, burgers etc).

On to pastures new next year.

yet again a fantastic holiday we went for 2 weeks this year ya ya, sam and all the staff made our stay just as enjoyable as last year it was great to be back. We even got the same apartment! The only thing i could suggest would be a little extra in the apartment would be a toaster and small fan for the living area. Other than that the apartments are very clean the cleaners did a fantastic job and our beds were changed every 3 days. The pool area as before spotless and pool was cleaned every night . The staff cant do enough to help you even when our key snapped in our door, the lock was replaced within a few hours. Air conditioning is a bargain at £5.00 per day and well worth the money as it was 40 degrees! Yet again a fantastic holiday and will be booking again for next year. The snacks in apartment bar are delicious with plenty of choice and very reasonably priced. Dolunay also have a restaurant on the sea front which we went for my husbands birthday the steaks were delicious and if you tell them you are a guest at the Dolunay apts 10% discount off your bill. for an evening meal Asia Minor restaurant is a must and they also do take aways.....Chicken kebab is a must. This is over the road to the left and the first turning past the shop to the right on a small path leading to the beach. Breakfast would be Charlies stay on same side of road turn left go past cheers Charlies is opposite the 3 cash machines 6 lira about £2.20 full English breakfast all english beans, sausage, eggs, bacon, mushroom, tomato and fried bread and toast with butter and jam on the side. One final thing Apollo turkish bath £10.00 is the best one in the resort and opposite is the barbers ask for cheeky charlie to do your mens shave its £4.00 and lasts 4-5 days . Oh and before i forget Altinkum Tea rooms for a proper cuppa and home made cornish pasty.

Room Tip: 2 bedded apartments are all sea and pool views
