“Great Budget Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012

What a great little place to stay!!!! We have just returned from the Burak Hotel, we only stayed one night as we were visiting friends but I have to say I would definately go back there and would highly recommend if you are on a budget. The rooms are basic but for what we paid I was more than happy. The room was clean and just what we needed to have a shower and change of clothes before we headed for the beach which is only a few minutes walk away. A great location near to all the shops and bars and easy to get back to if you venture out to the Marina area. We simply jumped on a Dolmus and it dropped us off right outside the door. The breakfast was of Turkish continental style and the coffee/tea machine was great. The Staff were all polite and helpful and spoke very good English. The pool area looked good and it's obviously a popular place for tourists as it was quite busy, especially for this time of the year.
All in all a great little find and to be recommended if you just want a place to lay your head and without all the frills of a more expensive hotel. I for one would definately return if I visit Altinkum again. Well done Burak!!!!!

I must say, I was a little apprehensive before my hols in August, as some earlier reviews of the Burak were very variable. Well it just goes to show, you should give things a chance and not pre-judge. We had a superb 2 weeks! No more shelling out for Dolmus' ( buses ) all the time - the location could not be more central. We initially has a 1st floor road facing room and did ask for a change. We got moved to the 3rd floor facing the pool, which was miles better and allowed us to keep an eye on the kids. The rooms are basic, but very clean with the maids in daily. We went 1/2 board ( very reasonable ), any we actually LIKE the Turkish buffet breakfast of olives, eggs, cucumber, tomato, feta cheese and LOVELY fresh Turkish bread. The coffee machine was good too.
The evening meal was 1 choice for us on H/B, but there was a big selection if you were paying to dine. The kids ate the evening meal almost every day and I would say the quality is average i.e. similar to most Altinkum restaurants. The wife & I sometimes had the evening meal, but sometimes ate at "Circus" just up the road ( superb - see my review ). No matter where you go in the world, the basic "street" food is often the best. I LOVE "Kumpar" - baked potatoes with all the fillings and chicken kebab in Turkish bread or wrap - dirt cheap and superb. Anyway - back to the hotel! The staff are great including Apple, Tom, Oz, Touran & Gehan?? They make the Burak an even more pleasant place to stay. Other reviewers say the drinks are pricey, but in my experience they are average, so we enjoyed many an Efes on the terrace. The pool area can get busy and sometimes getting a lounger can be challenging - not normally a problem though. The TV in the rooms offer a number of English stations and the room aircon is good. Nice if you want to chill out watching a Top Gear re-run :-).

Altinkum is a great family destination, good value, nice people. If the locals get pushy, I found a smile and a "No Thank You" worked fine. I find it a safe family orientated destination and enjoyed the hussle and bussle of walking along the sea-front at 2 a.m. with my 8 year old daughter - mingling with the Turkish families & their children enjoying their post Ramadan break.

Happiness is a state of mind - visit the bargain Burak and Altinkum and enjoy!

well holiday number 4 in turkey must say it was a pleasant surprise this resort of altinkum was stayed at the burak hotel as everyone says was clean nice location friendly staff, only 2 bad points top bed sheets had seen there days, bathroom shower was one to watch some times it was right temp next moment extremely boiling so watch out for kids showering, but that was only thing to fault.next the location is brill down to beach /up road to some fine restaurant ,go across road to golf pub great staff, round the corner from there fine coffee house, along from there mobby dick great fish/chip tea, down the sea front we did get a few of the locals trying to hasle you in but after past experience we politely went on ,for eating i and my wife and friends would highly recomend 1st circus restaurant,2nd golden dragon restaurant one to stay clear of del mar resaurant 3 course meal which was totaly uneadable , then on sea front fine drinking holes when you come off beach .in all will deff go back there plus beach is golden sand .

Room Tip: get poolside room
