We arrived less than 24 hours after it officially opened and were apprehensive as to what state we would find the place, especially as we had had to wait for over an hour in the airport car park for our transfer bus.
The bell boys and reception looked surprised to see us (a medium sized bus load of tired tourists) and took over an hour to hand over keys, not a great start, but things did get better....
The impression we got was that the staff all looked like rabbits in headlights and took a few days to get into work mode; with the exception of the entertainment staff - who were hyper but not very effective at informing guests of daily activities program or indeed entertaining; restaurant staff who after a slow start, were over keen to remove plates and glasses, often before you had finished (we just had to go and get some more, if there was no queue, and food still available); and the housekeeping - who were amazingly bad at actually cleaning or stocking up the room!
The maid would arrive any any time during the day, then wait outside if you said come back later, then forget to give us towels, sheets, toiletries, water or even to make the bed and clean the room!
The rooms were adequate; the two single beds (we asked for double) were firm but very comfy; TV too small and uncomfortable to watch, except from the single chair, and was limited to news channels in English; waste bin arrived after 11 days; balcony small but downside was they were used as the smoking area, and several had birds nests.
BUT the view was amazing! All the rooms overlooked the large pool and face the sea (except those on end with larger balconies who could still see sea), with different views around the bay and mountains in the background. The pool had loverly lighting which changed colours, but the PA system was far too loud, and blasted out noise (sorry music) from 10am til midnight.
The air con did not work, and the rooms got very hot during the night so by 6am we were desperate for some fresh air, be warned the sun reflects very strongly off the water (sea and pool) and "blinds" you when you open the balcony doors.
We found that asking guest relations for assistance or advice was futile, unless they wanted to speak to you. Simple requests like asking about the a la carte restaurant, or where the TV room remote's were, met with dismissive shrugs and indifference. Other guests proved a more reliable source of reference!
The management were trying very hard to get the place finished and often there were workmen around until midnight. New things were arriving daily and continuous improvements being made. Not impressed with the noise in the corridors and room - from staff chatting, items being delivered, unwrapped etc day and night. And the sound proofing could have been better as there seemed to be a herd of elephants in the room above us (workmen laying carpets and building furniture), and we could hear all the toilet habits and conversations of the rooms around us. So maybe the TV volume being louder could be a double edged sword.
The manager was nervous when he saw me with a camera taking photos, and spent the rest of the stay refusing to make eye contact. So customer relations is not one of his strong points.
WIFI intermittent but good until too many users tried to access.
The mini bus into town is easy to catch from outside gates. Altinkum is the main resort, and Didim is the town (market day is Saturday - stay focused, lots of pickpockets around!). cost 1.5tl per person each way, pay driver or lad during trip. Cost is 1.75tl to go to temple or marina. (If in doubt ask for beach or shops and they will drop you off) On way back look for bus with Yesilkent on bonnet. Change money in town - jewellers offer a good rate, watch ATM's as they charge big commission fees and have had problems in the past with card details being cloned!

Overall the Hotel looks amazing and will be great when it's finished! But only if they keep up the maintenance and repair. The workmen were still finishing; drilling, hammering, moving the beach into place but noise and dust did not spoil the holiday.
The weather was unseasonally bad, but the area it known for being windy and often gets rain when Altinkum does not, hence it's name - Yesilkent - green town. So take plenty to keep you occupied in the evenings! The sea can be rough to, so be aware if you book boat trips, and take some sea sickness tablets with you.
White is not a good idea for sun bed mattresses or sofa's in lobby, and some guests had no idea how to behave in hotel. Check your lobby seat is not wet after some inconsiderate person had sat there in a wet bathing costume!
Seating limited in evening in lobby, and not much to do if you don't like the entertainment or cold windy evenings. The restaurant was a free for all, with staff just standing around watching the guests, who had obviously never seen food before in their lives (and must have eaten enough for the next year), attack, demolish, devour the latest offerings. Which to be frank were no different to the previous meal! After 2 weeks the food was predictable and boring, with the exception of the "3 mins" eggs at breakfast which were either raw or rock hard.
The coffee machine dispensing mediocre Turkish coffee broke down at every meal, but the wine was good.
Sounds like a lot of moaning but only niggles nothing too serious, but I believe we got VFM and would go again, with ear plugs and my own DVD player!

Room Tip: The rooms are fairly standard, balconies differ.

we stayed here from 15th May for 7 nights. This is a beautiful modern newly built hotel and we couldnt fault it. the only gripe is the that the all inclusive drinks finished at 11pm, as in previous reviews wealso found that they were very strict with the times that they stopped serving the AI drinks. .we tried to stock up before 11pm but they cottoned onto that too and limited how many drinks you could order at one time! you can still have drinks after 11pm but you have to pay. they wont accept any money as it has to go onto your room bill. you also have to pay for drinks in the disco, we paid 11 TL for a vodka and lemonade.

Massive pool, clean modern bedrooms, loved the walk in shower in the bathroom, all rooms over look the pool and have a sea view. hard to comment on the food as i am a vegetarian and only had salad and bread but my partner said the meat and fish were lovely. did the turkish bath and massage and was well worth the money.

i would def go back, however the price has now rocketed!!

Brand new de luxe hotel yes! Spa gym facilities excellent with warm inside pool. Improving daily....food big let down they don't seem to be able to serve anything HOT when it is supposed to be. Not much variety for the pallette - no kids menu. OK if you like chiken, chicken and chicken. Don't eat the 3 min egg it is raw, stick to the very hard boiled 5 minute egg!!!!! Problems pointed out to Restaurant Managers who agreed layout needs to be addressed to save queueing up where your food is cold by the time you reach your table. AI drinks until 11 pm on the DOT!!!! even if you are in the queue at 10 to 11!!!!! Not much entertainment at night, kids show and Animation Show outside....you will need a cardy or jacket as in May can still be chilly at night. Dolmus ride to Altinkum Town/Market/Dolphin Square and nightlife bus stops outside every 15 minutes to transport you..very cheap. Early opening teething troubles obviously to be expected, staff very helpful even though quite young eager to please and learn your language. Rooms spotless and pools excellent, although very cold for May as was the sea. Still ongoing work to grassy area by beach sunbeds, so can be a bit noisy and dustywith tractors and diggers and lorries??? once turf laid will be fine. Shaley gritty sand on beach but safe swimming. Quiet location with private apartments sprinkled around the outisde of the hotel with many brits living there. All in all give it a try so here's hoping rstaurant and food improves and who knows may go back at end of year to see what improvements have been made - depending on cost!!! :(

Room Tip: If not happy with room ask for exchange the staffe

We had a lovely holiday, hotel was superb, great views from our room, unlike some of the reviews, our room was cleaned everyday, but I admit some days cleaner than others, but always clean towels and beds changed every alternate day. Pool area brilliant, lots of sunbeds, no worry having to put your towel on at 6am!!!!!!!!!!! Lovely private beach, with great overhead canopies incase too hot. I found staff to be excellent, always ready to help, yes there is a few things that they havent got quite right yet, but they will get there in the end up.
Lots and lots of choice for food, but I tend to agree us brits like our food hot, and most times it was just luke warm, but not a problem, soup was delicious, if anybody went hungary at the venosa, there was something seriously wrong with them.
Just to mention a couple of the staff, the lady who did the pancakes in the beach tent, was lovely, and also kriss, who was promoting the spa (bless him he tried really hard always had a smile on his face).
Just to end, I had a slight accident while I was there, if you get a dolmus into altinkum beware watch your head when getting on, as I had to have a stitch as I caught it on top when getting on, but there was not a problem, they really looked after me and were all really concerned so thank you to medical staff) Would I recommend this hotel definately we had a great holiday.

We arrived at 6am and our first impressions were "what an amazing hotel." Our room (2101) on the 11th floor also had the initial wow factor with superb decor and 2 patio doors leading to an enormous balcony giving views of the sea, the swimming pool and the tennis courts.
We unpacked to discover insufficient hanging and drawer space. The longed for shower produced a severe flooding of the bathroom floor which required substantial mopping up (almost to the extent of bailing out) on this and every occasion that a shower was taken. On inspection it was apparent that the shower base was too small for the space. Not really a teething problem more like a potential rotting disaster waiting to happen to the concrete in the walls and floors (other customers having same experience)
The safe was locked and needed technical intervention but although we were assured that assistance was on the way, documents, money and valuables had to be carried about the person until the next day when a trip to reception was required to finally produce the technical wizard.
We missed the "almost riot" that took place in the lobby bar on our first night when a group of young Eastern European males jumped the long queue and were immediately served.
We decided to put these negative events to one side and get on and enjoy our holiday and we managed to do so for a couple of days. The following events finally convinced us that quests were an inconvenience to the hotel management and not a means of identifying, solving and thereby preventing future problems.:- the outer door to our room was left wide open by the maid on 2 separate occasions leaving our possessions vulnerable to all. Both the inner and outer doors should have locked but we were told that a problem with the inner door had been reported by the previous guest and still had not been repaired. The head of house keeping and a member of reception apologised profusely and promised that all staff would be made aware of the problem and that there would be no further cause for concern. The following day our room was not cleaned and fresh sheets were thrown onto the unmade bed, again both reception and the housekeeper offered assurances and apologies. A day passed without a problem, however upon returning after an excursion to Ephesus we had to call both reception and housekeeping again to make up the room, in particular to replace the towels (which were sodden each day after the mopping up process). Further apologies and assurances and promises to clean both the balcony and the bedroom floor (which 11 days into the holiday had not been touched) were made. The next day dawned and we were convinced that we would return that evening to a sparkling clean room, but the by now regular meeting of reception and housekeeping staff in our room whilst it was given a hurried and cursory clean took place and it was discovered that the new maid had not been made aware of the door problem and when she did not obtain a green light from the broken door she thought the room was occupied and her cleaning services were not required. The technician was finally summoned and on this the last night of our holiday he "repaired the broken lock" in less than a minute.
If management had dealt with our initial complaint in a business like manner, heads of departments had met with each other to discuss and compare notes then all the upset and inconvenience that we experienced would have been nipped in the bud.
I'm sure that the majority of guests had a very pleasant and enjoyable holiday and I wish that I had been one of them.
The hotel is not 5* and I regret that it never will be. Unfortunately when guests problems and complaints are treated as an inconvenience instead of a means to make things better, when ill fitting showers are not addressed, when too much attention is given to how things look instead of how efficiently and effectively they perform then standards will only fall.
Be aware that a customer comments form was not readily made available. I was eventually provided with a very badly photocopied one which was written entirely in Turkish. To me this says it all. - Customers don't matter!

Room Tip: Avoid the big balconies. General rooms are bigger.
