“Great again!!!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Stayed in caravans this trip with two other families. Welcome and booking was professional and friendly. Caravans were spotlessly clean and bedding lovely and fresh. We took advantage o the half board offer and found it to be excellent value and made it a real holiday for the mums, everyone happy with breakfast choices and we found this set us up for the day, then we returned at night for a two course meal, service was excellent and food delicious, especially the vegetarian full English cooked breakfast.
The caravans were lovely and cosy with plenty of hot water. There had been some improvements on site since we camped last summer, and there continues to be improvements. We loved walking along the sea front and into the small town of silloth where there was a small market on Thursdays and car boot on Sunday. A small funfair was friendly and reasonable for the kids when we got them off the tennis courts and out of the pool, which they enjoyed. The farm and train was also appreciated. Friendly, helpful staff, great accommodation and fabulous company made this a great Easter break.

I have just returned from our second short break at solway holiday village. My mum came along this time with my son & niece. Mum was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but she was pleasently surprised with the borrowdale chalet It was very clean, well equiped & toasty warm with heating on.
All of us had a wonderful time, the kids loved the pool & had a go on the walking on water balls which was so funny. The evening entertainment started with kids party games & dancing. Followed with bingo & a turn for the adults.
I agree the site is s bit rundown but this doesnt reflect on the holiday at all. I will definatly be returning again next year .

Just returned today from staying at this caravan site. There were 6 adults and 2 children in our party, aged 4 and 17 months. We stayed in a buttermere lodge with hot tub. On reading the reviews our party almost cancelled. However decided to take the chance and was pleasantly surprised. I have stayed in various calibres of accomodation from hostels in Ireland to 5 star hotels in Hawaii and am very very pernickety when it comes to cleanliness and am pleased to say that when we entered the lodge the place was immaculate. Ok it is dated, furniture and carpets a bit old but it was very clean, the rooms were huge and perfect for our party of 8. The kitchen was very well stocked cutlery, pots, pans, microwave, fridge, glasses, wine glasses, mugs, toaster, you couldn't really ask for much more. There were 3 bedrooms, 1 With a double, 1 twin and 1 with bunk beds, All perfect for what we needed and the bedding was immaculate. The lodge also had a hot tub which everyone used every night and again it was immaculate. The park itself has a small playground and football pitch also a soft play. All 3 are small but perfect for kids to be entertained for the 3 days we where there. In the evening we went to the bar upstairs that had kids entertainment and adult entertainment all worth a visit. All in all my family and I had a great time, we got what we paid for, so if you are looking for somewhere to spend time with you're family, relax, enjoy each others company, enjoy the fresh air playing with the kids, enjoy the hot tub with a wee vino at night, enjoy entertainement in the bar at night, in accomodation that is perfectly clean and plenty big enough then this is the place for you. If this place was in anyway dirty I would have been straight out the door so that's why I felt I had to write this review as it doesn't deserve some of the negative reviews it has received. Would we stay again yes!!!

We have just spent a few days in Silloth on a holiday park called Solway. We stayed in a Grassmere chalet. We were actually booked to stay in a caravan but on arrival we found out that we had been upgraded, at no extra cost to ourselves, to a chalet. The chalet had 3 good sized bedrooms as well as a good sized lounge, which was well furnished, and good sized and well equipped kitchen. Although it was an old chalet it was nicely decorated, well maintained and spotlessly clean. To our surprise good quality linen was provided for all six beds, Gratis! There was a heater in every room which meant, although it was deathly cold outside, it was toasty warm inside. There was a free view box attached to the TV so we could watch all our favourite channels.

The park was wel maintained and well organised with lots of facilities for all ages.

The staff we encountered were all well informed and very polite. The staff on the bar on the first night would not allow my wife and I access to the bar without seeing our entertainment passes, which we had left in the chalet, and in my opinion was good security wise.

My wife and i felt safe whilst we were on the site. Some people have left reviews saying that they did not feel safe as anyone could drive on and off the site but that is true of most of all other sites we have been on. There were maintenance vans driving round the site all of the time and I am certain they would have seen anyone who did not belong and deal with them accordingly anyway. We got to know the faces of the staff very quickly and I am sure that is the same the other way round.

We were that impressed that when it was time to leave that we booked to return to the site in six weeks time, hopefully when the weather will be a bit better, with another one of our friends. Not only did we receive a whopping 25% discount for doing so we upgraded to a chalet with a hot tub, I will let you know what it was like after we have been.

Mr. Rose.

Went here with my husband and children we travelled from belfast. We booked a caravan which was very old. Park very very dated. But my children had a ball free small play area, kids club and pool the entertainment at night was brilliant for children and a bar for adults only. We small farm which my kids loved. We were expecting a bit more for the money we spent on our stay. This holiday was not luxury and everywhere needs a makeover but overall my children had a good time but I will not be back until it's had a makeover

Room Tip: If you do book the dulexe caravan best accommodation in the place even the log cabins are dated and...

Myself, husband and 2 children stayed at this park as a last minute get away!! Considering the time of year we were pleased with the weather, we arrived and could see the accommodation was slightly outdated but on arriving at chalet ( an ullswater chalet ) we were impressed with the size compared to other places we have stayed! Yes the furniture was a little old but for a cheap holiday it was more than fine for us, especially as we only used the park as a base for exploring surrounding area. Our children enjoyed the play area and we all enjoyed the nights out at the bar! Food was nice and had a nice welcoming atmosphere, all staff we met were friendly!we had a lively time in the pool, our only grumble was showers were not hot! All in all we had a lovely break! To be honest yes park could do with an update but for what we paid we were not expecting the ritz standard!! We will be more than happy to go back to this holiday park!
