Where to start with solway holiday village. Me,my wife,2 kids and the dog went for 4 nights in a chalet. When we got there we soon realised the full site was like a swamp, even though there had been very little rain.the kids and the dog were always thick of mud. The kids "play area" had been neglected so much that every single piece of play equipment was broken and unusable. The farm was even worse, the walkway was like a swamp and impossible to get a pram round, it also had pigs in with you and there was poo everywhere. The kid kids entertainment was a joke. Felix the cat pops in for about 3 minutes then off he goes. The softplay is also neglected and needs cleaned and repaired.Just when we thought it could not get any worse, they decided to put new cladding on the chalet next door,so there was banging and sawing from 8:30am all day long, relaxing! The staff at reception did not want to give us any information and couldn't really care. The pool and sauna were clean and the staff in there were good although the showers were hopeless.

We were slightly concerned after reading all the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. The chalet was spotless and spacious and looked as if it had been recently decorated. The facilities were exactly as expected. The staff were incredibly helpful and efficient and the pool was clean.
What more can you ask for?

We are planning another trip in the new year

Just got back today 8. 9 .2012,,,We stayed in one of thier chalets ,,it was clean spacious and warm,,,All the staff we met were normal polite people a credit to the camp...We would not hesitate to go back..
If I had a gripe it would be the price of drinks in the club Nearly £9,00 for a pint of lager and a glass of white wine and lemonade..

After reading all the mixed reviews we decided to go and try it out for ourselves.
Yes we got a bargain 5 days break for £32.50 (if you decide to go campers make sure you get the Groupon deal) if you don’t you will feel very hard done to!!!!
Entering the park didn’t give a very good impression, pot holes, signs broken, chalets that looked from the Hi de Hi era.
We went in August and being the Great British weather- well it was raining. We had to look around for half an hour to actually fine a pitch that wasn’t water logged, it was terrible!!!!
It doesnt help that they had put grass on top of concrete platforms, so the water could not drain. Pitching our tent became a stressful challenge, we could not put our pegs into the grass dew to there being concrete. We had to tie our guy lines to trees!!!!!
After a stressful two hours pitching up our tent, we then went to have a look at the beautiful club house...not!!! Really run down well out of date... Much of our horror to top of our day we came across leaking roof with the bucket to catch the water....
Drinks were expensive!!!
The kids park very neglected, broken swings and equipment...
If you think you can go swimming all day with your family ...Think again!!! . You have to go and get wristbands and pre book before you can go for a swim... One hour swim then the whistle blows!!!
Toilets and showers..Bloody hell discussing....Had to wipe my feet on the way out!!!!
Got woken up every night 2 or 3 times, with kids shouting swearing even adults....
This site is a really RUFF SITE, if you are not RUFF DO NOT GO!!!!

£29.50 per night for a tent, 2 adults and 1 child. I reckon we could get a BnB for just a little more and not wake up in 4-6 inches of water with all our stuff soaked. The drainage appears to be none existent on the site!!
Drinks prices nearly gave me a heart attack, needless to say we only had one and left the pub.
We booked for 2 nights, but only stayed the one due to being bogged down,. We did get a refund for the one night we didn't stay but still had to pay for one soggy night.

just been to Solway and OK. Main problem other people stopping there. If you're going to moan about the rain, din't go camping - this is England remember. I read a review saying the staff were surly. I'm not surprised when they are spoken to as they were by some of the visitors. Someone had moaned about the noise. This is a campsite full of families. It's cheap and cheerful with stuff to do if you put the effort in. I found the place clean- the bins were emptied every day contrary to one prev report on trip advisor. It is worthwhile remembering to take all the essentials. Potato peeler, bin bags etc. I'd go again, Its a good place to use as a base

Room Tip: don't forget all the essentials, Washing up liquid, bin bags, bleach etc. Remember self catering...
