We took advantage of the Spring break offer (dinner, bed and breakfast) during the week leading up to Easter, staying for 3 nights. Our first impression of the hotel from the outside was that it looked like it needed a refurbishment, but once inside, everything was amazing.
Our room overlooked the green and afforded some views over the sea to Scotland, and we could also keep an eye on our car parked below, by the front door. The only downside to this being the we could hear the rumble of heavy lorries going to and from the port from 6am each morning, but we were pre-warned of this and were provided with free ear plugs.
The food, both at breakfast and dinner, was amazing. There was a wide choice of each course, and everything was cooked to perfection. Service was excellent, with all the staff being particularly attentive and helpful. We must especially mention Vicky, who was working behind the bar and serving tables in the restaurant each evening. She was especially friendly and helpful.
If we had a small complaint, it would be the quite early check out time of 10.30am. A charge of 20 pounds is expected for late check out, and as last breakfast orders are 9.30am, this could leave little time to pack up and check out.
We were really pleased to have booked a break inclusive of evening meals, as there appeared to be few other establishments offering evening dining in the town.
