If the stuffed hanging heads in reception aren't enough to put you off, the white crusty stains on the duvet cover and the rotten fish "soup" (vomit in a bowl) certainly will

We stayed here for one night as part of a large group on a driving trip through France. Not one person on our table finished their bowl of slop. And a fair few of us stayed up as late as possible to avoid going to bed.

The room was large, but the bathroom was tiny, dingy and badly in need of repair. The beds were stained and had a funny smell to them. Our room was on the first floor at the end of the corridor, and every 5 minutes the fans from the kitchen downstairs kicked in, loud enough to wake you up, and we could hear every toilet around us flushing (as well as the guys in the room next door peeing!).

We were booked half board, and after a long days driving were looking forward to a decent meal. Mega disappointment. The starter was a rehydrated powder asparagus soup. Absolutely vile. We could smell the main course over half an hour before it was brought out - langoustine and various fish, baked in a very oily sauce with grated cheese on top. It smelt absolutely disgusting, and tasted it too. The only person who cleared their plate was the guy who had specified before the trip that he didn't eat fish. Lucky escape. Desert was an apple tart that had no apple in it, but plenty of brandy. Totally in edible.

We were due to set off at 9am and rather than having an extra bit of sleep, couldn't get out of the room quick enough.

Definitely won't be staying here again

Perfect example of how service transforms the experience of a hotel - simply by the kindness and niceness of everyone, a basic hotel becomes somewhere special, this hotel has basic rooms, mostly nice firm beds, not that new or modern, decent showers and bathrooms, and a decent French breakfast, but the people are kind, lovely and try hard to make the stay work. They also smile a lot.

Stopped in this 3 star travel lodge with my family, under difficult circumstances. They couldnt have been more helpful. Language barrier wasnt a problem, rooms were basic but clean. However all the staff were lovely and the food was excellent. Many locals came to dinner, so that tells you something. They were also very helpful with our disabled daughter. The disabled room was spacious and shower room adequate.
