“Good all round campsite”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

We stayed at this campsite for 8 days and had a very positive experience of staying there. The campsite itself was clean, the toilets and facilities were cleaned regularly and there was always toilet paper for our stay. There isnt any soap however we tended to have anti-bacterial gel/soap with us as we were in a tent anyway so it wasnt a big issue. The showers were fine too, hot & cold and no pressure issues. Certain times of the day they were busy but I never had to queue for the time we were there. The pool was lovely, clean and tidy and for the most part quiet & relaxing.

The staff were very helpful, excellent communication skills, and helped us organising buses into town, recommending bars/restaurants etc. I'd personally recommend using the velopark bikes that are outside the campsite to get into Bordeaux itself - cycle paths away from the road and maybe 25-30 minutes.

Location wise it is good, easy to find and well signposted, the onsite shop was pretty basic and wouldnt want to have relied on it but was OK - kindly they allowed us to put freezer blocks in their freezer which helped our coolbox in the heat.

There are mosquitos, and you can hear frogs - however you're outdoors - deal with it/insect repellant?! Surely that's part of the outdoors camping experience?!

I'd recommend this place to anyone staying in Bordeaux who wanted a clean, safe campsite in a good area with good connections & friendly staff.

but in reality the campsite lets itself down...........

stayed 2 nights in June 2014 in a campervan:

toilets not cleaned and soiled with excrement, no paper no soap, pool dirty and foot wash filthy.
No supervision at the pool, full of unruly French children spoiling it for adults & younger children, no rule following at the pool, so ball games etc being played.

Noisy at night, especially the frog chorus, from the adjacent lake, which is almost deafening, although the campsite is not responsible for this, you must be aware that this noise is highly intrusive to sleep.

some pitches were sandy and caused bogging down for the campervan and were unusable.

Overall disappointing, but the only show in town, they really need some competition to sort this site out.

Staff Ok but seemed lazy and generally a bit buffoonish, they need some better training and motivation.

laundry facilities were good, but the bus ride to the city was longer than it looked but its a nice location to stay outside the hot city.

Brilliantly located campsite, lovely surroundings, pool, kiddies play area, shop, bar etc
Really easy to get into Bordeaux centre via quick bus and then tram.

The staff were super helpful, great English and only too willing to advise on things.

We were parked right on one of the ponds, yes the frogs were a tad noisy at night...such is life, didn't wreck my stay....I never got bitten by mosquito's and I enjoyed the ducklings :)

The toilets and showers were excellent.

Would totally recommend this campsite :)

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Bordeaux. Upon arrival the weather was heavy rain, and the only pitches left were pretty water logged. I realise they can't help the weather, but our pitch was mainly grass, so was bound to get flooded in heavy rain.
The man in reception we found to be extremely rude. We are English, but my boyfriend can speak fairly good, if basic, French, and despite trying to conduct all the conversation in French was met with rolling eyes, tuts and it all seemed like too much effort for him. When we tried to buy wine and offered to pay cash or card, we just got a "non" reply, eventually establishing we could put it on our final bill when leaving. He was so unhelpful.
The toilet and shower blocks were clean, however it is a bit tight that they don't provide toilet paper or hand soap. I know a lot of campsites in France and Spain don't either, but this is a 4 star top cost campsite, so would expect better.
We did our laundry while here too. The washing machines were fine, but we totally wasted our money on the dryers. They didn't work well at all so ended up hanging our washing out after the rain cleared.
Probably the most annoying part of our stay, however, was the events going on in the restaurant building. For 2 of the 3 nights we stayed, they had some sort of party going on until the early hours of the morning with really loud music. The first night it didn't finish until about 3am. It was so loud that we could hear it over our earplugs. All this, despite the usual campsite rules of no noise after 10pm.
We only stayed here as it was the closest campsite to Bordeaux, and we needed to do our washing. Otherwise, we would have gone elsewhere. I wouldn't stay here again.

The information in the camping guide is a little off-putting. The site is just off the ring road but in a lovely green area. Very helpful staff on reception (I don't recognise some of the other comments!) who were more than happy to call for the bus or order bread or indeed help with my limited French!
Excellent bus/tram service into the town centre. Only 1 euro 40 per person, no charge for the dogs (we have2) and so easy to return back to the site. Nobody we spoke to had a problem. We didn't use the resturant but the prices were clearly shown and fixed price of 18 euros for a set menu. Showers and toilets all cleaned at 7 am and plenty of choices for pitches.
We will be going back next year and will recommend to friends.

This summer, my fiance and I travelled around Continental Europe in a Spaceship camper. We stayed at 32 different campgrounds.

This campground was on the outskirts of Bordeaux, which was easy for sightseeing. We spent an entire day relaxing in the sun by the lovely pool, which was refreshing. Unfortunately the restaurant closed between lunch and dinner so we missed food, and the shop was not very well stocked, no ice, no milk, no chips/crisps.

The bathrooms are unisex (which I'm not a big fan of), and moderately clean, could be cleaner. The hot showers operate by a push button, which you have to repress every 10 or so seconds.

We couldn't find an available pitch anywhere with some shade, and it was ridiculously hot which was frustrating. We did however manage to catch some wifi connection from our spot, but it was intermittent (and it cost).

By nightfall, the frogs began 'singing' and they were VERY loud! I had an aweful night's sleep which was a shame, and so we had to move on the next day to try and get a better night's sleep.

This campsite had probably the rudest person i have ever met in the hospitality sector. The woman at the front desk was very abrupt and rude, and was very unhelpful. Never the less we had decided to stay until we say the place properly! Tiny pitches with no seperation from others and no grass at all! Overall the place looked run down and badly maintained. Based on this, and the woman's appalling attitude,We turned the car around and left. My advice is AVOID AVOID AVOID! Bordeaux is a lovely city so i would recommend going the few extra euros for a hotel

Room Tip: Don't even consider staying here
