My experience in this hotel was awful. When I arrived at 7:35 pm, nobody was available, doors were close and only some dogs were barking inside. I dial digit code that had been sent to me by email and it didn´t work. After waiting for half an hour some guest came out and they were helping me out dial the telephone that was on the notice on front door, but finally a man came out and told me that the code was not correct. He gave me the correct code and told him I was going out to put some gas to the car. When I came back a few minutes later, my room was opened, a bill was on my bed.
There was no way to put the heater on (I could not find a button and looked all around), and it was really cold (February 19 2012). I try to find the same man to help me but there was none to help, or answering the phone.
I slept cold and at 4 am decided to move out as it was impossible to sleep under such cold. I did complain to hotel by email a few days ago but was of no use as they say "we really do not understand the reaction of Mrs..." they were sorry I did not succeed to turn the button on and said the manager had shown me an emergency number near the elevator to phone him.
It´s amazing how a service provider cannot understand a complain and try to change whatever is wrong or did not go right; or, at least apologize for inconvenience.
Maybe experience could be changed providing information and with good communication and service:
*Accurate Concierge hours
*Advise on what to do in case you arrive late
*Correct PINCODE to access
*Information on what to do in case you do enter (where to find your keys, room, etc)
*Information in the room regarding how to get help from concierge when no one is available, etc.
Hope this help

We stayed here for one night before flying out from Pau airport. The best that can be said for the hotel is it's proximity to the airport.

The room was bleak and bare, although reasonably clean. The bed linen was fine, but the pillows were old and yellow. We chose to sleep with just the sheet and not use the unwashable bed cover/quilt. The mattress was fine and we slept reasonably OK.

The bathroom was dated (tired and not nice) with mildew in the very feeble shower. We requested and were told on our confirmation that the the room was in the "smoke-free zone" but it smelt strongly of smoke. Despite the website advertising a decent restaurant and being told this in our booking, it was closed all of Friday evening so we had to drive out (10 minutes) to find somewhere to eat.

The hotel's own photos don't reveal how bleak and institutional the hotel is. Dark stairwells and corridors. I like dogs but the two which roam the ground floor -big, sit on furniture, block doors - are a bit off-putting. I wouldn't stay here again and I'd advise against booking a room. One of the budget chain hotels in Lescar - the other side of Pau airport - would be a better choice. Sadly we only saw these when driving round trying to find somewhere to eat,

Room Tip: Don't!

The staff offer excellent service, very welcoming and helpful. The rooms, especially bathrooms needs updating, but for a 2 star hotel, cannot expect more.

Our only complaint is the taxi company the hotel recommends, extremely expensive. We paid 20 Euro for a 3 minutes trip to the airport, when we paid 15 Euro the day before from Pau train station to the hotel which is around 20 minutes away. The taxi driver had no reasons to charge us that much considering it wasn't a bank holiday or week-end.

So beware and book your own taxi.
