We booked one of their special packages in early December as a treat and we enjoyed it very much and which was excellent value. Our room was in the Chateau and was lovely - spacious, very comfortable bed, separate large bathroom and toilet. Downstairs there are four lovely comfortable salons. Due to the time of year not all the restaurants/bar were open but that didn't matter. Dining was in the restaurant by the golf course. The food was good but the only gripe that I would have is that the dinner included in the package good it was rather over-stated in the publicity. Our other dinner was just as good, if not better. Obviously the outdoor pool was not in use at this time of year but we enjoyed using the jacuzzi and sauna. I had a couple of beauty treatments - the beautician was excellent and the facial that I had was one of the best ever. The staff were without exception charming and helpful. The package included two nights accommodation, breakfast, use of the spa and one dinner. Very good value. I would imagine that in the summer the place is wonderful, especially if you like to play golf.

Room Tip: Best rooms to stay in are in the Chateau itself as they have direct access to the salons, restaurant...

We stayed here for three nights and quite enjoyed it. The Chateau has a mixture of old and new rooms. All are very spacious and very clean. The old part of the chateau has some wonderful sitting rooms to meet with your friends and share a drink. The restaurants are extremely good. The breakfasts were the best we had in france. We stayed here and played golf several times at the Chateau and used this a base to explore the various vineyards in the area.
I would certainly return here again.

We visited Chateau des Vigiers in the heart of the Dordogne, which was billed as a wine, golf and gastronomy experience. It was far from that, the wines were expensive, the golf was played on a 27 hole course which resembled three 9-hole fields with very poor fairways and soft greens (there were five holes in total that could be considered a challenge) and the gastronomy was not to the standard one would expect from this part of France. Above all is was expensive.
The Maitre D' oversold everything and was evasive when challenged. The wine tasting was well organised but lacked the style one would expect. The dining was of a poor standard and served often cold, gastronomic - no way!
As a group, we did go to an excellent restaurant within 10 minutes drive which had great atmosphere and great food and wine - that was well worth the visit.
The weather in the middle of October was not brilliant and so the golf, which was the prime reason for going, suffered. However, the timing appeared to suit the Hotel as it filled the hotel with a group, but at normal pricing!!
Overall, disappointing and lacking the style and quality one expects from the region. Is France suffering from a hard recession and sees the Brits as a opportunity to recoup some Euro's?
If you are thinking of going to france to play some golf and have somme good food and wine be very selective and check out the options very carefully beforehand, as once you are there you will pay a good size bill and feel it has not been good value for money, as we did.

Room Tip: If you really want to go, stay in the Chateau itself.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. The comments we received from other members of your golfing group were very positive and the golf secretary who organised the trip has indicated she would definitely recommend our Chateau and golf course to others. It would appear that the majority of your group enjoyed the venue, golf, spa, food, wine tasting in St Emilion, private truffle dinner and upgraded rooms in the Chateau - which were negotiated as part of your bespoke package.

As far as the golf course is concerned, we do not think that our Donald Steel designed course can fairly be described as “three 9 hole fields”. You may be unaware that Donald Steel was named as the 4th most influential golf course architect in the world by Golf Magazine.
We are sorry you disliked the course layout.

It was unfortunate that it rained during your stay. The weather averages for Bergerac in October are 20 degrees and 7 hours of sunshine. This makes September and October popular months for those seeking to play golf in our beautiful region.

Kind regards,
Bernard Pétine

We stayed for a couple of nights in early October and found the Chateau and grounds to be superb! The room in the Chateau was very comfortable. We ate at the Brasserie on a couple of occassions and found the food to be excellent if a little on the pricey side. I guess you pay for what you get in terms of quality/freshness.

My only issue with the stay would be that the A/C in our room was apparently not working and so it was very hot overnight. There was also no shower screen/curtain which meant showering left the floor in the lovely bathroom soaked. Minor points during an otherwise great stay.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your kind comments about Château des Vigiers, we do indeed have a nice place! I am pleased to read that you appreciated the food in our Brasserie and if you find the prices a little high, as you say, the freshness of our products explains this.

About your A/C, it already had been put on the heating position as the evenings and the nights are starting to be a little chilly. We will have a serious look into your bathroom during our renovation program this winter.

We look forward to welcoming you again at Château des Vigiers,

Kind regards,

We stayed at Chateau des Vignes (although we are not golfers...and think the experience fighting have been enhanced if we were). When we checked in we asked to dine in the restaurant but were told they were full and we would need to dine in the Brasserie. The dinner in the Brasserie was okay, however it is extremely frustrating when you are staying in a nice room. at a nice hotel and are then told they cannot accommodate you for dinner. To make it even more frustrating we went to the restaurant bar after our dinner where the staff told us there were tables available at the main restaurant.

We stayed for 9 nights at this fabulous Chateau in a very beautiful room which over looked the golf course. It has 3 x 9 hole courses and we thoroughly enjoyed playing them as they were challenging enough to keep you interested but suitable for an inexperienced golfer as well. The food in the main restaurant Les Fresques was excellent and we found the staff very attentive. The special Tasing Menu with wines included was an experience in itself. The food in the Brasserie was equally good but note for those with big appetites that the portions are smallish - however this allowed us to enjoy the deserts and cheese. The Spa was small but nice and the staff helpful.

It is very central for touring the Dordogne and about 40 minutes from St Emilion which is well worth a visit

We found the staff very friendly and helpful and would certainly hope to return.

Room Tip: The rooms at the top of the Chateau have wonderful views

Stayed in the Relais when on a 3 night golf break with a large group. The chateau was gorgeous, the golf was great, the room in the Relais was great but the recreational area outside the relaisincluding the pool left something to be desired. there appeared to have been little maintenance or gardening and the lining of the pool was black and very uninviting, consequently everyone traipsed over to the other pool which then became overcrowded.
That was our only quibble [ besides very slow service for a beer after a hot round of golf] on the whole we had lovely food, friendly efficient service in beautiful surroundings, drinks on the chateau terrace overlooking the lake on a balmy evening were magical . All the staff were very friendly and courteous and were kind enough to tolerate my attempts at speaking french !

Room Tip: the rooms in the relais are really spacious with nice views of the golf course from the balcony but...

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for leaving your comments on Tripadvisor and I am very pleased to read that you appreciated your stay at Château des Vigiers. I have noted your comment about the black liner of the swimming pool and we will indeed change this color for next year. Concerning the maintenance of the pool area, please note that we are actually in a very dry period and the authorities have forbidden irrigation of flowers and gardens (except the golf course) which might have given you an impression of lack of maintenance.

We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future,

Kind regards,
