Behind a plain wall lies a dream setting.
The open plan layout of the cottage compliments the grand aspects to the location.
The swimming pool setting and style is amazing.
Both Eric and Thida were very attentive owners who allowed us full use of facilities.
Their friendly dog "Fiji" added to the enjoyment of our stay.
Port Saint-Foy offered the perfect backdrop to the location.
It was pure bliss - eating breakfast and evening meals outside.
Fantastic as a central base to tour the Dordogne region.
We can't recommend this highly enough. A perfect cottage for a dream holiday.

La Batellerie is a real "find". We loved the beautifully restored building with its sweeping staircase and elegant drawing rooms, carefully chosen antique furniture, beautifully laid out formal terrace and its stunning setting right on the river. The small pool in its stylish Moroccan-style setting is an added bonus. The suite we stayed in was spacious, beautifully designed and really comfortable. Eric and Thida are great hosts, and gave us some excellent recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. Sainte Foy is a good base for exploring the area. Breakfast was generous and delicious. We thought this was excellent value - highly recommended!

Room Tip: The suite is lovely and spacious - 1 X kingsize in the main room, a double in the second bedroom. S...

Wow! What a place! Wished so much that we had found it earlier and made it our base for our tour of the Dordogne area. A fabulous 18th century building lovingly restored by the present owners and great hosts.
How to be transported back in the times of plenty and beauty. Our hosts delighted us with their passion for their home and their collected knowledge of it's varied and interesting history. Recommendations for places to see and where to eat were gratefully accepted and spot on! Thank you both so much for making our last few days so memorable.

Room Tip: They are all wonderful and you will not be disappointed!

A beautiful place to stay; we spent 3 nights in the terrace room, overlooking the garden & river. We enjoyed warm evenings on the terrace with a bottle of wine chilled in our fridge. Breakfasts in the elegant dining room were memorable and our hosts a delight. A great place for touring the surrounding area. We hope to return.

Our B&B (Chambre d’Hotes de La Batellerie) situated on the bank of Dordogne river was a large old house, restored by the present owners Eric and Thida a year ago. It is a two-story mansion with 4 rooms. The rooms are huge. Our "room" on the second floor was actually a suite with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Main room had a fire place and large windows facing the river and the bridge. The room size was approximately 50 square feet (500 square meters). The second bedroom was smaller. The bathroom had two lavatories and a modern shower. A toilet was in a separate small room. The property has a nice yard with flowers and an indoor pool as well as a separate self-contained cottage on the property for people wanting to rent an apartment. Rooms are very large and nicely decorated. Breakfast was served in a large room on the ground floor and includes cold cuts, selection of cheeses, marmalade, bread, pastries, coffee. Eric was making eggs every morning.
The owners, Eric and Thida, were very nice, very polite and helpful in suggesting trips, restaurants and making reservations.
The property has wi-fi. It was working on the ground floor next to the pool. Eric put there a several tables and chairs to make it comfortable. The television was in the common living room on the second floor and had only French channels.
We stayed there for 7 days in May. We chose it for location using it as a base for day trips in the area. Eric and Thida are wonderful hosts and made our entire stay a great experience. They treated us as their friends. We will remember this vacation for a long time.

We stumbled across this "palace" by accident, don't be put off by the entrance from the car park. It opens up into a restored wonderland of how the wealthy used to live in the 1700's.
Beautifully restored and furnished, our 2nd floor bedrom was a joy in loft conversions, very well done and a king size bed as well.
The breakfast was laid out with obvious pride in what Eric & Thida offered, crockery that would never see the inside of a washing up machine nor a microwave.
The garden and views of the Dordogne River from the lounge balcony were just magnificent.
Oh, and all this for €85 B&B for two in May 2013.
Yes, the best.

Eric and Thida is an excellent couple, running a fantastic B & B there. We enjoy so much during our stay there.
1. Breakfast: You can't imagine how Eric fulfill our needs for our local food during long business trip in France; he went to supermarket to find materials to cook the porridge for us and even dim-sum in the morning, with Chinese sauces. I am sure no matter where you are from, he will just fulfill your needs with his best effort. He used to work in New Yok for 25 years as a chef, so you will know how fantastic if you live there enjoying a great Chef's breakfast.
2. Great view for the Dordone River;
3. Great showering facility;
4. Great pool even though in winter, we haven't enjoyed it, kind of pity;
5. Great inner space;
6. Considerate services;
7. Historic building of more than 250 years.

I can say it is the best B & B we've ever lived in France. Friends, no hesitation, if you go there, just live there and you will know how wonderful it is to live there.

Eric and Thida, thanks again!!!
