“Great location, awesome hospitality”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

We spent 3 nights at ll Poggiolo Delle Rose in July and loved our stay. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, with lovely veiws of the Ceretosa Monastary. What impressed us most was the friendliness and hospitaility of the hosts. Both Elisabetta & Fabrizia went out of their way to make us feel at home and suggested good places to see. They are also very organised with maps and information on the area, right down to bus trickets for the trip to Florence. Breakfast was great, with enough variety for everyone. We would highly recommend this B&B

We stayed at Il Poggiolo dell Rose for 6 nights in May. This bed and breakfast (and they provide a beautiful buffet breakfast spread) is in an old farmhouse that was recently completely modernized. We had the whole top floor to ourselves - kitchenette, eating area, two bedrooms with ensuite baths).

The B&B is about 10 minutes outside Florence proper by bus (it only comes hourly on the weekends so be prompt) and the whole place is gated for security. The safes in the rooms are tiny - only big enough for wallets/jewelry - but there's a strong metal gate that closes in front of the room door, which also locks, so things are secure.

One downside during the spring months - they can only run a/c or heat at one time, and we were there during the shoulder period when they hadn't yet switched to a/c, so we had to open the windows... fine except for a lack of mosquito screens.

But that's a small quibble. Overall the property is top rate - quiet, good location outside the city, modern, beautiful and clean rooms, and a great price. We paid about 60 euro a person a night.

The property is also very gay friendly.

Room Tip: If it's available, ask for the second floor (primo piano) room. It takes up the whole top floor...

We chose this place as our base for our two days in Florence . It was great to be able to leave the car in the property's big parking area, hop on the bus just outside and get into the centre of the city in about 20 minutes. After a day in the hot crowded city it was most pleasant to be in a quiet, calm environment. Fabrizia and Gabriel and Elizabeta are such warm, hospitable and friendly people who show an interest in their guests and who offered us advice and help in every and any field - maps, bus time-tables and tickets, restaurants, reservations to the museums of our choice and more. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast very good. In our case, the proximity to the highway was only an advantage and the traffic was hardly heard. I recommend the place warmly as an optimal place for a Florence stay.

What a great place to stay just outside of Florence! Before we arrived I was in touch with the owners and told them the plans for our trip to the city. Not only did they offer great suggestions, but they also reserved tickets for us at the Uffizi and Accademia Gallery—all we had to do was show up at the specific time to buy our tickets (this saved on the ridiculous service fees the museums want to charge you!!). On top of that, they scheduled a wine tasting at a great local vineyard as well as suggesting an absolutely fantastic restaurant for dinner one night (Cinque di Vino, see review!).

I usually take photos of the rooms we stay in, because they typically differ from what's on websites, but the rooms here were spot on with how they look online. We just had a regular room (no kitchen), but it was clean, ample in size, and everything we needed was there for us. Breakfast in the mornings were great—made-to-order coffee, homemade baked goods (croissants, danishes, etc.), meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, fruit, etc.

The location was another gem and one of the reasons why I chose this place. We ran into car trouble on the way out there and arrived later than planned, which made me nervous about finding it based on the other reviewers comments. Even arriving at night it was a piece of cake to find. Once you get off the autostrada just go slowly and pay attention to your surroundings. The actual drive is well-lit and we appreciated the security gate. We loved being able to leave our car there and hop on the bus to take us into Florence.

The next time we go back to Florence we'll definitely stay here again!

We looked for a nice hotel in Tuscany for a family that is close enough to necessities such as restaurants and a supermarket.
After a lot of searching, we found Il Poggiolo delle rose.
We have just returned from a week stay there and it was amazing!!!.
It is a new and beautiful B&B with 6 rooms/apartments. We traveled with two kids and a baby and got a beautiful apartment with a bedroom, living room with sofa bed for the kids, big bathroom and a great equipped kitchen.
The other couple who traveled with us, (no kids) got a lovely room with a bathroom and no kitchen and was very happy.
Our apartments had a big green yard.
The price included a very good breakfast with freshly baked pastries, yogurts, cheese, fresh juices, great coffee, fruit...
The place owners - Elisabetta and Fabrizia, live at the property with their lovely families and they are all very hospitable and helpful.
They helped us with planning our tours and were willing to get us everything we needed.
We were taken care of even when we didn't ask for it: On a rainy morning we woke up to find umbrellas waiting for us near the door.
Best of all was the perfect location: the property is just off “A1” highway to Florence.
It meant that every day it took us 20 seconds to get back on the highway and we were 40 minutes from Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano and only 10 minutes from the center of Florence. In addition- only two minutes’ drive (about 1 kilometer) from the BB, are a supermarket, big drugstore, great self-service laundry, restaurants, gas stations...
Although very close to the highway, the B&B is very quiet and feels like in the country.
One more good advice – since parking is an issue in Florence, Elisabetta and Fabrizia offered us to leave the car at the B&B and take the bus to the city ( you have to buy the tickets before getting on the bus but the B&B sell them). The bus stops at the entrance to the B&B and it was a very good idea.
We highly recommend the B&B. I believe most of the guests stay there for a night or two but we spent there a whole wonderful week

We stayed at this Bed and breakfast the middle of Oct. We were driving and this place was located at a nice location to the Highway, we found it easily. Parking is not a problem and is quite safe. You are actually behind an electrically operated metal gate. You are given a card to operate it when for leaving and returning. If there was any negative to mentioned it would be that you have to carry your luggage from the parking lot ( not paved) up many steep steps to your room. The quality of the room and friendliness of the hosts easily compensated for this minor inconvience. The hosts were extremely helpful with suggestions for our activities while staying there. They spoke very good English. We actually took the bus into Florence. The stop for the bus is out the front gate and to the left a short distance. It was great not having to drive into Florence. The only suggestion I have is be sure to have a small flashlight with you when you leave. This bed and breakfast is out in the country a bit and when you are dropped off the night is about as black as it can get. After our eyes adjusted to the night it was okay but a flashlight would of been welcomed. The rooms were large, modern, and clean. Our breakfast in the morning was one of the best we had in our 3 weeks in Italy. I would highly recommend staying here. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
