My wife, daughter and I were driving towards Poppi from Florence and it was getting late for lunch. Not many open restaurants on the way. Luckily, La Baita was open. I was prepared for a typical osteria/bar but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service even though we had arrived at 3pm for lunch. We order an appetizer and a first course for each of us. My wife's farro soup was light and had a fried zucchine flower as a garnish, a delicious nice touch. My potato-filled tortelli with a mushroom cinghiale sauce was great, though very filling (obviously). All in all a very satisfying meal. I agree with some of the other reviews, that the prices were not low, but I felt we had very good value for the price.
